Organic Orbit

This is a quiet & intimate dining experience. I met some friends to give it a try and was pleased with the outcome. The manager was Phil and he came by the table multiple times to ensure we were happy with EVERY plate we had ordered. Apparently business is slow, but this was a plus for us as the setting was not congested or noisy. I had to try the 'new school' mac & cheese with the beet ravioli for my entree. Both were surprisingly flavorful and presented like a fancy NYC establishment. Two thumbs up and good luck (looks like an expensive operation to run). I went to Oganic Orbit for lunch. A bit pricey, but totally worth it. The pizza was great! They are in Uptown Broadway, with apartment/condos upstairs and Amante Coffee, Chicago Hair, and First Bank in the shopping center with them. Very Cool. I rarely write reviews but figure since I read them, I might as well contribute to the process. This was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. We went there with friends after reading the so-so review in the Daily Camera - so - so meaning she only gave 3 stars for the food which was off the charts delicious and inventive. The Chef has done an amazing job with flavors and creative combinations and whoever trained the waitstaff is a perfectionist. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant. Touted as "Boulder's Best New Restaurant", Organic Orbit will not disappoint. Recently, with family visiting, I had the opportunity to check out a majority of Boulder's fine dining establishments. After attending The Kitchen, Mateo, Frasca, and Organic Orbit, the group consensus placed the Orbit at the top of the list. Having worked in the industry for nearly 15 years, it takes quite a bit to impress me. That being said, the food is the best the western u.s. has to offer. I know it is always tough for a new restaurant to get going, so I am usually willing to give them a two or three chances to develop. I will not be doing that for Organic Orbit. The slow and rude service was appalling. Our waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu or wine list. Some friends went on the same weekend and had a similar experience. The food was beautifully presented, but the everything was bland. I am all for paying top dollar for an exceptional restaurant experience (especially at an establishment touting organics and local), but Organic Orbit was way overpriced and a total disappointment. We will be spending our time and money at other organic restaurants like The Kitchen and Sunflower. Perhaps they just need some more time to figure thing out?
