I have no idea how they have won awards. I agree 100% with Licha S. Tried it once and have never been back. more

Not good... 5/5/2012

Went to the restaurant to celebrate a birthday (Dec '11) Party of 10, private room. Horrible service. Waitress very slow and poor timing. Took our dinner order right after the 2 appetizer trays were delivered. After 10 orders, the hot apps were cold and the cold apps were warm. Birthday person's steak was ordered medium rare, came out well. Food horribly overpriced, bad service and mediocre food quality. Lobster, aweful. Live music from the bar, worse. All a big NO!!!! more

Wonderful!! 4/22/2012

Me and my husband decided to try out the new place for our 20th anniversary. We both found it to be nice and romantic. Our server was great, he paid good attention to us and he was very personable. We got the jumbo lump crab for an appetizer, filet oscar and chicken alfredo for dinner. Everything was delicious and we plan on coming back in the near future. more

I would not go here again if it was free. I am a lover of Greek food...seriously I could eat it every day. I am also obsessed with spanakopita (spinach pie) and I order it anywhere that has it. This is not Greek food. They barely have anything on their menu that could be classified as so. First things first, if Kroger has better spanakopita than you do, that is a problem. The ranch on the salad was watered down to the point that it really did not taste like ranch at all. The flank steak was more like a glorified hamburger steak with WAY too much seasoning. The tzatziki sauce tasted more like horseradish than anything. The garlic mashed potatoes were pretty good, I'll give them that. The server wasn't horrible, but she was slow. The very worst thing was the live music in the bar. I really hope they didn't pay this guy because it was awful. I seriously wanted to cut out my eardrums. ""Surfer girl"" country style...really?? On top of that was the random radio playing. It was super annoying. So much so that I left without eating much of my food because I simply couldn't take it anymore. So, for $38 and some change ( I left a $7 tip cause I'm not a jerk and it wasn't the server's fault) I got a champagne spritzer, a mellow yellow, spanakopita, and the flank steak meal. I regret the entire experience and will never go ever again. First and last time. I don't understand why this restaurant has won awards...it is not good. It is really disappointing at best. more

disappointing 5/23/2011

My husband and I use to go to the Parthenon Grille when it was in its old building. Then, the Parthenon was by far the most romantic, quiet, and intimate restaurant in Murfreesboro. The food was delicious and bursting with wonderful flavors. The service was impeccable. The whole experience in general was more personable. We loved it and always enjoyed our quiet date nights away from the kids. Now the Parthenon is in its beautiful new building, and unfortunately I would much rather go to the small, older, not nearly enough parking, hard to get out of building across the street. The Parthenon Grille lost everything but appearance when they moved. The food was bland, the service was terrible, and the whole atmosphere was different. The night we went, we were almost elbow to elbow with 3 different occupied tables. I guess their motto went to more quantity and less quality. The old Parthenon I wouldnt dream of taking a 3 year old and an infant to. The new Parthenon, well....pretty much turned into another chili's or applebee's where it wont matter if you take your kids to, due to the noise. I was not uncomfortable when my 3 year old got a bit loud. No one even noticed. Also, they actually started doing a 2 for $20??? All I can say is wow... Went to the new Parthenon twice. We havent nor wont be back. more

New to Parthenon and LOVED it! 1/4/2011

My husband and I never ventured to the ""Old Parthenon"" but have recently visited the ""New Parthenon"" several times and have loved it. We enjoyed the quaint corner booth in the bar area. We have deemed it our Date Night Spot. more

Lost that lovin' feeling 11/9/2010

I can see I'm not by myself....this was the restaurant we loved to visit for special occasions and for just a romantic night out. Quiet, soft background music, candles on the tables, sometimes a live piano... for many years this was the best in food and ambiance. Perhaps the happy hour crowd has made up the difference in revenue, but the new structure, while attractive, is cold to the touch. The noise level is beyond conversation (could be the cold stone floors contribute) and it seems to have reached the food also. While the food still had a familiar aura, it lacked the combined flavor and feel of the old place. Even though it came hot to the table, it seemed a little cold.... to go from unique to vanilla is so sad. Goodbye Old Parthenon....hello to another O'Charleys. more

Long Time Favorite Disappoints 11/5/2010

I am a long-time patron of The Parthenon restaurant, even remembering when it was the only, and I mean only, restaurant in Murfreesboro where you could celebrate a birthday or anniversary with sophistication, grace, and excellent food. So I was looking forward to visiting the restaurant at its new location. Unfortunately, I was disappointed both of the times that I went to the new place. First, the building is beautiful, elegant in an understated way, but the architect neglected to take into consideration the acoustics. The restaurant is noisy, sounds reverberating up into the open high ceiling, so the character of the restaurant loses its quiet ambiance. The new bar is cold in atmosphere, no intimacy, or closeness like the old one. My favorite place at the former location was the bar and its Florida room where you could enjoy a quiet, intimate dinner. The new bar is like any other and in general void of personality. Now to the food. The Caesar salad was traditional and excellent in its generosity of Feta cheese, but it was soaked in dressing?just too much of a good thing. I had the New York strip steak with a Bearnaise sauce topped with shrimp and mushrooms?a very nice blend of flavors, but on the edge of my steak was a thick slice of fat and gristle that I could barely remove given the inferior steak knife, not to mention the cost of the entre was exorbitant considering how much fat was on the steak. So overall I was dissatisfied, and would just as soon visit a chain like the Bonefish Grill than return to a restaurant that has lost its unique quality of the ?old country.? more

Best local fine dining 10/20/2010

Wonderful food! Great wine selection. Good for a special occasion or just a nice out. Salmon and steak are my favorites. Week night specials are great too! more

Wonderful selection 8/16/2010

If your tired of all the other chains in the game and are looking for a new selection check out the Parthenon Grille. We had an excellent time and highly enjoyed the Rack of Lamb and the Mahi-Mahi. Their new location is beautiful and very modern. The wait isn't to long and the service is top-notch! Enjoy your evening! more

What a disappointment! 7/17/2010

Wow, we are heart broken -Parthenon has been a family favortie for over 25 years, special occasions, birthdays, anniversarys etc. You could always count on the quiet, peaceful environment, and ALWAYS count on the quality of the food. The new restaurant should not even be carrying the same name....loud, noisy , no quiet conversations going on in this restaurant, and atmosphere is a yuppie meat market. Had to send both our dinners back, one steak really overc ooked and one dish completely not as described on specials, waited over another 1/2 hour replacements. When the replacements came, still mediocre.. Very sad, farewell to the old Parthenon, we will miss you. Cons: loud, mediocre food, long wait for food more

parthenon not what it used to be 5/10/2010

we WERE long time patrons of the OLD parthenon restaurant. we loved the atmosphere the piano, fireplace, linen table clothes..and a QUIET romantic atmosphere. we thought we'd try out the NEW parthenon grille. YUK!!!!!! what a horrid experience. first off we went into the bar to be seated and told them we didnt want to EAT in there we were going to have drinks until a table came open. well they came to seat us and they pointed to a table directly behind us in the bar!! DUHHHHHHHHHHH! if we wanted to eat in the bar we could have eaten at the table we already were at!! sheesh! then we were seated in the restaurant. got the menus and guess what? NO PRIME RIB!! my favorite. they had taken it off the menu and the waitress said they had had numerous complaints about it. so i thought ok ill order a shrimp cocktail at least i can have that. guess what? we were told by the waitress ""sorry we r out of shrimp, it was mtsu's graduation and we were slammed"" i thought and u all werent PREPARED for mtsus graduation? then we ordered a bottle of wine we didnt recieve and then finally asked about it and were told... ""sorry they r behind in the bar"" how long does it take to get a bottle of wine out and uncork it? its not like mixing a drink. no salt and pepper shakers on the table we had to get up and get them from another table. they didnt bring our bread with our meal.we had to ask for that. and it was cold and hard. plus we were JAMMED into a postage stamp sized table against the wall to add insult to injury. this place doesnt even RESEMBLE the old wondeful parthenon. plzzzzzzzzzz reopen the other place!! plus it was noisey we had to yell to even hear each other. warning to others do NOT go here!! go to the chop house!! it has a MUCH better atmosphere and they have prime rib there! it was my birthday on top of it all. needless to say we will NEVER patronize the parthenon ever again!! Cons: u name it more

Great Food at reasonable price 3/21/2010

Me and my nephews went in for lunch the other day and it was an absolute treat. I arrived early by myself so I went ahead got seated. The server greeted me right away. He was extremely kind and very knowledgeable of the wine list when I asked about the house wine. He also had the most gorgeous green eyes ;) ... Anyways, the menu was surprisingly cheap, so I expected small portions, but when I ordered the the club sandwich, it was 2 pretty good size sandwiches, plus it came with a side of sweet potato fries which were delicious. I will definitely be back for dinner with my husband very soon. Pros: Food and Service Cons: Not Pepsi products more

New changes not good 3/10/2010

My husband and I went here 12 yrs ago for our rehersal dinner. It was wonderful. They just moved in their building across the street. We went on Wed.,3-10-2010. Our favorites they no longer have and the quality of what they do serve was terrible. No Parthenon King steak, no rasberry vinaigrette dressing. The new building is cold, dark and noisy. I hope they at least correct the food situation but wish they would open the old building back up with the warm fire place, wonderful piano and the peaceful atmosphere. We won't be back. We are heartbroken. Pros: there were no pros Cons: food quality and choices downhill since new building more

Fantastic!!!! 8/21/2009

My husband decided to surprise me for our 10th wedding anniversary by taking me here for a romantic dinner. It was wonderful! The pianist was playing, white table linens and candles filled the room, and the smell of food was to die for! Our table had been set up with roses my husband brought earlier and the server brought us our special bottle of wine right away. Our server was absolutely darling, a very cute blonde who knew exactly how to take care of us. She recommended an appetizer and meals to go with our wine as well as some homemade creme brulle to send us off with! I recommend this place for everyone! I will definately be going again and again and again- even for just a Tuesday night dinner! Pros: best steak, best atmosphere, best service more

Great Food & a Great Place to Return To! 8/8/2009

My experience at The Parthenon Restaurant was supurb! To start, the hostess helped us get the perfect table for us to sit, then she was very knowledgeable of the menu and told us everything we asked. The server that we had was excellent, he knew what he was doing and he made our experience that much better! And the food, let me say, was great; from the soup and salad, to the entree, and the dessert was amazing. We had a great time because the atmosphere was just perfect for a night out! I definitely would reccomend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat. Pros: Great Service & A++ Food more

Absolutely Terrible 7/25/2009

Went there with two couples. The atmosphere was terrible and our waitress was rude. It took an hour to get our entrees and we ended up sending some back. The food was overcooked and the presentation was terrible. Even after we sent food back no manager appeared to talk to us. I guess they really don't care about their customers. Overpriced as well. I wrote a letter of complaint to the owner. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Decent Wine Selection Cons: Service, Food, Atmosphere more

Grest Steak and Salmon 7/16/2009

Their steak is really good. Most places in the area overcook steak. I had a NY Strip, and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I also had salmon the next time, and it was great. They have an excellent selection of wine and appetizers. Pros: Good food Cons: Prices, Atmosphere more

wonderful Steaks and Prime Rib 4/9/2009

We recommend this place to anyone who wants a romantic dinner for two with a glass of wine and beautiful piano music. definitly 5 stars. Pros: excellent service Cons: a little crowded at times more
