Frankly, I would avoid this place if you have a dog with a serious problem. We took our 10 year old golden retriever to Dr. Deller because our usual vet was out of town. Our dog was lethargic, in a lot of pain and could barely stand up on his own. After xrays, she thought she saw a tumor in his chest and on his heart, but was unsure because his symptoms didn't seem to add up. She gave us mild pain relievers to try, and had us wait until the next day for test results. We had to wait until late the next afternoon for test results, and while she explained the results, she still didn't diagnose his problem. She said he had low thyroid but that could have been due to stress, and that she didn't want to treat anything until we knew what was wrong. When I told her he was still in intense pain, she suggested we slightly increase the dosage of his meds (which were not working at all). She told me she would call the next morning when she got a second opinion about what was on the xrays, but said 'her feeling' was that he had cancer. I waited until 3:30 pm the next day, and called them, at which point she told me that she hadn't gotten around to getting a second opinion and there wasn't much she could do. She instead gave me the number of several very expensive cancer specialists to get a second opinion. When I told her again that my dog was still in a lot of pain, she suggested we pick up a narcotic, which did seem to help a little with his pain. The next day, we took our dog to our usual vet for his opinion. He immediately diagnosed hypothyroid, which our dog was showing 8 of 10 very obvious symptoms for, not to mention that it's a common problem in many male goldens. The chest 'tumor' on the xray was actually a pneumonic lung, treatable with antibiotics. The heart 'tumor' wass likely a result of the hypothyroid, and the other chest 'tumor', likely a shadow as result of crappy x-ray work. He repeated the bl00d test and got the work run in about 20 minutes while we waited. Our dog is doing MUCH better on the meds!! My last conversation with Dr. Deller had us thinking that we would have to prepare for the absolute worst. While the staff was friendly, I DO NOT recommend this place if you've got a serious problem!! Pros: Friendly staff, cool calico cat in waiting area Cons: Long wait, prices, severely misdiagnosed our dog
