Best Movers I ever had. By far! 1/1/2009

I had my share of movers in my life, I kind of move a lot. Some of them were fine, a couple went horribly. But after my last move with Northstar, I will never use another mover. It all started with a very professional and personable sales representative (Bell) that was as nice and knowledgeable as they come, and on the day of the move I was so happy to see the guys show up five minutes before 8:00 (I was told they would be there sometime between 8 to 10 in the morning; I did not expect them to be right on time). The guys (Kevin, Ron and Joe) were great. They hustled, were very nice to work with, they did a great job wrapping my belongings, nothing got broken, and the whole thing came up a lot cheaper that I thought it would be. It sure was less money that what I spent on my last move, moving the same amount of things. I am happy to report that I found a company that not only is great at what they do, but they are also nice, polite, and take great pride in doing their job right. I will recommend northstar to anyone that needs a great mover for a really good price. more

Professional and Friendly 12/29/2008

My move with NorthStar Moving was truly outstanding. I had to move all my furniture to their storage for two weeks until my new home was ready, and I feared this will complicate things, but Ben, my project manager, helped me plan and schedule the two phases of my move with such professionalism and patience. He didn’t loose his cool once - and I did call him with a few last minute changes and requests. I was so happy I was off the hook for finding a storage place on my own… The crew was terrific as well, they carefully protected all my furniture and kept them wrapped while in storage. They delivered everything to may new apartment two weeks later, unwrapped it carefully and asked me where I would like to place each item. They were efficient and friendly, which really helped (I was a nervous wreck by then, and my husband was pretty much in the same shape). It was a smooth transition with not a thing broken in the process. more

Great from the initial quote to the final goodbye 12/22/2008

When I searched around for a professional mover I heard the name ?NorthStar Moving? from a couple of friends-of-friends and saw it online in a few places, so they were on my shortlist of companies to call. From the first phone call the difference in level of service was obvious. The representative who helped me, Wendy, was very patient and kind, she asked all the right questions. She even gave me some advice not only on how to get ready for the day of the move so things will run smoother and quicker, but also on how to check and compare moving companies. The movers arrived on time on the morning on the move (and I was counting on them being late? I wasn?t completely done with my kitchen, but they immediately assigned two movers to help me finish packing while the rest of the crew started working on the furniture). They were patient and courteous throughout the move, and that in itself was a big help since planning and getting through a move was too stressful at points. They truly helped make my move a lot more pleasant, from the initial quote to the final goodbye at the end of the day. My daughter may be in need of a move in the coming months and I am happy I will not need to do any research this time as I have no doubt of which company I will turn to first. more

Never again 9/7/2008

The first time I used them I was delighted. Unfortunately I just used them a second time and will not use them again. They weere average to poor. I have many paintings, boxed with an arrow pointing up.. the movers totally ignored giant arrows and grabbed the boxes any way they choose. overall they were just plain careless. more

Not good for out of state moves. They lose things too. 8/13/2008

Do NOT believe the hype. The people here are extremely personable, but they missed the target delivery, and have said that they won't be able to deliver until 2.5 weeks later.... They forgot about my move! Literally. I called to check up on my stuff about a week before the due date and was assured that it was on its way...but alas, that was not the case. So for everyday it's late, I get a $40 discount. It's really not worth it because you plan to move in and get things done, and they can't even guarantee it will get here when they say it will (I was hoping for them to credit me the entire move). The owner has been kind and understanding, but it's not getting my stuff here any faster. Go with a bigger and more trusted name if you are doing an out of state move. Pros: Personable and professional staff. Cons: They miss delivery dates and actually forget shipments. more

Horrible experience from start to finish 8/6/2008

the crew was slow and very immature.they took long and frequent breaks which I later found out were on my dime. this will be my last move with this company. I was really disappointed. All in all it cost me 2000 dollars to move two bedrooms 5 miles down the road. more

Very Fast, Very Friendly 8/5/2008

I recently relocated to a new apartment and was dreading all of the heavy wood furniture I would have to bring with me. When I called they were very helpful in explaining all the charges to me, and there were absolutely no surprises when I was presented with the bill at the end. I was very pleased with their friendly and fast service. I would highly recommend them!!!\r more

Not Professional & Not Efficient 7/31/2008

I would say that moving and finding a mover can be one of the most stressful things ever to do, especially when you collect valuables. We chose NorthStar because Gotti, the representative, sounded like he knew everything and we could depend on him and his movers to do a decent professional job. But, I have only experienced Chaos, pure chaos! Moving with them made me wish I didn't have anything to own and to move. The only thing for sure out of this review is that it's real and not a phony review. more

Extremely Unhappy 7/28/2008

I have not ever written an online review, this will be the first. I felt that I had to let people know exactly how Northstar handled my cross country move. To begin The movers came and packed my belongings in Chatsworth, CA on June 3 and I was assured that it would take no more than 7-10 days from pick-up for our items to arrive in Atlanta, GA. However, after SEVERAL days and attempts to contact the company trying to get information as to the arrival date we were finally told that our shipment would not be leaving CA until June 14th and would POSSIBLY arrive in Atlanta, Georgia were my husband, 2-year old, dog, and myself were already waiting around June 20. Not only did our things not ARRIVE in Atlanta 7-10 days after pick-up, it arrived 20 days later with items missing, broken, and damaged. The long distance driver picked up several local day laborers to move our items into the house. They broke a leg off of our dining room buffet, the company lost the headboard to our Ethan Allen bed, kitchen boxes of items THEY packed were missing, and they lost the top of a teaching table that I purchased to use within my classroom. The only item I noticed right away was the headboard but the long distance driver was in such a rush to leave, I had no time to go through my items and properly make notes on what else was missing. \r \r I took the time to research Northstar I looked up reviews and I even purchased ""additional insurance"" which is a TOTAL joke (DO NOT USE their online MOVING INSURANCE Company). The two gentlemen I spoke with in the Northstar claims dept. offered little in the ways of helping to rectify the situation and were actually quite flippent in their response. I would not, could not, and absolutely will not recommend Northstar Moving to anyone. I say use them with caution and be aware that once you have paid in full as we did upon pick-up, you have very little recourse to take if things go wrong. My move to Westwood. 7/12/2008

When calling around for my move to Westwood, I came across Northstar. They showed under 'Best moving companies in Los Angeles' when I searched it on Google.\r The phone representative recommended for me to get on City Search and check out their reviews on line.\r I did, chose this company, and was not disappointed.\r They arrived on time, were fast and friendly, and didn't break a thing.\r The whole experience was great. Especially the movers that showed up on the day of the move. This is my first time moving with a professional moving company, and I heard so many stories about moving companies changing the price or whatever. I am glad to say my move went great.\r I will call Northstar for all of my moves in the future, and recommend them to anyone that wants a mover.\r And, since I promised the woman that I spoke to on the phone that I will write a review about them after my move, here it is. Average Moving Company, as always be suspicious 6/26/2008

I googled: ""best moving company los angeles"" and I found the Citysearch Best of page. I read the reviews and called an setup an appt. After, I started reading all the reviews and I got suspicious. They are all very similar and each poster has not rated any other business. How can a moving company get so many perfect reviews? Hmmm...\r \r I've used them. They are average. They charge by the hour and they are average in speed. Like all movers, they nickle and dime you on overpriced boxes, tape, shrink rap etc. They are ethicial as they disclose all the prices but expect to pay well over $150 for supplies (not including boxes). I didn't have a bad experience, but I obviously didn't have this 5 star experience as other claims. Pros: On time, decent prices Cons: Typical moving co. - Questionable self-reviews, nickle and dime you on supplies more

The Worst moving company! 6/6/2008

I don't usually write any reviews, but this company was the worst moving experience in my life. \r First of all, the three men were not professional, rude, slow and dishonest. \r My new place was just 2 blocks from the old one, yet they charged me $1,500 (for a 1 bedroom apartment), but I didn't see this coming, for they charged me extra after they finished unloading. They told me that they worked extra hours, so they will have to charge more. Did I mention how slow they were? Now I'm pretty sure that was on purpose. \r And it's not all. They broke some of my furniture, including 2 floor lamps, and stole some of my belongings - Why? I have no idea, but that painting was very valuable to me.\r I'll tell every one and all of my friends not to use this movers and make sure this review gets everywhere online. Stay away from this company! more

I never knew moving could be so easy! 5/3/2008

I have to thank Citysearch and its users for making my choice VERY easy when choosing a moving company. From the onset, Northstar was extremely courteous and respectful. Their website was easy to navigate and user friendly. The customer service representatives were friendly, professional, and thorough--they made sure I understood every last detail and walked me through the planning stages every step of the way. I also found their prices to be very reasonable.\r \r I was moving locally to a 1-bedroom apartment, which was easy enough, but I had many heavy items (including a treadmill) and a flight of stairs to contend with. The movers arrived 15 minutes early, so I didn't have to sit around waiting all morning. They were SO FAST--I cannot stress this point enough--I literally turned around to eat a McDonald's hash brown and when I turned back my living room was cleared of boxes and my couches were being wrapped and moved. With their rapid speed one might be concerned with carelessness or breakage, but the movers protected every piece of furniture and were extremely polite and professional. They even packed the left over knick-knacks that I overlooked and had forgotten to box. Again, LIGHTNING-FAST and PROFESSIONAL.\r \r My sister and I were so impressed we decided to time them to see how long it would take to unload the van and properly place all of my furniture. 20 minutes. Twenty minutes and all my belongings were safely placed in my new apartment. The entire move took less than three hours and I was more than happy to pay the three-hour minimum.\r \r Northstar and its fabulous movers helped make what would have normally been a hellish ordeal into a pleasant experience. We were finished so early I was able to go out shopping for a new rug and drapes! Thank you Northstar and Citysearch!! I must let the world know about Northstar moving company located at 9120, Mason Ave, Chatsworth, Ca, 91311. Its the second time for us using there services. nothing less then excellent service from the start to end. compatible price, professional and courteous movers, showing up on time. fast, clean, pleasant and was well worth every penny. moving was not stressful it was pleasant. NorthStar handled my move a week ago. They did a very good job. Goti gave us an on-site estimate, and he was a pleasure to work with. Helpful and very courteous. He gave us a flat rate that included everything. There were no hidden charges or fees. A four man crew packed us up one day, and moved us the next day. They were on time both days, and worked diligently. Two of the guys, Juan and Joel, were very experienced and professional. Nothing broke and the move went smoothly. I would certainly use them again. Every move presents its challenges, to both the homeowner and the mover. But factor in forty-one years of accumulation and memories, and it becomes even move difficult. NorthStar understands this. The physical moving of boxes and furniture became secondary to the care that the crew displayed. They understood that they were not just handling material objects that filled a house, but more importantly that constructed a home. The crew truly made my parents feel that they were NorthStar's most important clients. The Northstar men showed the utmost professionalism and care. Outstanding 12/24/2007

Northstar movers provided me with the best moving experience I've had in LA. Their sales staff was courteous and helpful even when I threw them a few last minute curve-balls. More surprisingly, the crew they sent out was equally obliging and went out of their way to keep me from incurring any extra charges. And my move wasn't easy...there were 25 steps straight up a hill at my new residence and they didn't flinch. Nor did they slow down...everything was unloaded and in my apartment in under 2hours. I would highly recommend Northstar and understand why they are consistently rated Best of Citysearch in LA. more

My family and I wanted to say how satisfied we were with the moving service that NorthStar provided us with. The crew was professional and yet extremely pleasant. They did not know the word no. They worked efficiently and happily. There was no damage done to any of our furniture and we kept our sense of mind. more
