I am in my 40's and generally in good health. I recently have a stomach problem and want to see a physician. Called in and the lady answering the phone became impatient about my questions on the selection of doctor among all the listed. There appears to be a current system that prevents patients from switching doctors in the PAMF internal medicine department. Most of the doctors are ""closed"" to new patients, or only accept relatives of existing patients. I just wanted to try a different doctor, and the appointment lady said I would lose my ""position"" with the existing doctor. It is a strange system that may have been set up for business reasons.
I chose PAMF for its convenience of the many choices. And I don't find it convenient to find a physician in Fremont, probably because I seldom see a doctor. At least PAMF could be a bit more flexible, as letting me see a different doctor once every 2 years will not overload the other physician suddenly.
Pros: A lot of doctors are on the list.
Cons: Very few of them are available.
