Pepperland Music since 1982 6/27/2010

As the owner, I noticed several great reviews about Pepperland and appreciate the nice comments. I also saw two negative ones as well on a couple sites. As for the two negative ones, it is too bad they didn't contact us. If they had a bad experience we could of fixed any issues they had. I am afraid, the one from the guitar screwed up reviewer and the review is bogus, since to our knowledge, we never had that situation brought to our attention. If we did, and as mentioned, it would of been fixed and at no charge to the person. I believe it was an employee who was fired due to taking drugs and made up a story to discredit us. We have a repairman who is simply put, amazing! He is also very very reasonable and amazes customers with the low cost of repairs. We were also called rude. If a customer is rude to us, we politely try to turn that around. We know some people have bad days and we try to be understandable. I suppose we can't please everyone, but all we can do is keep trying. We have been open non-stop since 1982, so we must be doin something right.\r Pros: Always open more

Pepperland FTW! 3/30/2010

I was told by another guitar store that my old acoustic guitar was ""a beater"" and was only good for parts. They offered to ""take it off my hands"" for 40 bucks! I kept if because it was a gift from my grandfather. I wanted new strings on it so I took it to Pepperland. I found out my old ""beater"" is actually a very old and valuable Martin! All it needed was a little reinforced bracing repair. For 60 bucks my guitar was completely repaired and now plays wonderfully! I've been recommending Pepperland to my friends for months now. Thanks you guys for not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge :) Pros: They were honest with me about my guitar, and saved me money more

Screwed up my guitar 4/8/2008

Horrible sales staff and repairman. They outsource repairs to a ""hobbyist"" which explains the ""low prices because of no overhead costs"" but also the low-caliber work.\r \r Left my guitar at the shop for their ""luthier"" (a person who repairs stringed instruments in case you haven't heard of one Mike) to take a look at for a possible neck reset. I should have known that the sales staff were idiots, not to mention the owner, Mike, who is an ignorant fool, when they all said it was ""impossible to detach the neck from the guitar."" Mike is quite arrogant and condescending, but unjustly so because of the lack of activity in his brain. Making assumptions based off of no education is stupid, and just because you do something a lot, does not mean you've been doing it right, just that you might have done something wrong quite a bit.\r \r However to my credit, it was my mistake for leaving it with them. I asked them to call me and consult with me concerning possible repairs. A few days later I receive a call stating that ""the work was finished."" What work? Crappy work. I unhappily went to pick up my guitar, whereupon arrival I received a lecture from the owner in an attempt to justify the violation of my guitar. \r \r I went home to check how their ""bridge adjustment"" fixed my problem. They jeopardized the integrity of my instrument. There is LOW action (to the point that the strings almost touch the frets and cause a buzzing sound) at the top of the fretboard, and still HIGH action at the bottom near the sound hole. \r \r Thanks for giving me a loose saddle (which is now completely removable), a shorter bridge, and minimal improvement to the high action at the bottom of the fretboard. The problem was not solved, and I still need to pursue a solution that may now be more complicated than before. You ruined my guitar, and you might be hearing from a lawyer very soon.\r \r P.S. If you have a guitar that you need to throw away, take it to them for a repair. They'll treat you real nice. Cons: Poor customer service, poor service and overall, a poor business. more
