Overlook At Lakemont Apartments

The apartments look great, but I could hear our neighbor snoring every night. Every conversation, dog barking, couples fighting, and person snoring can be heard through the walls. The neighbors are all loud, and the management doesn?t care to fix anything. Our hot water heater went out 4 times in one week, because instead of figuring out the problem they kept throwing spare parts at it until something ?took.? In addition to this, the already high rent has a 15% price spike every year.\r The cherry on top? We moved out July 31st and they reported us to a debt collection agency (August 13th): after 14 days!!! We?ve never missed rent, or paid late, or given then any reason to report us. Normally, debt collectors report you immediately to your credit bureau and it goes onto your rental history. They may rent you a unit with a washer full of mold that you will have to cure with lemon juice yourself, even after complaining. They will definitely not make sure your appliances work well or are energy efficient, especially the heaters which cost a fortune in the winter because of the horribly insulated units. There are no sidewalks and people drive like crazy so going anywhere on foot is a hazard. They will not be available at the office, close early, or not have anyone to help you, all the time without any good reason. They will not hire contractors that will do good work, so your unit will be full of aesthetic problems. They will not cleanup trash left by other tenants that moved out in the trees, for months. They will not deal with the ice or snow problems in a responsible way, even if it prevents you from leaving your home for weeks and even if they post "policies" that say they will. They will say they will shovel your garage out after the parking lot scraping pushes 3 feet of snow up in front of it, but won't (and then you may have to spend two hours using an ice cooler to do it yourself). They will not put up any indication that a hill is covered in ice and cannot be navigated well, even though you can't see it around a blind corner. In fact, they will stand at the top of the hill and not even motion for you to stop as you drive towards an accident that you can't see. They will definitely not do anything about the thousands of dollars of damage done to your car after another tenant comes down the hill and smashes into it, even if they could have prevented it form happening. When the heater is malfunctioning in you infant sons room causing the wall to become extremely hot, the will come and look at it and tell you nothing is wrong and that it's normal. They might eventually come fix it after you complain several times and the wall starts to turn black because of the faulty thermostat. Pros: Has Nice View Cons: Total Nightmare more

The Overlook at Lakemont is a Great place to live! My boyfriend and I moved into there November of 2008, and already extended our lease with our great deal we have. It is a beautiful place in an amazing area. The landscaping is kept up every week and the management is nice. I would recommend this place to anyone who is searching for a relaxing place to live. It feels like home. The newly renovated fitness center and two pools are a plus too! ***** 5 Stars! more

I read the reviews before however I thought to myself, it can't be that bad. Well, it is. \r The staff do not know what they are doing most of the time. They are rude and very unprofessional. You will have to remind them 10+ times otherwise it will never be done. We had a problem in our master bathroom, leaking from above. We told them as soon as we saw the problem. After weeks and weeks of calling and nothing done. One day I was in the shower and the ceiling started to fall on me. Bits of paint and whatever. That caught their attention, but it still took them a few weeks to finally see what the problem was. We asked to move out, as we were so tired of people coming in and out as they pleased to try to fix the problem. We were not offered any help during the moving process what so ever. The walls are so thin that you can literally hear your neighbors most personal moments. By that I mean visits to the bathroom, bedroom moments, conversations, snoring. I've lived at Overlook for several years and the management has changed hands several times. All versions have been largely disorganized - not notifying promptly of deliveries, failing to return calls, losing requests for maintenance, losing payments. The condition of the property and grounds, despite attempts at improvements, seems to be declining. Vandalism has been an issue, with damages to exercise and other common equipment a common event, most likely due to the number of teenagers that are left by their partents to roam the complex to all hours of the night. Forget about getting home when it snows. You'll probably not be able to get your vehicle up the hills since they do not make any attempt to clear snow. With 5 snows and numerous power outages last year, this is a concern for those with limited mobility. As if that is not enough to deter, walls/floors are paper thin so noise pollution is a constant annoyance for anyone that appreciates peace and quiet. You had better p more

I have just moved into this apartment complex 2 weeks ago and have not been at all impressed. In the two weeks that I have been here the roof leaked and the kitchen sink wouldn't drain and the dishwasher has broken. The staff here at Overlook at Lakemont isn't at all concerned about fixing the problems. The maintenance staff stopped by when the roof leaked but didn't fix it for over 24 hours-I had to move my computer for several days and put a bucket in its place. They also waited over a day to come by and fix the kitchen sink, but by that time I had gotten tired of stagnant water in my kitchen and fixed it myself. They haven't yet fixed my dishwasher though they have a new one on-site and ready to be put in after several days of waiting but they aren't going to get around to it for a few more days because they say their overloaded with leaking roofs. When I moved there 7 years ago, it was an impressive place to live. It sits on the top of Cougar Mountain and is surrounded by forest, views of the mountains and lake. In recent years they went through several management companies, each trying to improve the property, but not completing any of the work. Some of the buildings have new patios or paint others don't. They have a beautiful pool area by the work-out area, but the place looks run down and out of touch with what needs to be addressed. Overpriced and not worth the lack of quality management. more
