Please research in depth before sending your child. 10/25/2014

I cannot be more fearful of any child that is in the care of Overland Hills. We brought our 4 year old Autistic son (who is physically typical) to this daycare to watch him for a few hours in the morning. Within three days, there were three separate incidents. Incident #1: Three staff members performed the Heimlich on my son (without calling 911) for a choking incident involving a marble. Incident #2: An attempt to get out of the outside play area into the parking lot. Incident #3: My son climbed up on a window ledge and wrapped cords around his neck nearly falling. Frankly speaking, my son was not watched. His autism affects his verbal abilities. However, he IS a four year old that required constant supervision and monitoring just like any other child. And who has CORDS on their window coverings anymore? We selected this organization because of the advertised "Wendy" who is listed as an OT and Autism specialist. If Wendy is employed - she certainly never interacted with us or our son. Nor did she coach anyone on handling him. I pray that you research this organization in depth before you place your child there. more

Excellent Childcare 3/17/2009

I was very suprised at the negative review I just read of Overland Hills Childcare. Both of my children attended Overland Hills Childcare and Preschool from 6 months to early elementary age. They were very well cared for and I never had any qualms about leaving them in their care. In fact, my kids would often beg to go to the Childcare-they loved their teachers and made good friends. The food was always nutritious and well-balanced among the food groups. In fact, the menus were published weekly so I could send lunches if my child didn't care for what was being served that day. I often observed the staff wiping down the tables and toys with disinfectant. Neither of my children are model children (are there any who really are??) but the teachers at Overland Hills truly cared about them and gave age appropriate correction when needed. We received daily communication from the staff on what our children ate that day and the activities they did. I would highly recommend Overland Hills Childcare and Preschool to anyone! more

PLEASE don't send your child here!! 8/21/2007

I made the mistake of sending my child to Overland Hill's Childcare. I assumed since they were associated (and located in) a church that they would have my child's best interest at heart. My son was a year old & it was the first time I had left him at a daycare so I didn't know what was normal. I now know that they should have made sure he was signed in and out each day, never should of fed the toddlers (age one) and five year olds the same thing (one day it was chilli!!), and a few other things. The children never seemed to be doing any activities and one day my son was even sent home with the wrong paci in his mouth. He had sensitive skin so I made the point of writing his name on every one of his diapers and sometimes he still came home in a diaper that wasn't his. They frequently told me that he bit other children, which I couldn't figure out until someone from the daycare let me in on a secret. It was known knowledge that the head teacher didn't "like" my child for some reason and that he had been left in a high chair for hours at a time sometimes!!!!! Of course he'd be upset when he was let down! The breaking point came for me one day when he had been there over 5 hours and when I picked him up he was still in the high chair and had poop caked onto his butt because his diaper had never been changed (it was an unwritten one that I had put on him that morning!) When I collected his things I ran into his head teacher who told me that he was just plain "mean" and that's why he was biting other kids - which first off wasn't christian at all and secondly if she knew anything about children she would know that biting is a common way of communicating frustration in children that are only 1! I later ran into someone who worked there and she said she had to quit because she couldn't even set her child (who went with her) to eat at the tables because things weren't ever santized. I was heartbroken that I didn't realize how bad things are & that I let him stay in there a few months. So please please please don't make the same mistake that I did!! more
