First off, I am the owner of Norman Computers, so my opinion is obviously biased. It has come to my attention that we received a negative review on this site and I thought it best to address the issue.
First off, we do a FREE DIAGNOSTICS. This means you can bring in your computer and we will give you our opinion at no charge. If you don't like what we have to say, or if the computer is not worth fixing, there is still NO CHARGE!
Second, all projects that get checked in are entered into our database system. If you have any questions or concerns about your project, we are always happy to go over the notes with you. If your project is not in our database system, and if we do not have a signed authorization form to work on your project, then it was never checked in at our facility and you probably have us confused with another company.
Finally, most projects are completed within 24 hours unless we have to special order parts. Due to the volume of computers we service, we do not have room to store a project longer than necessary. It is important that customers write their contact information clearly on our check-in form and verify the information so we are able to contact you when your project is completed.
Norman Computers has been around for 11+ years (more if you count my private consulting service i ran in college). Over the years, we have had both praise and criticism and constantly work to improve our service. This is why we have outlasted many failed competitors.
I do not claim our service to be perfect, though we are organized and very careful about what we do. In many cases, we will attempt very difficult projects that have a significant chance of failure since we guarantee our work and only charge for work completed successfully (which can save the customer a lot of money), or transfer the data to a new system if unsuccessful.
The most common cause of delay is a customer not signing the authorization form since my technicians will not perform unauthorized work. It is true that there have been computers left at Norman Computers for many months... though never because we do not call since we only get paid if the customer picks up their system. I find it completely unreasonable that a person would not stop by to check on their system were it in the shop for more than a few days after the promised delivery time, yet we have accumulated dozens of abandoned computers over the years. Usually, this is because a person decides it is not worth fixing and forgets to tell us or something happens and they can't afford the repair last minute. (though it is our policy to work with people on their repair costs as best as we are able)
I cannot stress this enough... If your computer is in the store more than a couple days past the promised completion date, please call us. We probably have incorrect contact information and would really like for you to pick up your computer. Feel free to call with any questions (405) 292-9501
