Pho 99 Restaurant

Just recently we went to 99 pho and the restaurant was completely empty. I figured it was just little over lunch time so nothing unusual. Although there were no other costomers the service was really slow as if they didn't want to serve us. They took our order and went to the back to cook it. Shortly the pho came but the appetizer which in American custom come first or during the meal came after we finished the pho because they forgot. We told her we did not get the appetizer yet and she asked one of the cooks that they forgot. After we finished the appetizer we paid with a credit card and we did not leave a tip because of the bad service considering there were no others. I signed the receipt for 15.10 and the next day I check my bank account and I was charged 18.12 which is 20% of the original bill. So if you guys decide to go there and pay by credit make sure the receipt matches the account statement. I come here quite often, but recently, I've been noticing a sour odor when I walk into the restaurant...and it's not the herbal pho soup smell, more like musty, mildew. My theory is that they probably spilled pho on their carpets and they don't bother cleaning it.\r \r I noticed that Pho restaurants without carpets (with tiles) are much cleaner and less smelly than those that are carpeted. There was a phase in high school where I would crave pho practically everyday, and this would be my favorite place to satisfy my cravings. It's really cheap (a regular sized pho bowl is less than $5) and very fast. The order would come out in less than 5 minutes without fail. Though the customer service isn't too friendly, it's still a great place to go for low-fuss, yummy pho. In our never ending quest to find the ultimate bowl of phÒ, we have recently enjoyed the bowl-of-life from Pho99 in Rowland Hghts. We must admit that it was a quite tasty bowl. The broth was phresh and phlavorphul. The meat and vegetables phresh and plentiful. There were a nice collection of scallions in the soup, but I had to order a side of sliced onions. There may have been cilantro but it wasn't noticeable. My only criticism is that I ordered a side of additional shrimp (3 for $1.50) and they were very small. I didn't pheel that was a good bargain. The service wasn't that attentive and I had to chase the waiter down to get rephils on pepsi and then to get a check. All in all though it was very good. I would definitely recommend Pho 99.
