Horrible record store at horrible prices 8/22/2011

As a person who has been shopping around New Orleans record stores for the last few years, I find Peaches to be by far the worst record store in the city. I should probably start by saying I have only looked at records at Peaches and have never purchased one. Their prices are very high and I've found humor seeing used records for the twice the price I bought them at other local record stores when I purchased new copies. The stores selection is also very dull. Nothing that makes me feel like I should be spending the prices they are asking for. Other New Orleans record stores you should instead try: Louisiana Music Factory (a record store that is roughly two blocks away that focuses mostly on Louisiana music but it also features a great rock CD and vinyl section upstairs) Skully'z (it may be a little further away from Peaches than the Factory but it stocks more rock and pop music than the Factory. If there is anything you could not find at the Factory I would recomend Skully'z) more

what currency rate are they using???? 3/29/2011

Came here to buy a cd I saw in a magazine. First of all, I couldn't find anyone to help me find the section - one employee talking on a cell phone - and when I found it on my own the CD wasnt in stock. Asked when it might be in and employee said didn't know and walked away. Decided to look for another cd I'd been thinking about and found it (1994 release) for $29.99. No way I could afford it. Walked up the street to the other record shop and they had it for $9.99. I grabbed it. Same price as on Amazon AND cd baby but locally owned. Nice people, too! Sold out of cd from magazine but put it on order for me and said they'd call when it was in or mail it to me for free & I'd just pay for cd by credit card. Totally different experience!!! Will never go to Peaches again. Go the the other people (LMF) for sure! more

Good Selection, Good Prices 2/22/2010

As a DJ whos been playing records at clubs, parties and events for over 20 yrs i can say that its good to see Peaches rockin it like they do. You can go into Peaches and find rare vinyl or new releases in wax or CDs. The prices are fair. you just have to dig to find it. If you go in there tripping you might not like it. I visit Peaches once a week to catch the new stuff before anyone else, cause peeps bring thier used stuff to sell. You got a huge collection of movies and music in all formatts so its a music collectors fun day. have fun. If you dont like it the 1st time you visit you got to go back and keep trying. you will see how cool it is. Pros: Wide Variety of Vinyl, Cds, DVDs & Books. (local too) Cons: Its too far from my house. more

Beware of this store. 1/12/2009

I was visiting my son here in NO, When we went to the French Quarter. I wanted to get him some music for his dorm room. Wrong place for that, the prices here where were absolutely ridiculous, their selection was the worst I have seen for a large multi-store and their staff knows nothing about what they have in their store. Only point they have is that the two men upstairs know more about music and movies than the rest of the staff and most people. It was a weekend and not very busy, I was able to get my items purchased but my son gave up because the woman behind the counter let someone she knew to jump ahead of the line and then proceeded to talk to her for almost 5 mins. My son gave up and did not buy his dvds. We opted to go to Borders after that and its a lot closer to his campus. Great location, terrible prices, terrible selection, horrid retail customer service skills. What more can I say. Pros: Location Cons: Where to begin. more
