Very nice! 5/19/2011

Came here after only staying at Cal Neva Resort for only one night. The guy at the counter was very nice. The hotel is right across from the lake and a shopping mall. The beds were a little uncomfortable. This hotel was a blessing after staying at Cal Neva Resort. more

Pretty good 5/17/2011

Unlike the last review we came across on here, we booked the room through the hotels website so didn't encounter any of the problems mentioned there. We stayed for two nights and had a newly refurbished tower room with great views of the lake. The room was pretty large and had a very comfortable bed along with a fridge, microwave etc... The location is also pretty good if you are after a quiet time away from the hustle of South Tahoe. All in all, well worth the more

Very accomodating 5/11/2011

The hotel was great. This is my 3rd visit and I have stayed in the two story rooms as well as the tower rooms. This is my first time to write a review. My room was nicely decorated with warm mountain decor as well as spotless. The cool breeze at night was wonderful to sleep under. The management team was great and very accomodating to my special needs. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family! more

great hote, decent price 5/10/2011

Great hotel, decent price, central location. The hotel was walking distance to everything in this small town. 1 block from the lake. Very clean room and the hotel is well maintained. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. more

Superb experience 5/9/2011

Superb experience. We made a 3-day trip up, stayed friday and saturday night. We were in room 301 with the whirlpool tubs. The room was in great condition. Good amount of space for our snow gear, and a heater on a side wall panel that was convenient to dry off our snow gear overnight. Bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on at a hotel. They were the ones that let you customize how firm or soft the bed is on each side. My side was broken, but the bed still felt great. It felt new. Nice and quiet, couldn't hear anybody else except when a few people stomped up and down the stairs right outside. Most people took the elevator. Great view of the city and lake tahoe. Walking distance to restaurants and a few shops. The bathroom looked newly renovated, the flooring and wall panels in the shower / tub were a beautiful rock tile. The tub whirlpool jets were a little loud, but we could still talk. It was a great way to relax our muscles after a full day up at Squaw. Downside was that the room didn't have a fan to blow moisture out, so you have to keep the window open. Not a big deal. Breakfast was great. Waffles, toast, french toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, apples, coffee, tea, apple / orange juice, pastries.. I'm sure I missed a few things. There was a lady in the room the entire time who was cleaning up the tables, making sure everything was perfectly clean and stocked for the next people to come in. 7am - 10am. Early enough so you can eat and get to the hill before the crowds. There are two parking areas. While up top is for SUV's and larger vehicles, the underground parking fits an additional 6-7 smaller passenger vehicles. They ask you to park there if you have a smaller vehicle. It snowed about a foot saturday night, and we had a hard time getting out the following morning. However by 8:20am they had the snow removed, and were salting the ramp. It still wasn't enough for us to get out even with our chains on, but they asked a person to move from his parking spot right in front of the ramp so we could get a running start, then we got out on the first try. They were very helpful though. Management was very friendly. They will give you a 10% discount with a AAA membership, but if you buy the package that gives you lift tickets they won't take the 10% off. So check to see if you can get cheaper tickets elsewhere or at least separately so you can still get the 10% off your room. Their website didn't say anything about AAA, I was a little surprised to see it when I went in to get our room keys. Oh well, now we know for our next trip. more

Fantastic service! 5/5/2011

Fantastic service, family frendily and the staff were fantastic we needed to book an extra night and it wasnt a problem. The breakfast was good even though our tastes (being from Australia) are quite different but kept us going untill we stopped for morning tea the rooms were comfortable and clean, no problems with leaving personal items in sight of housekeeping, Parking no problems even when hotel is full. Overall one of the best places we have stayed while traveling in the US more

Very pleasant stay 5/3/2011

Our first time staying in Tahoe City was made very pleasant by the Pepper Tree Inn staff. We originally called to check their availability since I didn't know if I could make it over the weekend because of work. The owner assured me that if I had to cancel last minute we wouldn't have to pay the cancellation fee. Luckily, we could make the trip, and we're glad we did! We asked for a lot of advice upon arriving: which mountain had the best snow for the next day (between Alpine, Squaw, Homewood, and Sugar Bowl), and what restaurants were good local places with good beer. We took them up on their advice (Alpine & The Bridgetender, respectively), and had an absolutely great weekend. It didn't hurt that the snow was amazing as well! Overall, thanks to the Pepper Tree Inn staff for making our stay easy, cheap, and fun! We would definitely stay again! more

Thanks Pepper Tree Inn! 5/1/2011

My fiance & I selected this hotel due to the proximity to Squaw and Alpine meadow ski ressort. (about 5-10 min drive). We wanted to travel on a cheap budget whitout sacrifying comfort. +Hotel Location: Very well located: accross from a ski shop - so that you can have your skis waxed overnight ($20) or rent a whole ski equipment including cloths if you wish! In addition; you can walk to Safeway grocery store if you wish to enjoy the microwave + bar/fridge supplied in the room. Finally, we had the most beautifull lake/sunset view from our balcony. +Free Internet Connection: great high speed internet connection. We had 2 computers and had no problem at all --unlike a different hotel we had in SouthLake Tahoe where their connection was too slow to do anything... The Pepper Tree Inn had a GREAT internet connection! +Hotel Room: bed was comfortable. Our room was clean and the washroom had been upgraded (I assume) as the floor were slate and counter top granit-coriander. The room wasn't big but just enough for our stay. The only negative point was that there was no bath tub... This said for extra you could get one while lack of tub is very common in the area! +Room Termperature: the heat control was great and the location allowed us to dry our ski boots easily overnight. +Free Breakfast: it was great as I like healthy breakfast (boiled eggs, bagel and yogourt). Sweether tooth could fillup with selection of cereals, french toast, bite muffin, juice, coffee and apples. I was glad they didn't offer only donuts type breakfast! This was a great hotel with accomodating personel (they had discounted ticket for Alpine at the time). It is a small hotel but I would definitely stay there again. Thanks Pepper Tree Inn for this great stay! more

Whats not to like about that?! 4/25/2011

We spent this past weekend up in Tahoe for a ski trip...mega snow storm had hit (taking 6+hours to get there when it normally takes about 3)...arrived at the Pepper Tree and our 4 wheel drive got stuck in snow right at their entrance. Marika and Lee (managers) and Aaron (their clerk) ,as well as some hotel guests (and, passer-byes!) , all came out to offer guidance and help get us unstuck, successfully. Next, power goes out in Tahoe City (because of storm)...we need food and a glass of wine (of course!)...lots of advice as to where 'may' be open (Marika even offers to open up the breakfast room for us to toast a bagel!) but eventually we settle on grabbing a couple of slices of pizza, from the only place open, and head back to the hotel. But, without wine...Marika (seeing our predicament) gives us a bottle of merlot, with wine glasses, and refuses to add the cost to our bill saying "compliments of the hotel". What's not to like about that!? The hotel is comfortable, adequate, not fancy. The breakfast room is very good~all the usual culprits being represented 'a la continental' (but, with flair). The hairdryer in the bathroom really does need changing out, but, seriously.......great place with amazing staff and service! (bring your own hairdryer, if it bothers you that much!) A mini fridge, mini microwave as well as coffee pot are in the room. Lee and Marika are the most recent mangers at the Pepper Tree and are trying hard to repair the damage they inherited...seems to me that they are doing a grand repair job! more

Very accommodating 4/20/2011

I had a room in the tower during a snow storm, it was great. approx $100 per night. Cable TV, wifi, a great room heater, clean clean bathroom and hot shower. Also mini fridge and microwave so I could cook some tv dinners from the nearby Safeway. Day shift desk was graet and very accommodating. Great view of the lake from the room. REAL HAPPY with this place. more

Provide a little bag of goodies :) 4/18/2011

My bf and I have stayed here multiple times and are always pleased with what we getThe hotel is clean, comfy, and quaint. The location is great- near food (Rosie's and Blue Agave) and resorts. There is ample parking for free. The staff is friendly and the owners provide little goodie bags full of cool stuff :) There are not a lot of amenities, but rooms come with large spa tubs. The bedding and mattresses are comfy- which is difficult to find these days. I have not had the experience of hearing through the walls, but I have always stayed in an end unit. I will be back and will continue to recommend to friends who come to Tahoe. more

Marika was very friendly 4/12/2011

Man, this is not a "you get what you pay for" because if it were, I should have paid a lot more! Found the room to be more than adequate, clean and comfy. Location was hard to beat, especially for someone relying on cabs and mass transit. Internet worked a-ok for me on the 5th floor and everything else in the room (TV, coffee maker, shower, mini-fridge, etc.) seemed to work great as well. Marika herself was very friendly, as were the people who helped me with questions the week prior via email. A friend of mine was also staying here at the same time in a separate room and she thought it was great too. If you're looking for an affordable, nice place to stay in town, don't look further. I back these guys. more

Great deal 4/10/2011

i dont get the reviews. i rolled in without a reservation. surfed for hotels from the road. got a 20% savings by waiting the last min (since I checked from home and called as I rolled up- the differential was 20%). i do not notice the thin walls. The AC works well. They gave me a bag of goodies- I thought I was at a convention. Free shaver, toothpaste and other samples. There is a fridge, microwave and fairly decent furnishings for 100 bucks a night.....i am not complaining....the contrary I am ecstatic. more

Lots of shops and such within walking distance 3/31/2011

Stayed 2 nights and the room was very comfortable and clean, our room was on the 6th floor and provided a great view of the lake. Especially liked that there were lots of shops and places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. Super value for the area! more

Very comfy 3/28/2011

This convenientally located motel was very comfortable, excellent service, beautiful views of Lake Tahoe and across the street from an restaurant with organic food! We would definitely go back. more

Whats not to like?! 3/22/2011

This motel was clean, comfortable, convenient to Lake Tahoe, and had a decent self-serve breakfast - what's not to like? more

Not bad at all 3/20/2011

The room was modern, well kitted out and there was a view of the lake. Good breakfast, shame about the french toast running out so quickly. Not bad for the money - have stayed in flea pits in South Lake Tahoe for similar rates. more

Good Value 3/17/2011

A clean comfortable room with breakfast and a nice view of Lake Tahoe for less than half the price of the room our friends had at a nearby ski resort. The 15 min to the resort was a very easy drive. Good value here and a friendly staff. more
