Best

I love their havenly beef, and garlic chicken. The service are friendly as always. Try them out, you won't dissappoint it!

The food was OK. I would agree for Bothell, it would be one of the better places to go for Thai food. The location is good, with plenty of parking at the back. The service was...

Racist Restaurant 8/28/2011

I had experienced a worse experience of my life. I heard about this but experienced today. Hostess/Waitress did not allow us to dine at restaurant at 8:45 pm by stating that restaurant is closing though she allowed two white couples to dine at restaurant who came 5 minutes later than us. It was sad that still racism is there in modern society. Me and My mother felt bad with this racist behavior more

Good food, poor service and prices 3/30/2011

So the food is really good but have not been impressed by the service or dinner prices, lunch us the normal 8-10 but figure 15+ for dinner. Went in for lunch and felt like we were getting shoed out so they could take a break. more

Great tasting food! 7/1/2010

I had received several recommendations for Pen Thai and I have to say I was a little wary. I was a little taken aback when we received our menus and I saw that the dishes were $12-16 each. I am used to Thai food being in the range of $8-10 per plate.\r \r However, I will say that the food was VERY tasty. And there was no additional charge for rice, which helped with the pricing.\r \r I would recommend Pen Thai, as long as you don't mind spending a little extra. Pros: Food is very tasty Cons: On the pricey side more

They charge for refills, but don't tell you 2/28/2009

The food was OK. I would agree for Bothell, it would be one of the better places to go for Thai food. The location is good, with plenty of parking at the back. The service was so, so on the day I visited. The restaurant is nicely decorated inside and is clean. I would consider the price of food fair, BUT they charge for refills. This would be fine if the servers told you this when you ordered, but on the occasion I visited; I was not informed of their policy. I might sound like at tightwad, but this is the first time I have ever been charged for a refill and in all honesty I am still in shock! I eat out two to three time a week, I have eaten in some high end restaurants and not so high end. I have NEVER been charged for a refill. In my opinion, Pen Thai is not so special a place that I am willing to pay for refills. I can go a few miles up the road to Thai Bistro - Mill Creek, where the food is on par with that served at Pen's, the service is friendly and I can drink all the diet coke I desire. more

Overpriced / Poor Quality 1/22/2009

Our shop used to spend $90.00 every Thursday until the quality of the food went down hill and I found a hair in the Crispy Chicken. Tonight we decided to try again after a year and the food was worse and the prices were raised on some dishes 30%. Penn used to be great, what a shame. more

Quality has drastically deminished 10/16/2008

Had the non-spicy soup which tasted not unlike very hot wiring smells. What I found swimming in the third spoonful that put me off completely. Pros: Nice wait staff Cons: Quality of food has deminished, not to mention the surprize addition of wildlife in the soup more

Good n fast 10/8/2008

this is the only place I eat in Bothell..good thai food without having to go to Seattle. Usually fast service too. more

Excellent service 8/26/2008

You will get excellent service here! Meaning your water glass will never be more than half empty, the food will come lickety split, and your server will give you great recommendations on new dishes to try. It's so good! Even when the restaurant is busy you get great service. more

Great Dishes 6/12/2008

I went there for dinner last night with 9 gals from work. I called about an hour before we were to arrive just to be sure they had a table large enough to accomodate us. We arrived at 5:15 pm and there was our table, waiting for us. We were seated promptly, they didn't mind that we were waiting for 1 more member of our party. Of course we ordered appetizers and drinks as we were waiting. The food was fresh, hot, tasty, and delivered very quickly. For appetizers we ordered the Crab Rangoon, a really neat corn fritter special, and the spring rolls. For dinner, WOW, talk about a great selection, the Emerald Curry was as good as a previous recommendation said it would be. If you LOVE garlic you must order the garlic prawns-you won't be dissapointed. Sizzling duck, Phad Thai (for the thai food virgin in the group), sizzling veggies, heavenly beef, etc. Needless to say, there was no room left in any of us for dessert. \r \r The restaurant filled up very quickly, but at not time did we ever feel rushed by the staff. I highly recommend Pen Thai and I will be returning. Soon! more

beautiful 5/3/2007

I've been going to Pen Thai for 3 or 4 years and have never been disappointed. Great dishes. Beautiful interior. Pleasant staff who happens to be all thai. Must try. Just don't take my place in line. Pros: Beautiful staff, beautiful food, beautiful interior design, beautiful prices Cons: people are beginning to discover the place...i foresee a mob. more

Decent food, good service, nice atmosphere 3/2/2007

Disclaimer: My wife is Thai, so I have special knowledge that this restaurant serves good food but which is far from authentic. The food seems to be a fusion of Thai and western, with maybe a French influence, and as such, there are some hits and some misses. Their fried rices are very good, albeit sweet (and if you don't like sweet, you can ask for it to not be so). A couple of their entrees, e.g., the one that's seafood wrapped in foil (forget the name) is hit-and-miss: I've had that entree when it's excellent, and also when it's quite mediocre. One thing that must be mentioned is the quality of the wait staff: There are lots of attractive, young, friendly (mostly Thai) people working here, and that adds to the pleasure, imho. Nice location in downtown Bothell, and there is parking in the back and a back door! Pros: atmosphere, wait staff Cons: food is somewhat hit/miss more

Pen Thai is amazing - all around! 5/27/2005

Eating at Pen Thai is an experience. The decor is very up-scale and the service is prompt yet discreet. The Heavenly Beef is amazing beyond words - I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone! Pros: Chic Decor, Good date spot, Fabulous Food Cons: A bit noisy, Crowded at peak hrs, Parking is minimum more

Thai lover 5/19/2005

I have eaten Thai food all around the world (Hawaii, Netherlands, New England) and this is some of the best i have tried. I like it extra hot so i ask for a side of chopped thai peppers without fish sauce and that does the trick. more

Delightful Thai 11/19/2004

Bothell is very fortunate to have Pen Thai, sister restaurant to popular Bellevue restaurant, Chantanee. Their phad thai recipe is wonderful and my favorite in the entire Seattle area. They have a broad selection of Thai dishes, including many vegetarian offerings. They have plenty of tables and their service is usually prompt. We've dined there many times and our only complaint is that the spice level of the dishes varies from night to night: one night your three star dish seems more like a four and a half star dish where the next visit that same three star dish seems extremely mild. Hopefully they'll see this review and sit all the chefs down together to agree to a standard spicy level... Pros: Excellent recipes, Good Service more

Love it!!! It's our new favorite! 11/8/2004

Menu has all the favorites and then some, ambient atmosphere is inviting and cozy. Great place for lunch or semi intimate dinner. Can hear pots and pans in the kitchen, just take along your fav person for distraction. =) The prices are comparable. Great job, we are impressed! Pros: great flavor, ambience, moderate prices more
