Best

Nice cozy place. I go there almost everyday for drinking purposes.

Worst

Our first visit was with another local Heights couple on a beautiful Friday evening. Onion Creek was obviously a popular spot. The parking lot was full as were most of the tables....

Great hangout 7/2/2007

This place reminds me most of Austin. I went to college at UT and sometimes miss the atmosphere that Austin had. This place has steak night on Wednesdays and signs for Austin everywhere. Definately one you need to try at least once. more

One of a kind! 5/10/2007

Definitley one of a kind in Houston. Its more of a pub than a coffee shop to me. Great outdoor beer garden and cruisy / cosy indoor area. Never too loud so can always chill out with friends or whatever on any afternoon /or evening. Food is great and a decent range of drinks as well. No table service, but that is not a bad thing, even though the bar has spurts of being croweded for ordering. Parking is fine, just may need to walk 100ft so no big deal (I ride my bike or walk). Couple of TV's play the games, but realy just for background. Tis not a sports bar and does not want to be. Only downside is clearing of empties and plates of your table can sometimes take a while, so don't be too precious about that. Great Place Pros: atmosphere more

Fun & Laid-Back 4/18/2007

If you're looking for somewhere go where you can wear your flip flops and an old college t-shirt this is it! I love this place!! It's a coffee shop, bar, and resturant all in one. The patio is beautiful, a great place to sip a glass of wine or a cold beer. PLUS they have an old Miss Pac Man game too :-) Pros: Great place to spend a Saturday afternoon Cons: Parking is terrible more

Almost Austin. 11/3/2006

Good place to grab a drink with friends. The menu is small, but everything is good. Great place to make new freinds. more

Houston's Central Perk 4/12/2006

If you've seen ""Friends"" you'll know exactly what being coffee house is suppose to be like. Except, OC has food, wine and beer! The atmosphere is awesome, good crowd and music. This is a great place to hang out if youre just in the mood to relax and unwind with out ne hype. I go here at least once a week, check out their menu specials for crawfish and steaks! Pros: value, atmosphere, location Cons: parking more

Fun, relaxed place to hang 3/26/2006

I really love their outdoor patio. The frozen lemonade is yummy and I a good sandwich, want to try the pizza next. Laidback, relaxed atmosphere. more

Great Hangout 9/27/2005

I only lived in the Heights for 6 months but in that time I discovered Onion Creek and now visit regularly though I am no longer in the neighborhood. I have never had a problem with the service. The bar tenders and busy if not friendly and my food is always delivered hot and on time. You can't beat the place of a lazy Sunday brunch, casual dinner or for just hanging out with friends at happy hour. Pros: Great Food, Great Atmospher Cons: Parking when busy more

All good but the service 6/26/2005

I frequent O.C. atleast weekly. The music and ambience are great. The food is good. The Tuesday night Dj is great, and the specials are good. HOWEVER, I have seriously considered not going back due to the fact that on several occasions some of the bartenders are rude, insulting, and could care less about the customers or their jobs. On several occasions I have had horrible service by 2 of the bar workers. My friends have also had experiences with the same 2. Pros: Music, Ambience, Location Cons: Bartenders, Bartenders, Bartenders more

What's up with people behind the bar? 5/6/2005

Great Food, go for the Grilled Chix Sandwich, Tuna Salad Sandwich or any of their amazing pizzas. The wines by the bottle are a good buy and they carry a fair amount of small brewery beers on tap. The service is a different story, almost every person behind the bar is rude --- wish I could just say just ""not friendly"" but rude definitevely describes them. They are in serious need of a dose of ""don't take yourself so seriously -- smile!."" The guys that bring you the food are nice and so are the people cooking the steaks and taking the steak/boiled shrimp orders. The atmosphere and crowd are great. Probably the coolest place in the heights to kick back and have some great conversations with friends or strangers. more

Best Place to Chill.. 3/23/2005

This is a cool place to chill with friends or even a date.. more

Sit Back and Relax...... 9/21/2004

Very nice place. The food and atmosphere can't be beat. It's like a cafe brazil but with a newer modern/cottage vibe and full bar to it. Its larger - plenty of room with the bar, cozy sofa and outside patio areas. I still can't believe they had Ace Pear on tap. Perfect for happy hour on thursday bec. they usually have some music bit going on. Its in the heights with plenty of parking. The guys behind the bar are extremely friendly. Pros: Scene, Bar, Food more

Almost got it... 8/2/2004

Charming little coffee house with an appealing menu is an exciting addition to the Heights. Disinterested and unattentive staff that loses your order and gets the reorder wrong after a 45 minute wait is unacceptable. Even with food that good! The waitstaff gave me excuses and the manager gave me an apology after I sought him out...It's a great concept, it they can get the service end right! Worth a try...but give them feedback!! Fingers crossed for you! Pros: good food, comfortable setting, nice patio Cons: , music too loud, Disinterested staff more

Heights Hangout 5/24/2004

It's what the Heights has been waiting for - a place you can walk to and then grab a bite outside or relax with a coffee or beer. Love the atmosphere!! Pros: big patio, comfy couches, great beer selection more

.................... 7/14/2003

This is a great place to hang out with friends. The place was way too small though to have the DJ so loud. Its better to sit outside so you can hear each other. It should have been a sign that it was a bit too much when no one was sitting on the couches (the most comfortable spots in the place). Otherwise a womderful spot. If there is a good concert at Fitz you'll be competing for parking. Pros: good wine, comfy Cons: parking, loud DJ more

Heights Hideaway 6/4/2003

Onion Creek is like few (or none) other in Houston, and probably for good reason. This Austin-inspired bar / coffee house is a well-done combination of Starbucks and Gingerman, but without the crowd. The inside is trendy and spacious, with comfy chairs and space for laptops. The outside patio holds plenty of picnic tables to gather with friends over a beer or late night cappucino. Because of its residential setting (it is literally surrounded by homes in the Heights) the bar isn't too noisy. The location must be the only reason this hasn't been discovered; take advantage before it is. Pros: Comfortable, Hidden, Drink Variety more
