Pavlov's Dog and Cat Hospital

I've been to Pavlov's Pet Hospital about 4 or 5 times now. I have a 2 1/2 month pitbull puppy and I've taken her here ever since I've had her. The staff is really friendly and they know my puppy as soon as I bring her in. She's been there twice for shots and then two more times to cure a coccidia problem. The second time I brought her which was the first time I noticed something was wrong with her stool, the veterinarian that treated her that time was extremely rude and talked over me and kind of made me feel that her problem wasn't at all a big concern and that I in some sort of way was the cause of it. I did not get a chance to look at his name tag but I hope that wasn't Dr. Pavlov, if there is a Dr. Pavlov. The first time I brought my dog there for her shots and the other remaining times I've been there, another veterinarian took care of my dog and was EXTREMELY pleasant. The waiting room isn't that bad, plain yes, but who are we trying to appease here, the owners or the pets who don't care whatsoever? I'm pretty sure if they had a luxurious waiting area then you definitely would be paying more for everything else. Each visit has been affordable and the staff is really very customer-oriented. Except for that one veterinarian, I would have to say I really enjoy taking my puppy here, I know that she is getting the best care and that I am not getting royally screwed over on the price. Dr. Pavlov is the worst vet I've ever taken my dog to, in her entire 12 years of life. I just relocated to San Antonio and was trying to find a vet that we could start getting adjusted to. I took her today to get checked up, because as she is 12 years old, I believe she has early stages of arthritis. When I told him why I brought her there he rudely said that she's fat. He asked me what I was feeding her and told him that I was feeding her exactly what he put her on a few months earlier, and have been exercising her as well. He was explaining that she could have thyroid problems that's why she's not losing weight, and that the only way we'd know that is if they did bloodwork. But they did not have ""time"" to do it, and they did not have ""time"" to do x-rays, I went in at 4pm and they close at 7pm. He did though, say I could leave with arthritis meds for her that could cause liver damage over the two weeks she'd take them. Everything he said was in a sarcastic manner, it's like he didn't want my service.\r \r You get exactly what you pay for here, the cheaper you pay, the crappier service you get. \r \r Don't take your pet to Dr. Pavlov, he's an embarassment. I've taken my dogs to Pavlov's for 10+ years now. ""Dr. P"" as some family members refer to him is fantastic. He really does care very much for the animals and takes excellent care of them. (And being a woman I have never encountered even a hint of the attitude the first reviewer mentioned...) Although I have thought some of the other vets under him were a little strange, no matter which vet I got they always took great care of my dogs and cared about them. His prices are very fair as well. more

I love , love love this vet hospital! I've been taking my animals to Dr. Pavlov for 8 years when my cat was diagnosed with FIP and Dr. Pavlov did an awesome job at comforting myself and my family once we knew for sure it was time for Sam to go. I trust NO other vet with the lives of my animals. Never had a rude experience. They can't always get you in that day but that goes to show how popular his place is and how people trust the vets there. We were so impressed with our handling that my daughter made a child's book about our experience with him and our cat. It currently stays in the waiting room being proudly displayed. I have been a client of Dr. Pavlov's for a number of years now and though the facility is an older building and very plain on the inside waiting area, the service has always been perfect for us. The staff always tries to get us in the same day I call or whenever is convenient for us. The handling of our pets during exams (both dog and cat) has always been very gentle but thorough. They always answer ALL of my questions. I have never been price ""gouged"" or ""shocked"" by a bill, ever. The staff does not prescribe unnecessary products and will let you know if there is a home remedy you can do instead of a pricey name brand treatment. We travel overseas often and Dr. Pavlov has prepared all necessary lab tests, shots and health certificates needed for us to keep our pets with us for 3 countries now. The office does sometimes have new people in the front as receptionists, and some may not have given the warm fuzzy feelings we have expected or wanted that day, but anytime I have ever brought that to the staff's attention, it never happened again. I have a very friendly relationship with the girls up there, and please believe me when I say that the office stays very busy, and there is VERY little space behind that counter (especially with the big black dog in the middle of the floor), and sometimes the girls are reaching over or behind or over each other to get a record or swipe a card, grab a pen and so forth--but the bottom line is you are there for the care of your pets--and the care has always been ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY WONDERFUL. You WILL SOMETIMES wait a little for your appointment, or to pay your bill, but I think they are worth it time and time again. Have a little patience for them and they will prove they are worth the wait! I promise. They also do grooming and boarding. I have used both and I am just as happy with those services as well. I have been to Pavlov's and I have never seen such a rude human being. Dr. Pavlov is cheap and cruel and is very degrateing towards women. I think he needs to return to Bolgaria where he comes from because this United States does not need this type of man in this country.He is very aggressive towards animals and his clinic is cheap and trashy like the uneducated staff that he has.
