I am sorry to say I thought I was getting good service from Otto Kim until I took it in for about the 5th time for a check on my car leaking and a complaint twice of over heating. I was not happy that about the 6th time when they said my head gasket was leaking and repairs would cost $1500 - $2000. For repairs. I feel this should have been found before the problem got to this point. I ended up selling my car because I couldn't keep putting money into it. I was very disappointed at the outcome and will never take my new vehicle there for repairs. more

Best in Town 1/3/2012

I have been going to Otto Kihm for a number of years now. I know I can drop off my car and it will be fixed and the bill will be honest. I take my cars there for everything from oil changes to major engine work. It's nice to have a place you can trust. more

Great Work, Great People 3/2/2010

Wonderful world and honest. Did not do some work I thought need to be done because it wasn't needed. They could have just gone ahead and presented me with a much higher bill. Their cost are very resonable. more

Otto Kihm is honest, helpful and professionals 6/6/2009

I had my car overheat and needed someone to look at it as it was my only transportation. I called Firestone on West Main, since they were close by to take a look at it. Well, they looked at it and informed me that I needed the top half of the engine repaired and they could begin the work immediately- about $1400.00. I decided against it, which of course they disagreed because it could cause further damage if driven. I paid the 30.00 check out fee and had the car towed to Otto Kihm. The next day I received a call and was told the therostat was bad. They replaced it, changed the antifreeze and oil and I was out the door for less than $100.00. Thanks Otto Kihm for your honesty- Shame on you Firestone. more

Otto Kihm saved me BIG dollars!! I will be back! 4/16/2009

I asked Otto Kihm to repair the grinding noise coming from my front end on my 4 wheel drive used Jeep. While they were examining it they suggested that they hold off on the front end repair till they find out what the unusual noise was coming from the engine itself ---I never noticed it.They said "Don't put money in the front end if the engine is going to fail". Whew,They stopped me from spending money I didn't need to.Thanks....I will be back!! more

I could have died, because they can't put on a nut right 4/2/2009

I had some positive experiences with Otto Kihm in the past, but the last time I went in for a simple tire rotation and balance two things went wrong. They failed to properly torque my lug nuts, so, while driving down the expressway I started to experience a vibration. I pulled off the road that 4 of my 5 lug nuts could be turned by hand on one my wheels, and one the nuts was sheared off. I then took my car to another garage where they discovered that on another wheel they had hammered on one my tire wheel studs and had damaged the abs sensor on my brake. I'm lucky that one of my wheel did not come off causing a horrific accident and my rear brake still works. I'm still waiting to hear if they will cover any of the costs of the repairs because of their inability to correct mount a tire on a car. more

More problems than it's worth 6/10/2008

I recently had my car worked on at Otto Kihm. Though I have previously had no problems with them, this time it was different. I took my car in to get my brakes worked on and a window fixed. When I got the car back, some $800 later, my brakes were in exactly the same condition, there was a loud banging noise in my door from the window repair, and the window leaked. After dropping it off a second time, they seemed to have made the appropriate repairs. However, I had two new problems pop up. 1. the car has trouble starting and 2. the exhaust is making noise. I would assume neither had anything to with the first repairs. However, I had my exhaust completely replaced by Otto Kihm within the last 8 months. Is this normal to replace an exhaust more than once in a year? I would advise to NOT take your vehicle to Otto Kihm. I just took my car into another shop because the brakes were not fixed, and it turns out they forgot to tighten some bolts down. I took the car in there TWICE, more

air conditioning repair 1/22/2008

Last June, just before a trip to South Carolina, my car's air conditioning started failing. Pep Boys said they ran a dye test ? I paid for a dye test ? and two components needed replacing: total cost over $500. The local Saturn dealer said without seeing the car he couldn't be sure, but if Pep Boys were right, it would cost around $360 to fix. My boss asked why I was wasting time when we all know the most efficient and honest garage in the region ? Ottot Kihm. The Kihm technicians could not find any evidence that a dye test had been done. Their dye test revealed a small leak at a valve stem. Total diagnosis and repair: $90. They urged me to come back after driving for a week to make sure that was the only problem. No need. They nailed it the first time. Otto Kihm really is the most honest, efficient service garage out there. more

Needed New Tires 12/20/2007

My recent visit to Otto Kihm was very different than what I normally experience with most other auto service center. I had taken my car to Midas previously to get an oil change and get an inspection done on my car. The mechanics at Midas told me that my tires were in very bad condition and that I needed to get new tires as soon as possible. They suggested I come back so they can give me a good deal. So the following day I went to work and asked one of my co-workers to refer me to a place where I can get cheap tires. He then told me Otto Kihm would be my best bet and that they are very honest people. The next day I went there to get my new tires. As I was sitting waiting for them to finish the mechanic came to me with a funny look on his face sort of like laughing at me and said, Your tires are in good condition and they will last you for another year or so and was puzzled as to why they told me I needed new tires. I was very happy that they were honest with me and didnt try to rip me o more
