disregaurd ex-employee review 9/30/2009

I have been going to Peggy Kinnane's for a long time and my first visit there I had a problem with my meal not coming out the way I wanted. the owner was very nice about the problem and took my meal off the bill. I keep going back bc of the way my problem was handle by the owner. I understand mistakes can happen being that I worked as a server thro college. What matters to me is how the business makes the wrong right. Go to Peggy Kinnane's the food is awesome and the place is very big and the owner is there all the time to make sure you leave happy. Pros: food service and size of bar more

Very bad choice 8/10/2009

Fake cheese. bones in the fish, dessert served in a paper cup it came in. Mac and cheese bread only deep fried stones. cheap cutbacks for mega dollars. Pros: downtown AH Cons: horrible food more

That wasn't Irish food!!!!!! 12/2/2008

I've had much better Irish food on the Southside of Chgo. This place was average and I think the drinks were weak. Irish stew was bland and had no flavor, I guess I went on the wrong night. So many great reveiws and I thought that it would be good. I was wrong ,will stay away . till I hear better. more

Nice Family Place 8/2/2008

I don't usually wirte reviews, but after going to Peggy's many times with the whole family intow I felt the need to set the record straight about this place. Having read some of the negative reviews I can only believe that they were penned by someone with an axe to grind against the owner or his staff. Maybe an exemployee or a drunk whom they would not tolerate in a family establishment. Pros: Good food and service, Great for families Cons: Can be crowded, call for a reservation more

Peggy's is the Best in the Northwest Suburbs Period! 7/29/2008

Just have to say I've been going to Peggy's regularly for many years. It's the best bar in the northwest suburbs, Period. I dine out every week all over Chicago and the northwest suburbs and return to Peggy's because of the great staff, upscale clean environment, and excellent food. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and do take the time to say hi, making you feel welcome. I love the Shepard's pie, meatloaf, cornbeef, just to name a few. In fact Peggy?s food is the closest to a home cooked meal I?ve ever had! The negative reviews written previously sound more like a personal vendetta against the establishment rather than an honest review. Yes it was awarded Business of the Year, and it's for a reason. When passing through our great town of Arlington Heights, you must stop in for a pint and some great food! Peggy's is simply the best. Period. Pros: Great Food, Great Staff, Very Very Clean more

Best irish Pub experience 7/27/2008

I have been a patron of Peggy's since its inception. I am honestly puzzled by some of the poor reviews this restaurant has recently received. The food is consistenly excellent. The staff friendly and knowledgeable. There is a very large selection of excellent beers, spirits and wines. The place is extremely clean. The atmosphere is genuine as it should be considering most if not all of the furnishings were shipped from Ireland. The owner ( a native of Templemore, Tipperary) is genuinely concerned that your dining experience is enjoyable. This business has been a mainstay of downtown Arlington Heights since opening and in fact won Business of the Year for that town in 2006. If you want an authentic Irish pub experience, I highly recommend this establishment. more

Brings Arlington Heights to Life 7/26/2008

I have been a frequent customer of Peggy Kinnane's since it opened for very good reasons, and all of my friends and colleagues with whom I go there would agree. The service is great simply because the management is excellent. The food is great!! Everyone goes to Peggy's for its Shepherd's Pie, no doubt about it!! The mashed potatoes are phenomenal (I wish I could make them like that at home!). All of the food there is comforting and would not be enjoyed in any other Irish pub. Peggy's is also very, very clean. Yes, you could eat off the floors!!! I felt compelled to write this review out of sheer surprise at some of the other misguided reviews that are certainly NOT representative of Peggy's. So, I will try to be ""pithy"" in my last comments. It is my belief that some of those misguided reviews were written by disgruntled people for some reason or another. That definitely makes those reviews invalid and not constructive at all. Don't let those reviews deter you from spending time at Peggy's. It is in the heart of Arlington Heights, and is most certainly the heartbeat of Arlington Heights for all to enjoy. Pros: Great service and food; very clean Cons: none more

I NEVER HAVE BEEN ANY WHERE BETTER!!! WOW! JUST AMAZING 6/25/2008

first of all i totally disagree with any negative comments about peggy kinnanes. it has by far the best atmosphere, food, service and it is so incredable clean you can eat off the floor. i have been going here for about 6 years and never have had a complaint about anything. The owner does an extremly well job of providing service and maintaining a respectable place. he is constantly interacting with the costumers and doing jobs just as if he was a server, busboy, or hostess. the hostesses greet everysingle person into the resturant no mater what they are doing. Derek really deffinatly knows how to pick the right staff to get the job done! Also the bartenders have such great personalitys, it makes every visit to my favorite resturant a great one. the busboys are kind and hardworking and you never see an empty plate sitting on a table. and the servers and extremly knowlageable of the resturant and menu and are also extremly kind and hard working. the staff at Peggy Kinnanes allways workes as a team and thats exactly why the got buisness of the year! case and point - amazing food amazing service amazing atmosphere = amazing resturant. Derek Hanley needs to be even more reconized in the community for haveing such a perfect buisness. i will never stop going to peggy kinnanes. POG MO THOIN to everyone who wrights a bad review!! Pros: Perfect everything! Cons: None at all more

Would not go back for family lunch....maybe for drinks 5/12/2008

I had been to this restaurant before but it has gone down hill. I know I would not have gone back if the food had been this awful. The shepherds pie was served up like slop, meat & veg on one side and lumpy mashed potatoes on the other, not your traditional shepherds pie. The fried perch tasted like something from the frozen section of the supermaket. They need to learn what Boxty is... it is not flaky pastry. There was just no flavor to any of the food. We didn't even consider dessert because of the bad entrees. The service was good and the food come out really fast, but overall just a bad experience. For the quality of food you receive it is away over priced. Pros: Good Service Cons: Bad Food more

Great atmosphere, customer service, wonderful food. 5/30/2007

I have been going to Peggy Kinnanes Restaurant/Pub for 6 years. I have always had the very best service, great food, have enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere there. The staff is always ready and very willing to greet you with a ""Hello"" and a smile, the wait staff if superb. The servers are very attentive and always there to fill water, remove plates, anything I need to make my visit to Peggy's a great time! I have never had a so-so meal, the food is fantastic, especially the wife's bread bowl. The atmosphere is awesome, there is no place like it!! They have the best Ruben sandwich I have ever had anywhere, the corned beef is so tender and juicy, yum, makes me hungry just to think about it. Pros: Love everything about it. Great atmosphere, Great service, Great food and a Great time! more

Great customer service and atmosphere! 5/30/2007

My friends and I have been to Peggy's many times and have always had great customer service. From stopping in for appetizers (the bread bowl and potato skins are awesome!) and drinks, to making an evening out of it on a Friday or Saturday night. The place is usually busy on the weekends, and it makes for a great time! Pros: Great atmosphere! more

Great Family Environment 5/30/2007

I've been going to Peggy Kinnane's for a long time and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I wanted to write about an exceptional experience I had a couple of weeks ago with my family. My mother just passed away and we decided to have the funeral luncheon at her favorite restaurant. I must say the food was exceptional, the service was sympathetic, attentive and caring. They really helped put everyone at ease during our most difficult day. The owner was hands on and really took charge of our large party. I can't thank them enough for the wonderful send off mom got. Pros: Service, Atmosphere and Food Cons: Too far from home more

GREAT FOOD 9/23/2006

The food was excellent and the service was too. I would definitely recommend this for adults only. Too loud for kids on a weekend night. Great atmosphere and a corned beef cheese bowl appetizer to die for!!! The Rueben and prime rib were also delicious!! Pros: Great food, service, and atmosphere. Cons: Really loud more
