Best Selection, Great Prices! 4/26/2012

I went to the store for a prom dress for my daughter and I couldn't believe the selection. The first floor had hundreds if not thousands of wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride gowns and dresses, flower girl dresses and everything you need for a wedding. Downstairs, there were tons of prom dresses for every taste. There were also tuxedos for men and boys to rent or to buy. If you are going on a cruise and need a dress for ""dress-up night"", this is the place! Basically, this a one-stop shop for all formal occasions and I'll be going back when she's engaged to be married. Also, Pat said that if she didn't have our selection in stock and there was adequate time, she could order it for me out of one of the many catalogs she has there. Don't let some reviews prevent you from looking at the huge selection there. I would rather buy a dress or my gown inexpensively than pay for a glittery store. Besides, in this economy it's better to take look than to just throw money away. We got a deal! more

Major rip-off business 4/24/2012

My wife ordered a dress, paid 100% down and two weeks later was told the dress was ruined in transit. She went in to try to find something off the rack, received no help from the owner and asked for her money back. The owner told her there were no refunds, even for a product we never received, only store credit. When I went in to talk to the owner she basically said ""Too bad"" and walked away. Our next call will be to the Maine Attorney General's office. STAY AWAY from this store. more

Dont be swayed 3/29/2012

The timeline for my wedding was very crunched and paying for our wedding ourselves was such a huge stress. Patricia Bridal was the first place we tried. Although its a bit disorganized and Patricia comes off a bit absent minded, she was such a sweetheart and helped with whatever questions we had. My sister in law found her dress in a matter of minutes. Being a small girl finding a size 6 was quite difficult since most of her stock is 10+ but when I found the size 6 and looked at the price it was 50% off! I got thee perfect dress, that fit me right off the rack for 50% off! And the corset was built right into it! I got a $700 dress for $350! and to top it off the dress my sister in law got was a sample share and because of that Patricia gave it to us for the price she paid saving my mother in law 50% as well! My dress is so stunning and perfect! You never know until you look! I am completly satisfied! She would get 5 stars if it were a bit more organized! more

Bad Business Woman 1/2/2012

This is not a good business to shop at. She is not professional. Be careful of her refund policy which she does not discuss with you at time of sale.\r If you put 50%-75%-100% down do not expect a refund for any reason. She will give you a so called credit but will give you nothing to prove you have a so called credit.\r we asked many times and got nothing. more

I would give her business any day and Would Recommend her to anyone! I know multiple people who have gone to her and loved what they got and the price! 5 STARS!! more

NO STARS - AWFUL SERVICE - DIRTY STORE 9/30/2011

This Store and it's owner doesn't even deserve a star on the ratings guide!\r \r DON""T WASTE YOUR TIME AT PATRICIA BUCK BRIDAL!!!!!\r \r I and friends have had multiple bad experiances with this store, and Patricia Buck specifically! (Who is the owner) \r --- Store is FILTHY! My shoe even stuck to the \r carpet. Something smells. There are boxes\r and dirt all over the floor. \r \r --- I've called to ask about specific dresses when I\r was getting married because another sales \r associate was supposed to get back to me after I'd\r already visited the store and did not. Patricia \r Buck answered the phone, but told me she was \r too busy to help me. I eventually went somewhere \r else, and GLADLY paid more for the very same\r dress because the sales associate there was \r very helpful and kind AND she was out of state!\r \r --- My friend had this experiance - she had shoes\r died there and they came out AWFUL.\r and when she told her she was dissatisfied, \r Patricia Buck, argued with her about the color of \r the shoe, amoungst other complaints\r other customers in the store overheard \r and agreed with me, and couldn't believe how \r rude she was. Just imagine....this is just a SHOE \r DYING. If this were a wedding dress alteration I \r would be even more mortified and offended. Her \r customer service leaves much to be desired. I hope\r the other ladies who were in the store that told me \r they couldn't believe how rude Patricia Buck was left\r the store and didn't give her any business.\r \r --- Another friend went to the store simply to get \r measured, and though she didn't elaborate, said\r she was MORE than dissatisfied with the customer \r service there.\r \r I'm simply writing this review because after my experiance, I started talking with friends about it and they mentioned how awful their experiances had been as well. I will never go there again!\r \r more

Nice place for all your wedding attire 8/20/2011

I have gone through Pat for more than two generations of wedding party's.\r \r \r She has been in the business for more years than I can count. I have referred her shop to friends and family for long planned wedding to last minute mothers and for brides. Even for gowns needing complete alteration repair. All have been completely satisfied with her work., and gratefull she is very experienced person in the business. \r While shopping at Pats the atmosphere has been nice and pleasant. Ive never been uncomfortable aS far as the temperater is concerned. Of course, we all know when we start trying on gown after gown, it does get to be a chore and a lot of work. Pat always pressing on till we find what we came in for, \r Her customer service and experiance makes it all worth while to shop at P. buck bridlal.\r \r Best regards to all up and coming brides to be and wedding parties. Go with someone who knows the buisness. Its only ONE day for the rest of your life, make it right, Pat has been a life saver!!\r Thank you,\r Andrea\r (Long time customer)\r more

Don't waste your time 7/4/2011

I (like a few other people on here) signed up just so that I could leave a review of this store. Patricia does have a lot of inventory... but that's about the only good thing I can say about her shop. First of all, I started my gown search in the winter and I am being dramatic when I say that I dreaded trying on dresses at her shop! It was always SO cold that I could only handle trying on a few dresses before I gave up and left. If you plan on looking through the dresses please make sure you have a lot of time becuase Patricia is no help at all when it comes to finding something you would like. She does not know where her gowns are and I spent many hours searching for my bridesmaid dresses so that my girls could try them on. I did in fact purchasse the bridesmaids dresses from her which is something that I terribly regret. First of all, she wasn't any help with sizing my girls and second of all she would get distracted and wonder off for long periods of time, leaving us (i had 6 bridesmaids!) standing there totally clueless about what to do next. The time it took for the dresses to come in was horrible, and she was incredibly rude to me each encounter I had with her. One of the girls she had working for her was amazing... she was the only reason I bought the dresses from there. She is also the reason I am giving Patricia Buck Bridal a sort of good instead of an eh. My advice is to avoid this place at all costs! I actually bought my dress at Sweet Love in Gardiner and they were incredible! They have their own tailor (very good and not too costly!) and they have a lady who can custom make veils and accessories! Patricia may have a reputation for reasonable prices but my maid of honor bought her dress at a bridal shop in PA and paid less than Patricia charged my other girls! I think that she is a decitful, scattered woman who I would never give business to again. more

Highly Recommended 6/16/2011

When Kevin popped the question I knew immediately I would find my gown at Patricia Buck Bridal. I have been getting gowns there (prom, semi-formals, balls, etc...) since high school. Whether you're on a budget or not Patricia Buck Bridal has a dress for you! Known as Maine's largest Bridal Store Patricia Buck has always been proud to carry quality gowns and dresses at competitive prices. \r Pat Buck has always given me her full attention and has always actively listened to my needs as a customer. In fact, I have always wanted a Mantilla Veil and was bummed when I realized how pricey they are and thought I may have to opt for a regular veil. However, Pat found a Pronovias Mantilla (which is the maker of my gown...PERFECT) she had in stock which she is selling to me at a very fair price! I was ECSTATIC! \r I would highly recommend Patricia Buck Bridal for your wedding gown shopping experience. more

Very Pleasant Experience 10/31/2010

My daughters and granddaughter and I enjoyed a very pleasant experience at Patricia Buck Bridal when selecting a wedding dress there recently. For starters, we have never seen such an extensive inventory to choose from! Patricia is every knowledgeable, friendly and helpful - and patient - as we tried on gown after gown until we found ""the right one"". We are very satisfied with the product and the price. The store decor is a little dated, but strangely, it added to the experience. We felt we were in the hands of a seasoned professional, who didn't try to push anything we weren't interested in on us. I hope the alternations by the seamstress we were recommended to goes as well! more

Love Patricia! 8/29/2010

My sister got engaged and it was a big surprise to all of us. She set her wedding date for two months and she didn't have any time to be picky, but she was picky and didn't like anything she tried on.. She and I kept shopping for her wedding dress and we found Patricia Buck bridal in Augusta. I was sure this trip was ANOTHER waste of time, but Patricia took my crazy sister into her racks and racks of dresses and I made her promise not to let her out until she found a dress. (Let someone besides me deal with her...lol) I was shocked when she actually liked the first dress she tried on, and then the second, and then the third. We should have come here first. Bottom line, bride is beyond happy with her dress and it didn't break the bank. Patricia was wonderful, patient and funny. My sister is a happy camper!! She feels like a princess!! Thank you! more

Sweet Love - New bridal store in Augusta area 3/1/2010

For brides looking for high end designer gowns, there is a new store in Gardiner, Maine, just 10 minutes from Augusta. The shop, called Sweet Love, carries Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Cymbeline, Pronovias, Melissa Sweet, and more. The gowns are both new and used, which allows brides to get these designer brands at a lower price. They are also accepting gowns on consignment for brides who want to give their dress a second life. Pros: High end designer gowns for a great price more

Great Selection, Poor Record-Keeping 9/21/2009

I actually signed up to write a review. I went to the store after finding ""the dress"" but not being able to afford it. I found out Patricia is the only one in the area who stocks Pronovias so I went. The help consisted of pointing me to the area of Pronovias dresses. No suggestions of similar dresses or anything... Well I found a gorgeous Pronovias dress and ordered it in March, for an October Wedding. I had to keep calling for an update come September and called three times before anyone got back to me. My also called with the power of the credit card and finally got a ship date. Turns out the dress was in the store that day, but nobody told me. I called on that day to find out when it would arrive and was informed that I had a fitting appointment for the next day in the middle of the day! (Hello, I work and it would have been nice if someone had told me.) My mom was coming up the next day so we made the hour long trip after getting the seamstress to schedule me. Turns out she didn't have time to pin me, and ""didn't realize I was there for a fitting"" (why would I make an appointment to come look at my dress.....). She then told me not to worry, to come back in two weeks and she would fit me. (My wedding was two weeks from the proposed fitting date). She was up to her elbows in someone's dress who was getting married THE NEXT DAY! That scared us, so we took the dress and had it altered elsewhere. Patricia valiantly tried to get me to leave the dress but we found someone else who could see us in a few days. (I had also seen the poor reviews about alterations, so it actually worked out.)\r \r The dress is beautiful but they have horrible record-keeping and don't call you back. Pros: Beautiful Dress Cons: Hassle to work with more

Service with a Smile 6/23/2009

While shopping for a white graduation dress for my daughter, we looked through their stock ourselves. We found a couple of pieces she liked, but not ""the"" dress. Then Catherine came and talked to her for a few minutes to find out what she liked about the dresses she had tried on. Within 15 minutes, my daughter had ""the"" dress and we were on our way! Pros: They know their stock! Cons: Crowded store....because of so much stock... more

a great store!! 3/5/2009

I?d like to say a good word about this store, and to state that I am so glad that I did not pay too much attention to the derogatory remarks I read on the online sites. Thanks to Patricia Buck my daughters wedding was so amazingly beautiful and I am so delighted that I just had to drop this quick line to say so. From the time we walked in we were treated kindly. Kathleen, by her humorous and patience ways handled all the fittings and really helped to discern which ensemble would work best for the brides? maids. My daughter is picky and can be short to work with, but Pat and Kathleen were so kind and tender that we all had great fun putting the whole wedding together. I can?t say enough good about Patricia Buck -- Thank-you my dear for making my daughters day so wonderful Pros: easy to find - no appointments needed - best selection ever Cons: the building itself is old and looks a little dindy in winter more

Wonderful!! 2/27/2009

My wedding was to be in June of 2005. I went to Patricia Buck on a Saturday in November, 2004 and it was not busy, actually I was the only one in the store. They only had two fitting rooms, well actually one large one with a sheet in between to make it two. That was okay with me cause unlike David's Bridal, I could move around and have two to three other people in with me. (it was the size of a good sized bathroom) After trying on numerous dresses, I found ""the one"". It's funny cause I had actually seen it in a bridal magazine and couldn't believe they had it in the store. I ordered my dress, veil, and tiara and put 50% down. Well long story short, a little suprise named Avery was born 7 months later and the wedding was postponed. I never paid the other 50% for my dress and never got to wear it. After my daughter was born we attempted to get married again...this time my husband to be got deployed to Iraq so we had a quickie wedding at his mother's(no dress). Now, I had always dreamed of the fairytale wedding and It seemed as though I wasn't going to get it and I still didn't have my dress!!! Katherine, of David's Bridal, was so nice when I called her the second time to tell her the wedding was off. She sent me a nice note letting us know she was thinking of us and that her church was praying for us. What a wonderful person!!\r \r I was recently asked to be a bridemaid in my girlfriend's wedding and that got me to thinking about my wedding dress(still at Patricia Bucks), so I made a call and got Katherine on the phone. I explained my situation and she was going to check to make sure the dress was still there. IT WAS!!! So now, five years later, married with two children I'm finally going to go pick up my dress and bring it home. It's not altered or anything and I have to lose about 60 pounds to fit into after having two kids, but one day when we renew our vows...I CAN'T WAIT!!! \r \r What wonderful people and customer service! more

The dirtiest store I have ever been to! 2/19/2009

My mother, Aunt, and I went to Patricia Buck's a couple of weeks ago to look for a Mother of the Bride dress for my wedding in July. We had read the reviews/warnings so we were prepared. All the negative reviews we read were right on the money! When we first entered the store we were told that we ha to take our shoes off and put on scuzzy dirty slippers because they didn't want to get the floor dirty. I guess would be understandable if the store was remotely clean! Our shoes would not have gotten the floor as dirty as our socks would have gotten if we didn't have our shoes on. They focus was more on the shoes than offering us customer service. Besides the dirt that causes my mother to have an allergic reaction in her eyes, the store was a disaster with boxes everywhere, dirty mirrors that did not allow you to see what you really looked like in the dress, outdated selection and dresses without pieces. To make matters worse my mother actually found a dress she liked but it had been discontinued in 2005... 4 years ago!! Nothing like not updating your selection! Once we had figured out that the dress was not being made anymore, Patricia said she was going to call the company to see if they might still have some available and she would call my mother back. She never got in touch with her and as I said it has been about 2 weeks. \r \r So I guess to make a long story short do not go to this place!!! Cons: Dirty more

Don't waste your time 8/6/2008

My sister is getting married this Saturday. We ordered 6 Bridesmaids dresses and all of the sizes were ordered wrong even though they were measured there. They then proceeded to try and charge for alterations to the all the dresses (even though they had ordered the wrong sizes.) One of the bridesmaids lives in Georgia and was here in April to get fitted. A week before the wedding the dress had still not been altered. (In August) Finally, they told my sister they had to order the dress she wanted to try onto her Credit Card but if she didn't want it they wouldn't charge her for it. This was stupid on her part but she ordered it and then decided she didn't want that one for her big day. Needless to say they are charging her for a dress she's not even going to wear. My recommendation....Don't waste your time here. Pros: Good Selection of Dresses Cons: Lousy service and they try to rip you off more

ABOVE & BEYOND CUSTOMER SERVICE - THANK YOU KATHLEEN 4/19/2008

I am the mother of the groom and ladies I would highly recommend this shop. I travelled 60 miles from\r Portland to this shop because the bridal shops in Greater Portland and Southern Maine lacked selection of dresses for mothers. Frankly some shops in Portland wouldn't give me the time of day because I wasn't the bride. Yes, I was a little apprehensive about travelling 60 miles because of the few bad reviews I see on this site, but ladies believe me it is worth the trip. You need to experience this place yourself. Granted it is not the glitz and glitter of a Portland shop but the service was impeccable and the selection of dresses for moms was great. Kathleen was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and caring. This shop has it all.\r Bridal dresses, bridal party dresses, shoes, undergarments and yes mother of the bride dresses and not just a size 6. Many other larger sizes as well. There is a seamstress on site and they even dye your shoes to match your dress right on site. I was very impressed with Kathleen. I was not rushed and she made me feel special. After reading the other reviews, I can only say ""1 or 2 bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch"". I would suggest that you take the time to visit this shop and ask for Kathleen. You won't be disappointed. Pros: great service, lots of selection, eveything under one roof ,love kathleen Cons: atmosphere more
