FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A PARTY!!! We had a family party here in July 2013 and it is not what it used to be. We had about 70 people there and had dinner buffet style. The steak sandwiches, which I am told they are known for, were dry and there was no juice or condiments to put on them. The pasta dishes were ok, and you can't do wrong with green salad. The service was horrible. When we first got there we were bombarded with staff wanting to know if we wanted anything from the bar, but after that we were pretty much on our own. We had to ask for tea or even a refill of our water. The staff came by and started to take my husbands plate from him with his fork still in his hand. Talk about having the feeling of being rushed. I would NOT recommend this place for a large party!!! The place was crowded when we left but they were small parties of 4 or 5. Take my advice and find someplace different if you are looking for a place for a large group..... more

CLUB PHEASANT, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY 2/13/2012

I have lived here most of my life and why this place is still here is unknown. I go here once a year when my mom sends me a gift cert. I went Saturday and asked for prime rib, at about 6pm. The waitress says they have only a little left. She said they startde to serve prime rib at 5pm. Cmon, one hour later and its over. I waited for over an hour for a table then 30 min. to eat anything. The salad was small with a singler piece of a beet and 4 beans in it. The toasted ravioli was deep fried and half of the order was raw. Still mushy dough so we sent them back and got the same but cooked a tiny bit more and still doughy. The prime rib which we hardly ever get because of the cost was all dried out with no flavor whatsoever. I could have saved the 23.00 a plate just for the prime rib and went to the nugget market and just bought my own steaks. I think everyone there was over 60 years old. Maybe they are just used to the bad food or they know the waitress's who are nice to them. I do not understand why this place is still here. When I did tell my waitress about the issue she said she would tell someone. No one ever came back and said anything. I will not go back again. Dont waste your money. Pros: null Cons: null more

Great Food, Lousy atmosphere 9/27/2010

Be warned, walking into this place lets you know its been there awhile. Smelled of sweatsocks and cigarette butts upon entering. it was scary beyond belief until the waitresses served us. it caters to an older crowd but as we all know, old people cook better than young ones. i tried the rack of pork with au jus and was delighted. It's mostly a la carte so to be safe i had the special with came with potatoes, green beans and carmelized apples (which were cold but i didnt care). it was slightly pricey but worth every bite, which ended with a great spumoni. this place has been open since 1939 and is the oldest restaurant in the area. i was pleased. just goes to show you cant judge a book by it's cover. more

Good Italian 1/25/2010

As a kid, i used to visit the Pheasant Club frequently. I moved away for school and when i came back it was just as i had remembered. The ceilings are high, the walls are pleasant, and the bar has that dark but welcoming feel to it. Outside, the patio is the setting for live music performances in the summer. The Pheasant club is one of the only places you can go and eat that has a family-and community-oriented atmosphere. The vibe is local and neighborhood-y, and in the daytime, a lot of customers meet for business lunches and group gatherings. With specials to salivate over, including steamed clams with pasta, pork sandwiches, and Wednesday's Lamb Stew Italian style it is a must stop for any food enthusiast. Even with the selection of specials, no one can overlook the locally famous garlic steak sandwich. It is by far one of the best sandwiches you will ever have. Friday and Saturday nights are a must for the Roast Prime Rib that literally melts in your mouth. Sunday night might be th more

The consistency and quality of the food is what brings me back and probably why it's been open for 70 years. If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, make sure you stop by! more

Past its prime 12/22/2009

I've been eating at the "Pheas" since I was a kid in the 50s. I have an emotional attachment to the place. When Mama Palmadessi was alive, the food was heavenly. Each succeeding generation has looked for ways to cut costs resulting in lowering food quality and raising prices. Their signature dish the Garlic Steak Sandwich is a prime example. The quality of the meat has declined precipitously over the years and now they have changed the kind of bread they've used for generations due to the bakery going out of business. Instead of finding a quality substitute they went for big, doughy Muzio buns...horrible. They skimp on the garlic butter that makes the sandwich tasty. Another example is the salad bowl which used to be full of delightful things like salami, olives, peppers, beets and garbanzos. Now they throw in a garbanzo or two, a beet slice and that's it. There is no quality control whatsoever. Some nights are pretty good and others awful. I'm in deep mourning and I hope that the current owner Patty Palmadessi reads the bad reviews and realizes how off course the service/food quality/price ratio is. Even longtime patrons admit the place has gone down hill. Cons: low quality/high price more

EW! 8/13/2009

This restaurant smells bad. The pasta dishes are microwaved, not fresh to order. Who uses a microwave? Yuck! The ingredients are not of good quality either. Pros: Fried Food Cons: Everything but the fried food. Fried food's no reason to go. more

yummy food 10/30/2008

Best Steak Sandwich in Town! 9/11/2008

My mom always talked about this place when I was a kid. When I got a job close enough to go for lunch, I finally tried it. I am so glad I did! This is one of the best meal values I can find. The service isn't spectacular, but it is well made up for by the quality of the food. The steak sandwich has garlic butter in the roll which is wonderful. The steak is tender and generally cooked medium to medium rare; easy to bite and chew - not tough!! The choice for sides include homemade ravioli served ina wonderful marinara. They also will serve these deep friend with chinese hot mustard to dip. They are to die for! If you liek clams, on fridays, they have a steamed clam plate with white spaghetti and clam chowder. It is ALMOST enough to make this red-meat lover choose the clams, they are that good! Pros: patio dining, good value Cons: service is so-so, ambiance is non-existent (except in the bar) more

Dont even think about it 2/1/2008

club pheasant may look glamorous on the outside and in the Dining room , but inside the kitchen is the most disturbing things you would ever see.I was a worker here once and its was horrible , from the heat to the cleanliness of this place. I once dropped an appetizer on the ground and the owner said "ever hear of the ten second rule?" and picked it up and put it back on the plate. also a costumer was being very rude and one the cooks spit on the sandwich and said bon' apatite B***H. AND HANDED IT BACK TO THE WAITER !\r \r this place is great in the mornings and afternoons , but do not go in the evenings when all the high school kids are working! more

Home style dining at its best 3/6/2006

My husband and I have been patronizing Club Pheasant for several years. We have never gotten a bad meal and their "Touchstone" entree is especially good as well as the steak sandwiches. But their expertise is in their spaghetti and homemade raviolas and they can't be beat! And believe me this is definitely a family atmosphere. Try their old fashioned cocktails. None better! PROS: Good parking, terrific wait staff CONS: Pretty crowded unless you have a reservation more

Best Italian Food!!! 10/1/2004

If I could eat here every day I would. One of the best restaurants. The best italian food in this area. Pros: Great food, Great service, Not too crowded more

great food at a great price 10/25/2002

If you are looking for great food at a great price come to Club Pheasant. Well priced Italian food in huge portions will fill you up. Although this isn't the most romantic place in the world and is definetely lacking in ambiance, this is great for a casual meal. The food is terrific for lunch or dinner. Meals alos include soup, salad, entree, drink and dessert for around $13. Pros: good food, family like, good service Cons: crowded, terrible decor more
