If you like dogs, you'll love Oakley Petsmart on Saturday and Sunday. The largest selection of dogs I have ever seen at a Petsmart. The volunteeers know their stuff! Every dog is in a foster home and the volunteers have extensive knowledge about each dog. They are obviously well cared for and loved. more

I try to go during the week if possible. On weekends they have the shelter dogs there. They are either right outside or right inside the door and for several reasons make it almost impossible to get into the store. Between the cages, the unattended children, the loud barking and the people just stopping to chat at the cages, right in the doorway. you can hardly get into the store to shop. Also. I don't know if they are looked after by volunteers or what but one day we were up there when it was about 25 degrees out and about a 15 mile per hour wind.. The poor dogs looked like they were freezing. Told the volunteer that was cruel to the dogs when we went in the store. When we came out the volunteer was standing inside the store and the dogs were still outside. Also were several SMALL kittens outside in cages. Looked to be about 8 weeks old. Keeping kittens outside in that kind of weather is cruelty to amimals. more

I only go due to convenience - but no more - I have used their grooming department for my dogs since the store opened - once I took my Yorkie there and they cut off her top hair (no bow from then on), then last year I took our big dog, German Shepherd who gets shaved once a year and the technician working on other animals was horrible and I do not know what they used on my dog but she had to go to the vet afterwards for a very bad rash, not to mention she was a mess. I complained to management and wrote a letter to the company. Did not hear from them - I thought I would try again today - had taken my dogs to the vet for their shots yesterday and that is how I usually do it - they get their hair done the day afterwards. I get there at my designated time in the middle of the day (inconvenient - wasted my whole day) get there and the one hateful woman getting ready to work on another large dog, not as large as mine, frowning asks if I have an appointment - and then she sounding discussed - asks the guy who is shaving a poodle if my dog was his - he said yes and dumped the little dog on the floor. He signs me in, takes my dog to the back while I am watching this hateful tech working on that poor dog and yelling at it to stand up - I asked her is she was having a bad day and she said no why - I said because you are mistreating that poor dog - she starts tugging at the dog and saying this dog ways 80lbs and I am just trying to get the dog to stand up. My dog who was bigger than that dog weighs 75lbs, and then I went to tell the manager how she was treating that dog and told that manager that if she lays a hand on my dog I would sue them. Then the guy who had my dog said we can not cut your dogs hair because she just had her shots they have a 48hr rule - well lets see had I known I could have done something else today instead of waiting around for my dogs grooming appointment, and they have never told me that before and they have known that I had her shots done and brought her in the day after. Said it was for the dogs protection from any infections - must be a new rule. Long story short - they suck - I will never take my animals there again - will always drive out of my way to go elsewhere and would suggest you really take a look at the grooming section and the quality of people working on the poor helpless dogs before you leave yours there.
