My husband and I recently visited the Park Cafe on a Wednesday evening for dinner and the weekly wine tasting. The atmosphere in this historic old house is warm and charming. We thoroughly enjoyed sampling four delicious wines for $10 per person, and the food was to DIE for! Our waitress was helpful without hovering; service was gracious, efficient, and upscale, but not stuffy. The manager stopped by the table to introduce the wines and to tell us a little about each one; a handout was also provided. The chef stopped by our table briefly to check on us and chat. Both were very personable. I had a horseradish-encrusted salmon that was one of the most perfectly prepared pieces of fish I have ever eaten. It came with deliciously seasoned potatoes and just-wilted fresh spinach. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his trout. Portions were generous. The sweet, fresh rolls were amazing; we ordered a refill on the basket and relished every butter-smeared crumb. I ordered a classic caesar salad; my husband had the mixed green salad. Both were fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The restaurant specializes in interesting wines and offers a retail area where patrons can purchase wines by the bottle to take home. We have eaten at the Park Cafe several times and highly recommend it.
Pros: Food, wine, ambiance, service, welcome
