Do not use this plumber. Our comments mirror the other concerns expressed here. They never quote an actual number for the job, run the bill up with multiple calls and have a very unprofessional demeanor. \r \r There is no rational for his billing or business practices. We were VERY unhappy with Pete Black. We had water damage in our dining room coming from the master bath upstairs. We called him to come take a look. He was supposed to come at 4:00 and didn't end up showing up until close to 8:00p.m. (Later in his bill he charged us for "an after hours call.") He was very unprofessional, even swearing in front of our two year old. He showed up with another guy and ended up charging us for "two laborers." He pulled out a ton of dry wall in our dining room. At the time we thought this was necessary - but after getting another plumber to come out and take a look we found that it was simply a leaking arm to our shower handle going back behind the wall - the drywall might not have had to been pulled out. Pete left our house that night not fixing anything and saying he would come back out again. We weren't happy with him so we decided to call a different plumber. Pete Black Plumbing was prompt and courteous - they arrived on time and explained what they were doing as they worked. They unplugged my drains in an hour and charged as quoted. Will use Pete Black's services in the future. more

Tried several times to reach Mr. Black after receiving a positive recommendation. Each time the phone staff were rude, interrupting me, asking me several times to repeat, saying they couldn't hear me. When, after the third repetition, I raised my voice so they could hear me on this last call, staff member said, since I was yelling, she was going to hang up, I hung up. more

Pete Black only wanted to ensure another service call with me. Each service call costs roughly $180.00 whether or not work is done. Here's what happens : the plumber shows up for the first service call and inspects the situation and in my case he installed the two shut off valves that supply my bathtub. Plumber decides that parts need to be ordered. When the parts come in, another service call is made and the plumber decides then that these new parts won't work or that more parts are needed and or his work is not done professionally and he needs to come back and fix a leak for example. Remember, his goal here is to ensure another expensive service call. I sent a check to only cover the first service call. He sued me for payment in full. In full in my case means that he wanted to charge me $180.00 for the second service call. His second service call was simply show up and say, ""nope these parts won't work, I should have taken a better look in determining which parts to have you order."" Magistrate ruled in favor of Mr. Black. Magistrate and Mr. Black were fraternizing during my trial, huh. I appealed and a judge ruled in my favor one hundred percent. Pete Black has over twenty case files in the Livingston County area over the past seven years. Most of Mr. Blacks cases were settled out of court and that is extortion via undue legal process. I certainly would NOT recommend this plumber. Also this plumber was a no call no show for first scheduled appointment and his arrival was late when he did show up. During my initial trial the case immediately before mine was between Pete Black Plumbing and a man with a leaky $850.00 O'ring consisting of six service calls because it kept leaking. This man appealed too and he eventually settle out of court. I spoke with the O'ring guy and it was the same scam. During prep for my appeal I was able to speak with another person that Pete Black had sued and sure enough he tried the same scam on her too. She settle out of court as well. If for some reason you hire this company, I recommend you pay VERY close attention to what Mr. Black is billing you for. I spoke with several people that he sued for his payment in full. We had a huge back up/flood in our basement - this was one of the many plumbers that I called. They never called us back - the person told us that we would be getting a call as soon as possible - to sit tight - they would call us back to set up the time - we never heard from them. Would not recommend them for this reason. Plumbing is about 70% emergency work and we got about -100% from this company. more
