to die for...... 5/23/2011

Just visited Noho's for the first time, and we weren't disappointed. Very friendly staff, and love the small, quaint location. They even have outside seating available for when the weather cooperates. The food? To die for!!! It was superb. Can't wait to go back. more

The greatest macaroni salad in the world. 10/30/2010

I can't believe anybody would have negative comments about Noho's. First, lets focus on service. I believe that great service is very important and the staff working at Noho's is with out a doubt the best. My wife have been eating at Noho's for quite some time now and several of the waitresses have remembered us and always make sure we are comfortable and happy. Second, the food is generally consistently good. There's been a couple times that my steak is a little dry but overall the food has been good. Finally the macaroni salad at Noho's is by far the best macaroni salad I have ever eaten. We always order large side dishes of macaroni salad so we can take it home for lunch at work. more

Seemed fine to me... 9/13/2010

Sometimes restaurants will advertise huge portions, and then not deliver. I did not feel that this was the case here. Be aware, though, that not all the dishes are the same size, but rather come in degrees of hugeness. A large-sized basic teriyaki chicken, for example, is not quite as huge as the Korean chicken (ok, so that's the only example that I know of; I'm still waiting for a grant to conduct the rest of my research). Other notes: -The green salad was subpar, but the ""tropical"" dressing was tastier than I expected. -The place was actually crowded, not what I expected for 11:30am on a Monday. -The prices have risen, at least for all of the chicken dishes. From what I recall they are about $1.75 higher than the prices now posted on Noho's website. -The server was friendly without being overbearing, and had a great smile. more

SO MANY BAD REVIEWS.... WHY? 2/20/2010

So, I have only been here once. I will continue to go, and doubt that I will have as many bad things to say as I have seen on here. The server is somewhat dry, but not rude or bad. It is not like the other trendy hipster places around. I felt compelled to write a review because I saw so many bad ones. Surprised. My husband got korean ribs and chicken with garlic, both spicy, rice and mac salad. A side of veggies, big for price. Overall a little pricey, but it is in hipster SE. The food was quick, delicious, and unique. DELICIOUS! The server was quick, efficient, and helpful. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Price, Size more

What Happened?? 4/2/2009

This used to be my favorite casual restaurant in Portland. 1. The macaroni salad was the best on the planet. 2. Their entrees were always the freshest, best quality. 3. With three different portion sizes you were sure to get a great value (not cheap, but a good value). Pros: Nothing. Absolutely Nothing! Cons: Everything! And I Do Mean Everything! more

Worse food ever in Portland 10/27/2008

So this is my first review on a restaurant - but I've been working in restaurants for years as a server. I've never felt compelled to write one, but I feel like I should warn you! My friend and I both have 3 month old babies.. so we figure, it'd be better if they scream outside than in this little restaurant and ruin everyones lunch, I asked to sit outside, and all our server said was ""I'm not serving outside"" Short and Rude.... Alright, so we sat inside. We sat there for probably 15 minutes before she came back to give us water... meanwhile she's dropping off food at the table next to us. They sat there for 5-7 minutes w/out any silverware and had to ask her for it!! So we get out waters, ...then have to ask to order our lunch. My friend asks how the macaroni salad is, and this girl just looked at her.......then says there's macaroni in it. Holy $&*^!! Really?? She takes our order, the food came up quick, which was great, and the food was good. Not really impressed w/ the bowl of iceberg lettuce that they call a salad, but everything else was good. I'm hoping that the owner or a manager reads this and realizes that they've gotta get rid of this girl. She was the only server there, short dark hair, we went in at about 1pm on Mon. Aug. 19 ......and she's wasn't just short and rude to us.. the place is small enough to hear what's going on at other tables too. One woman asked for a to-go cup for her iced tea.. and all the server said was ""no cups"" WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD..... EVER. If I go back, it will be for take-out. The one star rating is for the service......I'd give a negative rating to her if I could... But I'd give the guys in the kitchen 4. Pros: nothing Cons: rude and bad food more

To the unhappy Bride 9/20/2008

I was the Bartender at your beautiful wedding. I am sorry there was a lack of communication during 8 months. more

Yummy 9/14/2008

Good food, good prices. Highly recommend the kahlua pork and korean chicken. Definitely a good spot to go and pick up lunch for a nice change of pace from your typical teriyaki shop fare. more

Went the Extra Mile for my Daughter 8/23/2008

I went to Noho for the first time this week with my sister, who loves the place, my mother and my 3 year old daughter. We opted to sit outside so I missed on the atmosphere inside BUT the waitress, a soft spoken gal who was very attentive, brought my daughter a half glass of juice telling me that because the drinks have free refills she thought the little one would prefer it. I only ordered food for adults thinking we'd share with my daughter but the waitress brought her a little bowl of white rice with lightly flavored shredded chicken. I was so touched that she paid such attention to the ""joys"" of taking a child out to a resteraunt. Pros: kid friendly attentive staff EXCELLENT food Cons: large servings are a bit spendier more

Hey Portland: try this place! 8/13/2008

Aside from the excellent food, I would come here simply for the fact that I am SO impressed with the customer service I recently experienced. After a not-so-great experience with an employee at the Cedar Hills location (who is longer there) I called to express my concern to management. When I called I spoke to Noho himself who more than compensated me for my meal. I honestly felt that he was glad I called. Pros: delicious food, great guest service, good value Cons: usually busy during lunch rush more

If I only could go to 1 restaurant, this would be the one! 10/24/2007

I have to admit, it's tempting to keep quiet about Noho's fantastic food. After all, who wants the whole world at your favorite restaurant?..........But, I'll squelch my selfishness to tell you that Noho's has the BEST chicken. I always order the same thing - the Ono Chicken. It's so good it practically melts in your mouth.=========================== The seating is pretty tight at the Clinton Street location, so don't expect a private dining experience --- just expect great food & fast service. Pros: The FOOD! Cons: Not a lot of room at the tables, or in between tables more

Satisfy the Meat Craving 8/9/2007

This is where I go when i want grilled meat. I love the spicy Korean chicken - and the spicy Korean ribs. I also like the Teriyaki Beef. If you are really hungry, order the Yakisoba noodles. The portions are quite large. If I want to finish it all, I order the smallest size ""menehune"". If i want to take some home, i order the regular size. They do have vegetables here too, but you have to like your vegetables very much on the crunchy side. IMaybe it's healthier that way, but I like my broccoli cooked a little more. more

NoHo's indeed! 5/30/2007

This place is far from a hho. In fact, it's fantastic. The portions are huge and the price is great. I've been to other NoHo's locations and none can compare to the one on Clinton. Yeee! more

Great food but not cheep 5/23/2007

They have great Hawaiian food but I was turned off by the prices. Pros: Good Food Cons: Price, Value more

Great Hawaiian Food 3/3/2007

Noho's is one of the few restaurants that we missed in the 7 years that we were away from Portland. I always looked forward to stopping by Noho's as soon as we got into town. Now that we live here agian, we have gotten in to our old habbits and we get take out there at least once a week. The Yakisoba with Ono Chicken, Sesame Oil and Oyster sauce is the best. The teriyaki beef and Kaluha Pork are solid as well. The service is always super friendly, the prices are cheap and the place is kid friendly. I am glad to see that Noho's is growing, they deserve it. Pros: There is nothing on the menu that is bad Cons: There isnt one in Sellwood more

Best Hawaiian joint in town! 12/21/2006

Phil's Ono chicken and Spicy Korean ribs. That's it. You can't go wrong with that tandem like Abbott and Costello, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, Watson and Crick. Like most Hawaiian fare, it's heavy on the meat and starches (rice and mac salad) and veggies are nary to be seen. Large portions (especially Blalah size) and prices are commensurate. Fresh seafood is usually on the menu and also is prepared well, but again, the staples that Noho's is known for are the chicken and beef. Pros: Great Hawaiian cuisine on the eastside! Cons: Smallish cafe setting with a wait, but it is homey feeling. more

Best Hawaiian I Have Ever Had 11/30/2006

My wife and I just went there lst night for the first time. The environment was cozy and comfortable and the service was excellent! I decided to try the Kaluha Pig and my wife went for the Teriyaki Chicken. Both dishes were absolutely fabulous! I can't say enough about the Kaluha Pig!!! I got an extra large order, simply so I could take leftovers home! The portions are big and the taste is superb! This will now be a favorite place for us! Pros: Taste, Value, Service more

I love Noho's 11/1/2006

Don't know what we would do without you Noho's! The food is consistently great and the servers are warm and welcoming. On Friday's you can get Kalua pig! Who could ask for more. Pros: Great atmosphere, food, servers more
