Love It! After reading so many mediocre reviews I felt compelled to add my positive comments. Pane e Vino has become my husband and my favorite restaurant over the past fews years as well as our adult daughter and husband and their friends. For us it is conveniently located, very pleasant and comfortable inside as well as a very friendly and attentive wait staff. The owner or manager, I'm not sure which she is, is ALWAYS very gracious coming around, saying hello, and asking how our dinner is. I have a favorite on the menu, a smoked mozarella with eggplant and fusilli that I absolutely love and cannot get anywhere else. They also have jazz night and martini night as well as cooking classes and wine tasting. In any dining experience there is always the chance of some sort of negative experience brought on by a particularly busy night or other diners, but do not let those reviews dissuade you from trying this excellent restaurant. Pros: Ambiance, excellent food, good prices more

Great Service 6/20/2007

I am writing in response to the negative comment "Avoid at all costs". I was a witness to the incident on the night of July 11, and I believe that it was a terrible misunderstanding. I think that Pane E Vino is a wonderful Italian restaurant full of attentive, friendly wait staff. I find it hard to believe that someone was out to "Deliberately" ruin another guests night. I believe that both parties were enjoying there night with fine wine, food, and friends. If such an incident "Deliberately" happened I would hope that it could be handled in a more rational manner than slandering a very fine restaurant. more

Avoid at all costs! 6/10/2007

The horrible management at Pane e Vino turns what could be a quaint, Italian dining restaurant into a regrettable experience. My finance and I regularly seek out Italian restaurants and could fairly compare the pros and cons of many casual-dining to fine-dining Italian restaurants, so it's fair to say we have an expertise in this area. We were ignored by a woman speaking on the phone when we first walked in, then seated at a table on a patio on the "quiet" side which turned out to be anything but quiet. We then asked to be moved inside away from the noise (caused by the same woman that ignored us in the beginning), then the noise deliberately followed us inside!! We asked the woman to please quiet down, then she boldly informed that she is the owner and would not quiet down in her own restaurant. Not to mention the menu lacked variety, our server would disappear for 15 minute intervals, and the soup was average at best. This was our worst experience yet and we will not be returning! Pros: Beautiful Area, ample "4 hour" parking Cons: Rude management, horrible service, mediocre food more

Well I have to say that I was extremly dissapointed with the review left by user "the new topchef" as a one of the Pane e Vino managers & owers, I first have to say that your comment was very negative & slandarous, where do you get off insinuating that members from my mangement staff and or the owners which includes myself, would have even the slightest bit of extra time to leave comments about the restaurant? A concept that I believe in faithfully & created from the ground up beginning in 1987, with my partner Claudio. This restaurant has brought much success to my life, heartache, stress & time away from my family. This being my fourth restaurant bearing the same name as the others, I take every comment seriously & to the heart. I was alerted about your comment from a loyal patron from my restaurant. I don't think you have any idea how the smallest negative comment can or has detered future business from coming into my restaurant. I would have much preferred and accepted if you had an issue with my management staff, service, our food etc. to send a letter personally to the restaurant for my attention, (the owner) and your negative experience would have immediately been rectified. Again for you or anyone else reading this comment if there are any issues even on the smallest scale, please alert someone immediately, if that doesn't give you the satisfaction you need please email us @ info@panevino biz or write to us: 240 South Brea Blvd, Suite 101, Brea, Ca 92821. Thank you, all I ask is fairness. BSPVBREA Pros: Authenticity, Hospitality, Ambience, Apart of Popular Downtown Brea Promenade Cons: Our parking Lot is being renovated. (Valet & Self-Parking is Avaliable) Parking stucture also avaliable on Birch St. more

unbelievable pasta & pizza 3/1/2007

Pane e vino has a great ambience and the service was excellent. The food is by far the best in Orange county in regards to Itlian food. The spaghetti in clams was unbelievable which was in a white wine sauce topped with a pizza crust. Also, we dined in the patio which is very romantic and cozy. I would recommend to anyone who loves real Italian food. Pros: Great ambience Cons: Park in the back or in valet more

Needs to improve!!!! 1/24/2007

Ok, let me explain to you, five of the seven reviews from before have been written by the owner and the management. I went with some friends to this "restaurant". I have to say the decoration and the pla ce is very nice but that's it. The food was only "so so", hopefully they have improved it since last year. The worst was the management, very rude and unprofessional. Pros: decoration Cons: management more

Well the last two reviews must have come from two of the most uneducated people that know nothing about food, authenticity, ambience, etc, etc, etc...but especially running a successful business!!! I to hve been a loyal customer to all four of the Pane e Vino Locations since the 80's, the knowledge behind these establishments in both food, wine & the Italian culture is beyond words....truthfully yes the Pane e Vino-Brea location is a "bit," different but look at what you are comparing The Oc to Beverly Hills....the menu at the Brea location was exactly the same to BH for three of the 5years...but overtime you study and you ask your clientele what they are used to and Fusilli Melanzane e Scarmoza is definately no that!!!! Orange County is surrounded by Bucca di Beppo and the Olive Garden, so to appeal your demographic what do you do you adapt!!!! Business Class 101!!!So I would say the next time you are making such a drastic judgement on a restaurant, be fair, be clear and be honest!!!! And as a side note, Fettucini Alfredo is not or has never been on the Pane e Vino menu!!!!! Its Quattro Formaggi....in Italian...not spelled wrong....so for those that enjoy rustic northern Italian food, give Pane e Vino a try and see for yourself why they have been in business since 1987!!!!! Not counting the IL Fornaio's, Prego's & Chianti Restaurants that the owner created!!!!! Ciao Pros: service, wine list, food, ambience Cons: parking can be an issue, just valet more

I haven't eaten at the L.A. Pane e Vino, but I thought the food here was pretty mediocre. Everything tasted only a little better than out of a frozen dinner. Pros: Downtown Brea more

A little different 6/1/2006

We are regular patrons of the LA PEV and found this one to be a bit "different". The LA one is extremely authentic while the OC one had fertucine alfredo on the menu (and it was also mispelled). They do have a lot of the regular favorites from LA but from what they told us, catered to OC tastes. Overall a great buy though. Pros: Location, Parking, Discount Coupon Cons: Different Menue more

Authentic Italian Food In Brea 2/16/2005

Brea in the OC. I read the review in the Orange Coast Magazine and in the Zagat Survey done on the Top Italian Resataurants. I have been a patron at the LA PV since the 90's, where I meet the creator\Chef owner Claudio, I'm happy its now in the OC. This restaurant constantly takes my breath away how superb the food, wine, service and ambiance begins and ends with each and every visit. In Brea you will feel like you just visited Italy and gained a new set of friends. The attractive staff, the immence ambiance, the music selection that softly plays in the background, service and the food goes without saying. I highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys good-eats, excellent service and beautiful ambiance. Reservations are a must I hear on the weekends or risk having to wait at leat 2hours for a table. Cin Cin (cheers). Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: None more

Food-Service-Ambiance, this place has got them all! It really feels like you're in Italy when you're there. The decor is very nice, the service is friendly and knowleadgeable and the food is terrific! My friends were quite impressed. On the down side, parking can take some time (it took us 15 min to find a spot), but definitely worth it. Highly recommended! more

Italy has come to the O.C. 2/15/2005

This is by far the best food I have tasted in Orange County. I felt as if I were back home in Italy where I grew up, enjoying the food my family once cooked. Beyond the food, the service was outstanding. Everyone seemed to work together and was very attentive to my needs. I recommend this restuarant to anyone that wants to taste food like that of Italy. Finally, Italy has come to the O.C. Pros: spectacular food, outstanding service, incredible ambience Cons: none more

The food could have been better. I've eaten there twice and the food was on the bland side, but maybe they've improved. The great thing about Pane e Vino is that it's located in downtown Brea which is close to a Tower Records as well as a multiplex. Pros: Location more
