Perfect Alterations

I've heard nothing but awesome things about this place, and the woman that works there - it is a shame if Manda had a bad experience, but I hope anyone looking at these reviews has figured out that that is FAR from the norm. When I took my suit to Nancy(?), I needed the waist and the sleeves taken in within TWO days for a conference. Everywhere else I called quoted me astronomical prices, or said they flat out couldn't do it. When I called here, she said ""Come on in, we'll see what we can do."" So I did, and she said she'd have it done with time to spare in two days, and charged me a VERY reasonable price (not so little that it was shady, but not NEARLY as much as those other places). When I picked it up the day before the conference, it looked like a new jacket. She had listened to my requests, but she also know what was feasible from her significant experience and the fabric of the suit jacket. I could not have been more relieved to have a wearable suit for this conference, and I promised her I'd review her everywhere I could - she deserves it, and it's the least I could do! more

I hate to hear that someone had a bad experience at Perfect Alterations. Nancy is truly a miracle worker. As a plus-size woman, an excellent tailor is an absolute necessity. Nancy has come through for me over and over again, doing everything from simple hems to complicated re-builds of designer dresses. My clothes look bespoke rather than sloppy, and it is because of Nancy's talent and care. Further, she just recently did extensive alterations on my sister's wedding gown, making the difference between a sad off-the-rack plus-size dress and a real Wow! moment. I recommend Nancy every chance I get. more

It's unfortunate that Manda0808 had a bad experience with Perfect Alterations. I had a similar situation with my bridesmaid dress for my best friend's wedding and Perfect Alterations saved the day. On a recommendation from a local bridal shop, I took my bridesmaid dress to a seamstress six weeks before the wedding. Less than a week before the out-of-town wedding, I finally got the dress back and there was no way I could wear it in the wedding as it was. Not only did the dress still not fit, the seamstress used blue thread when my dress was green. I tried a couple different shops to get the dress fixed and they all said that there wasn't enough time. Two days before I was supposed to leave for the wedding, I took my dress to Perfect Alterations. They said they could fix the dress and get it done before I had to leave. When I picked up my dress on my way out of town, it fit perfectly! I don't know how they did it in such a short time, when they had to undo the work of the previous person, shorten my straps, open one arm hole and take in all the extra material at the zipper of my dress. Basically, they reworked the top half of my dress in two days. I highly recommend Perfect Alterations and I will be using them in the future. They did a great job for me on a short time frame. It was also less expensive than the first seamstress I used whose work had to be fixed. more

I took my wedding gown to Nancy the first weekend in May. They never called me or scheduled me to come back in for fittings. They never even called to tell me my dress was ready. I needed simple alterations for a simple wedding gown with very little bead work etc. I went back in at the end of May to have her pin the hem. It was supposed to be a sweep train. I got my dress back 6/28 and it was RUINED. She cut the train completely off. She took in the bust the way it needed to be done but there were gaps in the seams where she did not finish it. She claimed to have let it out in the hips but the dress was tighter than it had ever been. I asked her to fix it and she refused claiming she could do nothing more. I was in shock. My wedding is in less than 15 days. I went home and cried all night. I consulted another seamstress who recommended calling Nancy and giving her a chance to make it right so I did. She yelled at me and told me to bring the dress in. I did. She was hateful and mean to another bride who was in there having work done as well as me. She said she would fix the problems and have it done by that Friday. I went back in yesterday to get it and it was ruined even more! Now it's too big and the material is bunched up in places it shouldn't be and the one part of the dress where there is bead work/lace looks torn and is missing beads. She yelled at me again, snatched the dress out of my hands when I pointed out the problems and even had the nerve to tell me that I just needed to lose weight. No amount of weight loss can fix the disaster of a dress I got back from her. She charges way too much too. A hem for a simple chiffon dress was $150.00. At David's Bridal they only charge $95.00, and an extra $25 for a rush job. They even messed up my fiancee's pants for our wedding and they only needed to be hemmed! DO NOT GO HERE. They do not know the meaning of customer satisfaction, common courtesy, respect for others and their property or even common decency. They wouldn't even offer me a refund for what they did. Out of the over $300.00 I spent there all I got back was $25.00 and I swear that's only because a man I assume was her husband walked in and caught her yelling at me. I'm filing a report against them with the BBB and the AG's office as well as posting warnings/reviews everywhere I can. Hopefully this helps someone else and saves them the stress, time, money and ruined clothing. Cons: EVERYTHING more
