This theater is a beautiful old-style movie theater with a huge big screen in the main theater. The main theater also has huge cathedral ceilings and even still has the stage where the pre-show used to be played. My only concern with coming here at night is that the neighborhood is not the best and there have been some scary incidents at the theater. Of course it's rare and all, but I'd rather see a matinee than an evening show, but maybe that is just me. Having worked for the city of Kankakee, I've seen too much to feel comfortable in the city in the dark. more

This is a great older theater. It houses one huge screen theater than can easily hold 500 people, but never really does fill up that much. It also has kept the old theater look to it, so I think it is great to see a scary movie there because the theater almost has a spooky, older vibe to it. Prices are cheap, concessions… well are concession prices. However, if you aren’t lucky enough to have your movie showing in the big screen I don’t think it’s worth the journey here because the smaller screens are worse than other theaters. more

Classic Look, Great Atmosphere 2/15/2006

The Paramount theatre is my favorite movie theatre to go in Kankakee. They have one large theatre, seating over 600 and 4 smaller theatres seating 100-200. The large theatre has kept it past intact with intricate ceiling artwork. The sound system is up-to-date as well as new, even more comfortable seating. Usually, new movies start out in the bigger theatre, which is where you want to see them anyway. Of course, my only complaint (not only with this theatre) is the high-priced food. But we all know it's not company or theatre specific so don't let that deter you from enjoying this theatre's atmosphere for your next movie. more
