I have used Dr. Hicks at Old Town Animal Hospital as my vet for several years. The staff is fantastic and Dr. Hicks has always taken time to answer all my questions. My dogs just love going to the vet now! more

When I moved from Katy to the country several years ago, I was unable to take my 10-year-old toy poodle, Pepe, with me. I had no place to keep him at the new place because of a conflict with another dog and I was really afraid he would get hurt. Dr. Hicks had been Pepe's veterinarian for many years. He saw me agonizing over what to do with Pepe. Dr. Hicks and his wife graciously took in my dog as one of their own. They kept him at the clinic during the day and took him home with them at night and on weekends. Pepe became the clinic mascot. I could tell that the staff at Old Town Animal Hospital really loved him by the way they played with him. He got lots of love and attention from the staff and customers. Staff members even took turns on weekends taking him home with them. I couldn't have asked for better treatment of my dog. About two years later, Dr. Hicks called and told me that Pepe had developed a cancerous rectal tumor. Dr. Hicks said that he did not know how long Pepe had to live. I went to Katy as often as I could to see Pepe. I was heartbroken that he was so sick. A few months later, Dr. Hicks called to say that Pepe was in a lot of pain and needed to be put to sleep. But he said he wanted me to come see him one last time. I went. I will always treasure the time I spent with Pepe that day. I will remember the way he smiled at me that day forever. That is definitely the way I want to remember him. He had been my dog ever since I was a little boy. It is terrible to lose a beloved pet, but Dr. Hicks and his staff are the most compassionate people I have ever met. God bless you Dr. Hicks, Mrs. Hicks, and the entire staff at Old Town Animal Hospital for what you did for Pepe and for me. I really mean this from the bottom of my heart. I will always take my animals to Dr. Hicks and the people at Old Town Animal Hospital. This is true even though I have to drive over 50 miles one way just to get there. There is no doubt in my mind that they really care about both the pets and the pet owners. more

Dr. Hicks has been my pets vet for many years he was great and very cheap prices compared to other vets I have gone to. His techs were very nice as well, I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Hicks and his staff. more

Place was new, clean and my dog was well taken care of for the 8 days she stayed. Best of all, the price included a bath before she came home. This kennel was also the most reasonable (cost) in Katy. I recommend them. more

We had to euthanize Sheba (our family dog) last Friday and I knew it was going to be a trying time for our family especially my wife, Kathy. Sheba was very special to us and I wanted you to know that your staff could not have been better to us and Sheba! They were very comforting and supportive and helped us make a very difficult decision that had to be made. Sheba lived a very long 16 years and I feel that we stretched the last 5 years out of her with your help! My two kids were very young when we got Sheba as a puppy and they grew up with her being their buddy and companion! Everyone, that ever met Sheba made a comment about what a good dog she was. I am pointing out how much we loved and cared for Sheba because with your staff being so professional, caring and loving we were able to give Sheba the dignity and comfort at the end of her life that she greatly deserved! Dr. Hicks, on behalf of our family and Sheba, please accept our sincere thanks for taking such excellent care of Sheba and please pass onto your staff our gratitude for being there last Friday and many times before. My family has taken our pets to Dr. Hicks the entire time Old Town Animal Hospital has been in Katy. We have had medical emergencies in the middle of the night and he has always met us at the clinic - even if it was 3 a.m. We believe our pets have received the best possible veterinary care and think the world of Dr.Hicks. He really cares about the animals. His staff is also top-notch too! We have had plenty of opportunities to watch them care for the animals when they did not know we were looking. They care just as much as Dr. Hicks. Our pets love to go to the vet - if they have to stay overnight, they're not really eager to leave. We rank Dr. Hicks and Old Town Animal Hospital an A+ and highly recommend them. more

I moved to Katy a few years ago and started using Old Town Animal Hospital for my 2 dogs and have been a loyal customer ever since. My first visit was on a Wednesday, when they offer 25% off vaccines. The office was very busy and there was a bit of a wait, but Dr. Hicks still took the time to treat me and my pets with care and respect. Since then, I try and schedule my appointments on days other than Wednesday because I don't mind paying a little more to not have to wait, especially since Old Town Animal Hospital has the lowest prices I have found. I am very happy with the service and care I have received over the years. more

Dr. Hicks has been my pet's vet for many years. My furry, four legged children have been under the care of Dr Hicks from the time they were babies thru the hardest time of having to say good bye to them. They are very lucky to have him as their doctor. Dr Hicks has always been there when we needed him the most. Cannot ask for a more caring and dedicated doctor. Thanks Dr Hicks. more

It was a sad day to have to put your dog down but the doctor and staff were the best and most caring group I have ever experienced. That is from me and my children. They love getting treats for them when they take the dog to the vet. more

I wanted to thank you so much for your kindness treating Baby Girl. She died peacefully at home two days after she last saw you. Please let Doc know how much we appreciate the steroid shot he gave her so she could come home and enjoy her last days (brisket and potatoes for meals and playing in the yard :) ) Also we are very thankful that you let us pay our bill over time. more

I am so sorry to hear other people had a bad experience with this clinic. I take my dogs to Dr Hicks, he has been nothing but helpful, caring and informative. He is a "no frills" type of vet. He will NOT offer you services, treatment, surgery that your dog DOES NOT need. The clinic is clean, well maintained and has a wonderful sitting area! Every time I have had an issue I have called Dr Hicks, he never hesitated to call me back and does not demand the dogs to be seen yet again in the clinic for extra fees etc. The staff has always been so helpful; they listen to your needs and really take their time with you. The care I have gotten for my dogs has been A+ all the way. My dogs are healthy and I know when they sick I can count on Dr Hicks. I highly recommend dr Hicks from old town animal hospital. more

We took a very sick stray cat we had been caring for after-hours for emergency treatment recently. Unfortunately, the cat was close to dying with multiple untreatable diseases and had to be euthanized. Dr. Hicks was compassionate, caring, warm, and professional. He performed some basic tests, but didn't try to sell us unnecessary and exhorbitantly priced tests and treatment. When the time came to explain his diagnosis and our options, he was honest and down to earth. We suspect that he may have undercharged us for the hours of treatment he provided - and with it being in the evening, but we can't say for sure. The man has a HUGE heart. Last week we received a card from his office expressing their sadness for our loss. We highly recommend Old Towne and Dr. Hicks. Katy, TX is lucky to have him! more

Dr Hicks and all his staff are the best vet clinic in town. I love them! they are so caring and most of all are not out to get you for all your money. they genuinely want to help your pet and only do what they know will help. I adopted a stray who after having it for 2wks began to have seizures. Dr Hick saw him several times and was very honest about what could be done but at the same time practical he advised that I could run all these costly test to find out what was causing the seizures but then all I have is a costly diagnosis, so he suggested that we just treated him for the seizures first. He could have said I had to do all those test like Banfield hospital told me do, but he did not want to take my money. He was very patient explaining about seizures in dogs and told me he had a dog that at 2yrs old started having them and he put him on meds and the dog is 12 years old and has had a good life. I took my dog in to him several times and he did not charge me on a couple of occasions for the visits. When I call the staff is so nice and are quick to get back to me. I can't recommend Dr. Hicks and his clinic enough. I tell everyone I can to take their pets there. more

Dr. Hicks is a great veterinarian! We have taken all our pets to him for years. We are extremely pleased with the care and compassion he shows each of them. We would never go anywhere else but to Dr. Hicks and Old Town Animal Hospital. more
