My kitties have always gotten the very best of care from Dr. Claytor and Dr. Brown. I?ve been repeatedly impressed with their medical expertise and experience. They are as patient with me as they are my cats, answering all my questions, (and not laughing too hard at my hyper-cat-mom vigilance.) more

The staff is non-personable and unfriendly. The vet did not introduce herself or demonstrate any emotion. Her bed side manner was inadequate at best. more

I have been going to Oxmoor Animal Clinic for about 12 years. Dr. Claytor and her team have always treated us, and our beloved pets with love and care. I never worry when I have to go out of town and board my babies there -they have always wagged their tails uncontrollably upon walking toward the front door there. They always remember who I am and, more importantly, who my pet is. We went through a painful loss with our elderly beagle just last week, and Dr. Claytor made our very difficult situation more bearable. We, and our sweet dog, were treated with such compassion. We live about 20 miles away, but wouldn't want to trust anyone else with our sweet furry friends. more

OAC is, in short, a couple of doctors whose knowledge is limited to how to give shots and inadequate check-ups and a few more receptionists who can't answer basic pet FAQs. When I took my first cat here the first two times, I was enthused at how accommodating Dr. Claytor was to my needs and cat's needs. The next two times I visited, I saw the true side of Oxmoor Animal Clinic: Visit 1) A different vet took care of my new Persian kitty and, although she took more time than Dr. Claytor, made my cat extremely uncomfortable and to my later knowledge, did not even do a complete checkup. My cat had an ""adhesion to his cataract"" and she and Dr. Clayor declared he needed surgery immediately and sent me to an ophthalmology clinic 30-40 minutes away that they swore up and down was the nearest one. I did a quick search on Google and found another clinic (that sounded far more experienced after a few phone calls) 5-10 minutes away. Beware of their behind the scenes contracts (with specialized vets, food brands, etc.) I later found out that my 4-lb kitty was too light to even be put under for surgery. As my ex-vet once stated, ""we do not send anyone off without exhausting every resource available at our location."" 2) I went back to check on my cat's eye and Dr. Claytor THEN fully explained what was going on with the eye. She failed to do this the first visit and after tacking on an antibiotic cream for his eye, she explained to me the cream would ""maybe"" prevent the adhesion from getting worst but wouldn't do anything that tear drops, that I had ben using, wouldn't be able to do. Way to give away that you are just trying to make money. I recently found out that I, and my two roommates, have ringworms. I called the vet to see if they checked for the ringworms and they said no because it wasn't common. Neither is Feline Leukemia, but a check-up for that is mandated in visits. WHY WOULD YOU NOT CHECK FOR RINGWORMS DURING A CAT VISIT? The receptionists are also very uneducated in simple things such as whether skin-to-skin contact could transmit ringworms and how to rid of them. more

I took my dog in because his energy level was lower than his normal peppy self and he wouldn't jump up on furniture or up in the car anymore. The vet examined him and said he had a sore spot in his back and that was why, he must have injured himself running or jumping? Well he became more lethargic and had what looked like head tremors, he stopped greeting me at the door and his stomach area was getting bigger. I looked into his symptoms and it lead me to Cushings Disease. I decided to take him to another vet and get him tested because Oxmoor Clinic kept persisting it was due to his back. It turned out that he did have cushings and it had progressed so far that 6 months later I had to put him down (after treatments of medication). The disease had just progressed too far to save him. I will NEVER take my dogs back there and would NOT recommend this vet to anyone! more

This outfit is clearly not capable of handling the busy holiday season. The simplest requests seem to befuddle their incompetent staff entirely. It took at least 40 minutes to check my pet in. It took another 40 to check her out, and this was with only 2 other people in the office. I don't have that kind of time to waste. I have gotten the message, and I'll be sure to board my pet at a more professional establishment. Cons: Unprofessional staff more

We have a fearful dog that many vets have treated as if he was hostile or aggressive. Dr. Claytor and her amazing staff have FINALLY treated Chaplin like the sweet, loving dog he is. I've never been so impressed with a vet, and we've seen many in Chaplin's 4 years of life. They're always understanding and willing to help, have saved us time, money, and heartache in raising our dog. We're so grateful for them. We also board Chaplin there each time we leave town, and we're always sure he's in wonderful assured hands. more

We have been going to Oxmoor Animal Clinic for 13 years now and have loved every aspect of this clinic. Dr. Claytor has always been understanding and helpful. She has always given us alternative methods for caring for our pets which always helped us financially. Through this, I learned so much in how to care for our pets through every aspect of their lives. I drive at least 30 minutes to go to Oxmoor, because I cannot even think of taking my animals anywhere else. Pros: conservative, compassionale care, reasonable rates Cons: no cons more

Dr. Claytor and the staff at Oxmoor Animal Clinic have always provided superior care, attention, support, and love to every animal I have brought to them. Over the years they have cared for 9 of my pets. Dr. Claytor is extremely knowledgeable about alternative treatments when other traditional treatments have failed and is always receptive to new ""ideas"" that are brought to her attention. I can't imagine taking my pets to any other vet. Pros: Extremely knowledgeable and experienced vet who always makes the patient and patient's caregivers equally comfortable! Dr. Mary Claytor and her staff at Oxmoor Clinic is the best. Over the years and cicurmstances we have used other vets and could not wait to move back so we could continue going to Oxmoor. We chose to drive back into Alabama for her treatment of some of our dogs. Dr. Claytor and her staff have successfully treated a myriad of problems for us over the years and on top that are very friendly when we go in or I call for info.
