Best Customer Service EVER! 6/25/2010

I discovered this place in 2008 and the rest is history. I've seen them on slow days, busy days, days with Miley Cyrus in there eating during lunch rush, they always treat you well. Bob is hilarious and has a dry sense of humor, you have to understand that or you'll think he's a jerk. Mario is a bussboy and he doesn't speak perfect English but understands it! Sharon is my favorite waitress in there she's off on Saturdays and Tuesdays though and only works during the day. The food isn't anything to go out of your way for but I go in 2-3 times a week to sit and have a soda with them and say hi or to have dinner with friends because of their amazing customer service. They have sweet potato fries and seasoned curly fries that aren't on the menu that are AMAZING! And ask BOB to handmake you his famous shakes and you will be blown away!! Their chicken strips are delicious but if you sit on patio you tend to get ignored a bit more because it's busy on the inside and people yell ""hey! Can i have this!"" and they do it right then and there. It's not like they do it on purpose. Any bad reviews are from people who don't have a sense of humor and just had a bad experience, this restraunt has an amazing group of people working at it!!! Pros: Great customer service, clean, great location, celeb hangout Cons: Pricey food is not always the most tastiest, Miley Cyrus. more

Look no further! 2/24/2009

I heard of Patys but never had dined there. I was asked by some friends to join them for brunch. I got to say this place is real good, hot coffee plenty of refills, bacon and eggs were great and I had a pancake instead of toast all I can say is you got to try it. I have been back twice since then, even having dinner last week was real impressive and their home made desserts (mile high cakes) were some of the best. I also must say their pricing is really good, the quality and amount of food you get. I can see why my friends all eat there. Pros: Pricing, food, service and parking more

GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE!! 1/26/2009

Patys is cheap and great!! I ordered a cinnamon roll for breakfast and it was huge and doughy!! It was bigger than my head!! it came very fast too along with our other DELICIOUS food! great service!! You never know what celebrity you'll run into either. I met Jay Leno down the street at Bob's Big Boy a couple nights before! I highly reccomend this restraunt!! more

Better to go to Marie Callender's across the street, Bob's Big Boy Up the street, or the liquor store on the corner! 9/19/2008

Entering Paty's, minimal effort was made to seat us. We were not welcomed, walked to our tables, nor were we given menus until much later (by the busboy). It was Friday night. It's hard to tell which was worse the food or the service. The waitress showed up, stood next to the table without so much as a hello. We simply ordered and she mumbled something back. My wife ordered clam chowder.I ordered soup and salad with a grilled cheese sandwich. When the soup came, it was placed without comment on the table. The clam chowder's bland flavor also lacked consistency. Salt, hot sauce, pepper, nothing could save it. My wife put it aside and happened to catch the attention of the waitress as she was walking by and said, ""I'd like to order a baked potato please."" The waitress didn't stop, just kept walking. We weren't sure until the potato came that she heard. Luckily, my wife wanted it plain anyway. At this point, none of the food was tasting good, all of it tasteless. We never got a refill on drinks, and the rest of the time we were ignored despite the fact it was not busy; everyone was down the street at Bob's Big Boy. At about the time, we decided we wanted dessert, the waitress walked by and placed the bill on the edge of the table without saying a word and giving us no chance to order dessert. At that point, we didn't want to sit there too much longer. Totally disgusted with their service. The manager snapped his fingers when I handed him the bill signifying to give him money. II felt like punching him. I tipped the undeserving waitress $2. We just want to say that in this economy when people eat out less, this kind of service is unacceptable. We will never go back. We do feel others got superior service and warmer welcomes than us. We were just strangers rolling by. I guess they don't like our kind in their neck of the woods. Across the street at Marie Callender's we had some good pie. Thanks for letting me rant. Pros: Busboys were more attentive than the waitress. They gave us water and brought us hot sauce when we asked for it. Cons: Pathetic service, bad attitudes from waitress and manager, bland food. A waste of time, money and stomach space. more

Worst service ever! 3/3/2008

Have been to Paty's before and the food is ok. Very similar to Bob's Big Boy but Paty's tends to be lacking in customer service. When going to Paty's I am always prepared for a wait but on my last visit..... we were completely overlooked by the waitresses. It was late afternoon and not busy at all. We were seated outside and given menus. We watched as others on the patio that had arrived at the same time as us had their orders taken and even watched in amazement as their meals were served. The waitresses would look at us but none of them ever came over to us. We waited... and waited... and waited. After 15 minutes of being completely ignored, we got up and went inside to tell the hostess that no waitress had ever helped us. She didn't seem to care much and looked over at the 2 waitresses that were near her filling condiments. They just watched us leave without even an apology. That has never happened to me before.... anywhere! It was absolutely unbelievable and thought it should be mentioned in a review. We will never go to Paty's again. We ended up going down the street to Bob's and had an excellent dinner with the usual excellent service. Pros: average food Cons: horrible customer service more

A place to remember..... 6/11/2007

I grew up in the neighborhood. I went there often and had THE best egg salad sandwiches ever. The staff was always friendly and the food was always good and like other users have said, you just never know when you might see the Fonz stop in for a bite. Pros: Wonderful bar seating with the option to sit outdoors. Cons: Don't have any. more

All-American Diner with a Valley-Cali Vibe 11/12/2006

Patys has the look of a diner that time forgot -- the 50's/60's architecture, the counter service and retro menu items, like patty melts, fried chicken and monte cristo sandwiches. But look inside the menu, and you'll see a full page of low-carb / high protein meals geared to the diet-conscious. Yes, you're in Toluca Lake, just a stone's throw from numerous movie & TV studios and record labels, and Paty's aims to please the locals. Unlike most of the other reviewers here, I had dinner instead of their legendary breakfasts or brunches. What did I get? Well, the 'famous broasted chicken' was crispy on the outside and flavorful and juicy on the inside. The coleslaw was just right, but the roll was pretty hard 'n dry, the baked potato somewhat over-baked and my clam chowder starter was pretty mediocre (and oddly orange-tinged). I'm sure the breakfast is worth a try -- but for dinner, it's not worth a special trip with so many worthy alternatives for your dining out dollar in the neighborhood. Pros: Good fried chicken, friendly service, funky 50's decor Cons: Mediocre pasta, boring chowder more

Good breakfast place, bad service 11/4/2006

I've eaten breakfast here a number of times during the week and on the weekends. Paty's can get very crowded and wait times can get long--so if you need something quick, get it to go or search elsewhere. Some of the waitresses are very slow and one seems like she might be getting too old to work anymore (I feel bad writing that but it's true). The food is really good though. Their omlettes are very good and their french toast is the best I've had in the area and not greasy. I'll gladly go again, but only when I'm not in a rush. more

Good food, mediocre service 10/22/2006

I had been wanting to eat at Paty's for the past few years but it just never happened until recently. It wasn't packed on the Saturday morning I finally made it, but the service didn't reflect the scarcity of patrons to be served. We were not offered coffee until we had been seated nearly five minutes and another table, who had just seated themselves, was immediately poured cups and we happened to be on the server's way back to the kitchen so she offered it to us as well. We never quite felt welcome, which may be something only felt by the regulars like those who were served coffee as they were still settling into their chairs.\r The food however was excellent, and almost made up for the lack of friendliness from our waitress. Their potatoes were delicious, as was the ""Scrabble"" that I ordered. Even the toast was above standard, very tasty and moist but crispy.\r I would recommend Paty's for the food, but the customer service at least on my one visit was not anywhere near the same level. Pros: Free, close parking Cons: Service more

Love This Place 12/7/2005

I've been going here for years and years. Love the weekend breakfasts. Just a great spot when you want something good to eat and don't want to go for an all-out dinner. Pros: food, ambiance more

Where to brunch 4/1/2003

This is still the place to be seen on Saturday and Sunday morning. Be prepared to wait (like any place) sit on the patio and enjoy the great weekend weather. There is usually a hand full of well know actors sitting some where on the patio or in their back room. They have a couple of young hip waitresses - get one of them. On Friday nights - you can get the cook to make your food the way you like it, even if that is a little 'off the menu'. Pros: great service, lots of parking, lots of outside table Cons: closes at 10 p.m. more

Good Cafe Food 6/27/2002

If you're tired of Bob's Big Boy (it's nearby) or you just want to try something similar but new, give Paty's a shot. It hasn't been there quite as long as Bob's, but close. The patio is nice. Order a grilled cheese or maybe something a little more daring, have a glass of wine and watch the passersby out on Riverside Drive. You never know when The Fonz might stop in for a bite. Pros: good food, good service, parking lot Cons: closes at 10pm more
