Animal Hospital of Macomb is Great and Caring 11/27/2009

It is a very small but friendly animal clinic. Everyone there welcomes you and your pet. I absolutely love Dr. Williams, she gets right down on the floor with my Trudie and plays with her. I have never doubted either of the doctors recommendations though they did inform me that Trudie was fat...I am working on that. Trudie has back problems and so the weight loss will help, but their laser treatment on her back helped her sooo much! I send all my friends there now! more

Some pros but more cons 8/1/2009

Dr Deller missed some very obvious symptoms and made us believe our dog was on his death bed with cancerous tumors when what he really had was hypothyroidism and pneumonia. She did not call when she said she would, did not get a second opinion from the other doctor like she said she was going to, and was reluctant to even give our dog pain meds because she couldn't diagnose him. Our dog needlessly suffered for 3 days because she didn't know what she was doing. I will not be bringing my canine buddy back here! more

Missed obvious diagnosis, thought our dog was doomed 8/1/2009

Frankly, I would avoid this place if you have a dog with a serious problem. We took our 10 year old golden retriever to Dr. Deller because our usual vet was out of town. Our dog was lethargic, in a lot of pain and could barely stand up on his own. After xrays, she thought she saw a tumor in his chest and on his heart, but was unsure because his symptoms didn't seem to add up. She gave us mild pain relievers to try, and had us wait until the next day for test results. We had to wait until late the next afternoon for test results, and while she explained the results, she still didn't diagnose his problem. She said he had low thyroid but that could have been due to stress, and that she didn't want to treat anything until we knew what was wrong. When I told her he was still in intense pain, she suggested we slightly increase the dosage of his meds (which were not working at all). She told me she would call the next morning when she got a second opinion about what was on the xrays, but said 'her feeling' was that he had cancer. I waited until 3:30 pm the next day, and called them, at which point she told me that she hadn't gotten around to getting a second opinion and there wasn't much she could do. She instead gave me the number of several very expensive cancer specialists to get a second opinion. When I told her again that my dog was still in a lot of pain, she suggested we pick up a narcotic, which did seem to help a little with his pain. The next day, we took our dog to our usual vet for his opinion. He immediately diagnosed hypothyroid, which our dog was showing 8 of 10 very obvious symptoms for, not to mention that it's a common problem in many male goldens. The chest 'tumor' on the xray was actually a pneumonic lung, treatable with antibiotics. The heart 'tumor' wass likely a result of the hypothyroid, and the other chest 'tumor', likely a shadow as result of crappy x-ray work. He repeated the bl00d test and got the work run in about 20 minutes while we waited. Our dog is doing MUCH better on the meds!! My last conversation with Dr. Deller had us thinking that we would have to prepare for the absolute worst. While the staff was friendly, I DO NOT recommend this place if you've got a serious problem!! Pros: Friendly staff, cool calico cat in waiting area Cons: Long wait, prices, severely misdiagnosed our dog more

The most caring staff I've ever met. 5/5/2009

I brought my ailing dog to visit Dr. Deller to get a second opinion about his condition. I was clearly upset and the staff at the Animal Hospital of Macomb was so caring and thoughtful that I can't believe it took me 4 years to find them! I want everyone to know how wonderful this place it, it changed the way I look at veterinarians. I usually feel rushed and overcharged, but not here. Dr. Deller took a ton of time with me, recognizing the agony I was feeling over my dog's pain. Each and every person we came into contact with (inc. Laura, Brenda, Jennifer) were all very accommodating, compassionate and thoughtful. What's even better is that their charges were less than that at other vets I've been to. What a deal!!! more

They are so Friendly! 2/5/2009

I really must say that this little clinic is so cute, clean, and friendly. The doctors spent a lot of time with me explaining everything in detail about my new kitten that I was there for over an hour. But it was well worth it.! They know so much! more

Best Darn Veterinary Care in Macomb! 2/3/2009

I have gone to this little hospital for over 3 years, and can't say enough about the staff and doctors. I have never been treated so nicely, and my pet cared for so deeply. Angel loves going to see Dr. Williams and Dr. Deller, she pulls me into the lobby. Laura and Tiffany are wonderful receptionists and the hospital cats are a hoot! I recommend them to everyone I know, if you want the best care for your pet..go see them! Pros: clean, friendly, close to home, knowledgible staff. Cons: alittle small waiting room more
