Open Hearth

We had an expired deal chicken vouncher so I asked my husband to go to the Open Hearth to use it for face value. Wow, wish I has just thown it away. Our waitress was telling us the specials and I asked how much were the scallops appetizers, she replied ""$9.00"" my husband told her no cucumbers on his salad, and she replied ""there's only one"" we told her he was allergic to cucumbers, she brought his salad with one cucumber, we had to ask for beverage refills, she asked how our meal was before I had tasted my fried oysters and never came back or she would have noticed the oysters were still on the plate, we had to interrupt her from a social conversation to obtained our bill By the way, she did not know we had a voucher.. As we sat there we noticed how other waiters and waitresses were so attentive We got our bill the scallop appetizer was $12.00 not $9.00, the gratuity was pre added in @ 18% I asked her about the scallops telling her she said $9.00 and she said no they are $12.00, then asked about the gratuity and she said it is always included on Deal Chicken vouchers, so as we were leaving I told the owner about the issues and he did nothing. Never Again more

My wife was out of town last night, so I ate at The Hearth for the first time to test the ""Night Out worthiness"". I very much enjoyed the experience. The decor, music, temperature, staff, and cleanliness were excellent. Two of the dinner items were not perfect, but close enough to make the meal worth the price. Plus, a larger party was in an offset room that was about ten feet from where I ate, yet I never noticed any sound coming from there. I can't believe that I have been in this area for so long without finding it. My wife will love it! more

The Open Hearth is one of those special places where great food meets incredible atmosphere! My wife and I have been eating there for years and it continues to be our special place. The Open Hearth is an icon in the Upstate. When I read the previous post below by "Brayboy," I can only assume that this is an inexperienced diner, with an unsophisticated palette, who is holding a personal grudge. We were hoping for a good steakhouse dinner which cant happen in this nasty place. The waitress who first greeted us couldn't speak english though she was full blooded southern American as I am. She couldn't tell me the cut of beef in the hamburger steak other than to say Angus. I ordered a 14 oz New York Strip medium rare. When served it was not med rare, ie. warm red center . Sent it back only to get another just the same. The problem was that the steaks are so thin they can't brown the outside while keeping the inside red as required for medium rare. I did without eating and left. This place still lives in the 50's and 60's yet charges 21st century prices for substandard food. The wait staff are obnoxious and clueless. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Food was very bland. Wait staff decided to stick the water pitcher in my face every time I was about to eat my food. Very expensive for the low quality flavorless food. Restaurant smelled very musty. more

I was very impressed when I entered the Open Hearth. I would Recomend the Steak of which they have quite a selection. They are cooked over real charcoal. The Chef, William Brown, has been there over 27 years. Steaks are cooked and seasoned to perfection! The service is also very good. There is an extensive selection of wines.\r The atmosphere is also very nice, with candles, flowers and white tablecloths. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did! more
