It worked for what I needed at the moment 7/19/2011

I liked Park 44. Having just moved to St Louis and it being within walking distance of where I worked was convenient, and I felt a good place to start as I got to know the city. I found the staff to be nice and polite, and I appreciated the monthly newsletter/social event they had. I thought it was a cool way to engage the tenants. I did not have many maintence issues so I cant really speak to the speed and efficiency of the staff in that respect. I will say though that if you are considering the loft style apts you should note that the bathroom is set RIGHT above the kitchen so if ever your toilet decides not to cooperate guess where all that stuff is going?!?! (but i'm not bitter). The walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors, it didnt drive me crazy, but for some ppl that just wont work so just know to expect that. Lets see the free internet is no scam. It worked well for me and was one less bill to worry about and the same for heat and A/C. The washer/dryers were on every floor ok yeah Ill give them that, but to me they were WAY too much for the size load you could fit and that did drive me crazy. I should also note that they did up the price on at least the dryer while I was there as well and I wasnt even there a whole year so.... Parking does cost, but I think it more

an HONEST opinion: okay but would not recommend 5/3/2011

This place is an OKAY place to live. But I would not recommend living here. I thought this place was THE place for me and I chose this place over another apartment building, but I wonder to myself if it was the right choice. The pros of living here: -The maintenance guy is super friendly and nice. He is always willing to fix things and always has a smile on his face. Definitely a keeper. When you put in a work order form, he swings by and fixes things. -Free sewer, trash, heat, air conditioning, internet -More spacious and homier than other apartments. The kitchen is an open kitchen, which makes the apartment appear more modern. The cons that my roommate and i encountered: -The manager of this place is very manipulative and is not willing to negotiate. She takes into consideration things that would benefit only her interest. It is understandable as apartment managing is a business, but it was so frustrating having to deal with the manager. Our move-in date was not even close to what my roommate and I wanted, which complicated our move-out date too. I basically paid 4 months of rent to live at an empty apartment out of my year lease. What a waste of money. -It's great not having to pay for the internet here, but sometimes the internet is so slow depending on what time of day it is. Other times, my internet doesn't work. But other times, it works perfectly. Internet here can be frustrating. -The hugest problem that my roommate and I encountered was noise. The walls here are almost paper thin. I hear my neighbors snoring sometimes or I hear their tv on. Even between my roommate's room and my own, I hear her sound traveling through the vents, which forced both of us to wear earphones. Sound travels too well in this apartment, and there needs to be something done about it. I wake up every morning to birds chirping at 3am and garbage trucks pounding at 6am. -Our refrigerator (not talking about the freezer part of the refrigerator) freezes everything. My roommate and I had to throw away some food because it froze some of the foods and made it go bad such as our vegetables. -the laundry site is so far from my apartment, it is such a hassle to do my laundry here. I am so excited that the apartment I will be living at has an in-unit laundry. also, they have jacked the prices up to do laundry here. It is $1.50 to wash and $1.25 to dry. I think they were planning on raising the dryer price to $1.50 eventually, making it $3.00 for one load. One load at this place does not even fit a lot of laundry. The apartment that my roommate and I are looking at next year are much more flexible, approachable, and negotiable. I hope this review helps you in your decision of whether you should live here or not. I personally do not recommend it, as my encounters with the manager was always so aggravating and for all the perks this place provides, it is so money-hungry! more
