These guys have your basic salad bar, hamburgers, steaks etc. The chocolate cake is AMAZING, though. For $7.95 (I always get it to go), I have fed 5-6 adults on that cake - it's...

I just ate here for the first time a few days ago... I got the filet mignon trio and my friend got the tri tip.\r Both were amazing... and the miners punch drink was delicious and potent. I highly recommend this place, I will be back soon. Next time I will be getting the tri tip. It was the best I have ever tasted. Give this place a try. more

First off, the employees here are terrific and really helped to make my mom and dad's anniversary dinner very enjoyable. This after a very disappointing experience at Bruno's across the street.\r This restaurant is a throw-back to vintage Americana when dinners were huge. If you're looking for good food, excellent service, and a fun environment, then you've found your place.\r We started things off with coconut shrimp and spinach artichoke dip. The spinach artichoke dip, or as the cool people call it ""spin dip"", was freaking awesome. Normally, you can guess what sort of ""spin dip"" you're going to get and it's usually pretty standard, however this was not, the flavor was top notch. On top of the taste, they had no problem providing us with additional chips when we ran out.\r I then chose the Tri-Tip Dinner which was very good. However, my mom and sister had the Bourbon Apple Chicken, which based upon their reviews and my own ""samplings"" and left overs was delicious. Both dishes came with the choice of sides, I loved the garlic mash potatoes and the salad bar. Oh yes, a salad bar, and it was excellent, totally reminded me of the East Coast.\r On to my favorite part of the whole meal, the dessert. My parents had the Red Velvet and the sister and I went with the Cookie sandwich. Both were awesome and HUGE.\r And again, our service was simply awesome and really made the whole place very enjoyable. Thanks to the up and coming nurse who made our night. more

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the Old California Mining Company! I got the Chicken and Mushroom Pasta and it was absolutely fabulous. My sister got the soup and salad bar which gives you unlimited soup and salad. She said it was wonderful. My dad got the Jalapeno Burger and said it was one of the best he's ever had. The food and the fair prices made it an overall lovely expedience. If I lived in the area (I'm here for a family vacation) I would absolutely come here again. more

We ate there for the 1st time today and with their specials the prices were great! The service was great today, not too full and the waitress was great. They have a big humongous menu that should please anyone. I had the salad bar which was stocked nicely and my hubby had a sandwich/fries which he was pleased with. I want to try the steak and also the carrot cake when we go back. We don't live in San Marcos so it isn't real close or we'd go often. The booth was cozy and comfy feeling. The bar had lots of happy people in it. more

Best Fries in Town 5/11/2011

This was my first visit to the Old Mining restaurant. Went here for dinner with co-workers. First impression wasn't that great, as there was nobody at the host stand when we entered. I admit it was late but staff wasn't really enthusiastic. Food however was pretty darn good! The fries here are to die for and the steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. more

Food and services real bad! 8/8/2009

California Mining Co. My wife and I have dinning at your restaurant for five year since we move to N. San Diego. Your restaurant in San Marcos, CA has been our favorite place. It?s were we dine for our anniversary ever year. We have always loved your Smoke Apple Chicken dinner with garlic mash potatoes. On Friday 8/07/2009 we again dine there. But the service and the food were terrible. Our chicken was old, dry, and hard to chew. It was greasy, tasted terrible, and the skin was like leather. I even choke on it trying to get it down! On top of all that our waitresses (Channel) never check on us even one time. The only time I saw her was to give us the bill for $ 35.02. Which I wish I had never paid! I am very disappointed with your restaurant. My wife and I have decided to never go there again. I can?t believe it has gotten so bad. Very Unhappy, Ted & Joann Fuller Pros: Nice insde Cons: Old food, days old, very dry, and Taste terrible more

Amazing Chocolate Cake 3/9/2007

These guys have your basic salad bar, hamburgers, steaks etc. The chocolate cake is AMAZING, though. For $7.95 (I always get it to go), I have fed 5-6 adults on that cake - it's HUGE! The bar is also friendly - definitely a 'locals' joint - not a 'pick-up' joint. Lunches and dinners are pretty good. Huge servings. Pros: Great food - I go there often Cons: I think they should get new carpet more
