Pleasant Surprise in Downtown Duluth 12/6/2010

Wednesday nites include a $10.00 Wine Sampling\r with 4 selections to experience. (pouring is generous!)\r \r Went for dinner Wednesday night (12/1) with 4 other business associates and no one was disappointed. Appetizers (Crabcakes, Spring Rolls, Fried Grn Tomatoes) and Main courses (Beef Stew special, Salmon, Baked Chicken w/ Risotto) were tremendous and the service was attentive. \r \r Sharing Chocolate Custard w/ Cake-Donut balls was a fun experience too, but you had to be there!\r \r You'd think during winter that the antique/charming establishment would be drafty, but nary a chill to be found. On the whole, you won't be disappointed to go with a group, or with a date. Can't wait to take my wife here whenever we find ourselves away from the kids for an evening! (Perhaps an outing on the deck when it warms up again. ) 5 stars for sure!\r more

Excellent 11/1/2010

Went for dinner Friday night and were very pleased, food was good and the service excellent. We shared the crab cake appetizer which was pretty good though a little ""soggy"" and accompanied with a bit too much remoulade, it had a really good flavor though. I had the roasted chicken with mac & cheese. The chicken was perfectly cooked with the skin nice and crispy. I normally don't like the skin but this was excellent. My husband had the lamb t-bones which he thought was good. There was a little mix up with our reservation which Michael solved without any issues. The restaurant is beautiful and they have a gorgeous patio which I hope to enjoy next time. more

Steve & Michele says try this place! 9/14/2010

After reading some of the online reviews, which were almost all positive, I decided to take my girlfriend and try this place out. Park Cafe was great! The food was excellent. The ambiance was romantic, which was great because my girlfriend and I had a special occasion to celebrate. The prices were very reasonable. The manager, C.J., did a great job at making us feel welcome and appreciated. The only thing that could have improved the experience would be if the server was a bit more attentive. I rate Park Cafe a 9.5 out of 10! I will definitely be back and I'll tell friends about it. more

Romantic, Good food, Value 3/7/2009

This is a rare find...superb food and wine at a very affordable wallet friendly prices. Over the past 12 years in ATL, we have eaten at almost every decent restaurant. As dinks, we go out 4 to 5 times a week...Park Cafe ranks in my top 10. Every wednesday evening is wine tasting - $10 for 4 glasses. Check this place out if you are in North Atlanta...won't be disappointed. Vidalia Onion Bake Dip is one of the best appetizers I have had in a while. If you are into fish...the Salmon is incredible. My wife loves the Roasted Chicken Breast with Creamy ""mac & cheese"". Good terrace overlooking the park if you are into outdoor eating. Pros: Value, Quality, Easy Parking, No long waits more

Classic and Cozy Dining Spot 12/5/2008

My husband and I recently visited the Park Cafe on a Wednesday evening for dinner and the weekly wine tasting. The atmosphere in this historic old house is warm and charming. We thoroughly enjoyed sampling four delicious wines for $10 per person, and the food was to DIE for! Our waitress was helpful without hovering; service was gracious, efficient, and upscale, but not stuffy. The manager stopped by the table to introduce the wines and to tell us a little about each one; a handout was also provided. The chef stopped by our table briefly to check on us and chat. Both were very personable. I had a horseradish-encrusted salmon that was one of the most perfectly prepared pieces of fish I have ever eaten. It came with deliciously seasoned potatoes and just-wilted fresh spinach. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his trout. Portions were generous. The sweet, fresh rolls were amazing; we ordered a refill on the basket and relished every butter-smeared crumb. I ordered a classic caesar salad; my husband had the mixed green salad. Both were fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The restaurant specializes in interesting wines and offers a retail area where patrons can purchase wines by the bottle to take home. We have eaten at the Park Cafe several times and highly recommend it. Pros: Food, wine, ambiance, service, welcome Cons: Somewhat limited parking more

Great food, Awesome atmosphere, but bad service 5/10/2008

I have lived right down the street from the Park Cafe for the past 3 years and have been dying to try it. Grandma took the baby for the night so that my boyfriend and I could enjoy a night out. Finally, I get to dine at this cute & cozy little restaurant that I've been eyeing in downtown Duluth. The atmosphere is awesome! I love restaurants located in historic houses or in historic downtowns. Upon entering, the host asked if we had reservations. We said we didn't & they still sat us. We even got to choose which table to sit at. We, of course, chose to sit outside since it was a nice night. The menu was short & sweet. My boyfriend had the chicken and mac n' cheese and I ordered the pork chops w/ sweet potato gnocci. The food was mouth-watering! I paced myself and tried to save some to take home & savor later (also so I could save some room for dessert). Everything about the restaurant was great, except for the waitress. I don't know if she was just new or if she thought we weren't high class enough to dine there, but we felt ignored by her all night. First, she didn't offer us any bread like the other waiters did w/ their tables. Then, she didn't let us know of their daily specials or come check on us once our meal was serverd. After we were done eating, she immediately brought us our check w/o even bothering to ask if we would be interested in some desserts or coffee. Finally, it took her a good while to even come back to pick up our check. Needless to say, we did not leave her a good tip. If I were solely rating this restaurant on their food or atmosphere, I would've given them 5 stars. However, I feel that service makes up a large part of the dining experience. It's sad to say since this is a classy restaurant, but I've had better service at Chili's. Pros: Fantastic food and romantic atmosphere Cons: Bad service more

The food was insane! 4/28/2008

I never take the time to review anything. But I felt compelled to write about this little known restaurant tucked into Downtown Duluth. The food was absolutely delicious.... even down to the rolls! The fried green tomatos were possibly the best I have ever had... highly recommend. I had the roasted chicken breast atop creamy 'mac and cheese'. Two words: yumm - y. The service was wonderful - Jamie was our waitress. We are definitly coming back to try out their brunch. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere - patio, wine list Cons: Not a one. more

Great New Years Eve Dinner 1/1/2008

I was looking for a quaint ,cozy and romantic restaurant to take my wife for dinner on New Years Eve and found this Cafe on Citysearch.\r It was our first time there and will not be the last. The service, attentiveness, food quality and wine was excellent and we were very impressed with the experience in all. I highly recommend the Park Cafe to everyone. We will be regular patrons as we look forward to trying different items on the menu. Thank you Park Cafe for a wonderful dining experience as you made our New Years Eve dinner special. Pros: All food was made to order! Not a fast food restaurant!! Cons: Additional parking would be an asset. more

Beautiful, quaint jewel in downtown Duluth 10/7/2007

I've lived about 1 mile from Park Cafe for the last 2 1/2 years, and can't believe it took me so long to try this place!!! It has become my new favorite restaurant, that's for sure. I've driven past it so many times, and thought how adorable it looked. Finally, my husband and I decided to go there for our 2 year anniversary. It was so wonderful, we sat out on the deck- it was a gorgeous evening. Our server was fantastic- the food was incredible!! The whole experience was just beautiful. When we were getting ready to wrap up, our server brought us champagne as a suprise- we had mentioned that we didn't need dessert as we had dessert at home to celebrate our anniversary. \r I truly love this quaint little place, and will absolutely make a point to come back often. We ordered the goat cheese and tomato appetizer - to die for; the tomato napolean salad- yummy; and then we kind of split the salmon and the shrimp and grits. Everything we ate was wonderful. Definitely recommend for a quiet, romantic evening. more

A Must Try 9/21/2007

My husband and I came across this restaurant a few weeks ago and are THRILLED to have found it!! We recently moved out to the suburbs from the Virgina Highlands area and miss our unique restaurants...everything we've found is a chain or in a strip mall. When we went to the Park Cafe we felt like we had found our neighborhood bistro!! It is quaint and the food is delicious. The manager was very personable and made some great recommendations on the wine. The outdoor seating is fantastic. They have a small retail wine shop in the front and the prices are very reasonable and they have some unique selections. We will become regulars at the Park Cafe and encourage we know to give it a try. more

Best Sunday Brunch 6/9/2007

Having eaten lunch there several times it was no great surprise their Sunday brunch was outstanding. What was a very pleasant surprise was their French toast. The perfect combination of vanilla and cinnamon combined with the powdered sugar left a flavorful memory to which we will return.\r \r If you are going for Sunday brunch - be sure to make reservations. \r Pros: Good food Cons: Difficult parking sometimes more

Cant say enough. 8/15/2006

I cannot say enough about this perfect place. I hosted my rehersal dinner here in May. The staff was so great to work with ( Bob was wonderful ) . The food was absolute perfection. This is a perfect place for either a nice dinner out with friends and family, or can be a romantic evening for a nice date. The historic house where the resturant is located is the perfect atmosphere. \r The food here is absolutly great. I cannot really recommend just ONE thing. Its all great. Dont worry about it taking to long to get to you -- the service is very quick and friendly. Again - I cannot say enough about this place. I will return and highly recommend this place to anyone. \r Thanks again Bob -and the entire Park Cafe staff for such a memorable evening . Pros: EVERYTHING. more

best lobster bisque, wonderful restaurant 6/15/2006

I recently ate here for the first time....it reminds me of the old Liza's Cafe in Chamblee...it is probably the best food I have had in Atlanta...I ordered the lobster bisque....it was full of lobster meat and a huge portion....I have never had better....my husband had shrimp scampi and he said it was the best shrimp scampi he has ever eaten....my 4 year old son had a children's plate which was huge.....although I wouldn't recommend this for children...romantic ambience, linen tablecloths, etc...my son is extremely well behaved at the table so he was not a disruption to the other diners...in fact, a couple came over to compliment his behavior...however, I wouldn't take children here if they are prone to be noisy....the prices are reasonable...I was so impressed, I am taking the entire family here for Father's Day....in-laws, husband, my parents, etc.....it is such a wonderful place and the food is to die for. more
