Great place for plate lunch food but be prepared to shell out some money. Whateva happened to $5 plate lunches??? Oh, they're at L&L's. Pros: ono, mac salad Cons: prices, ...

Best plate lunch in Portland 9/5/2006

Nohos is just good... no arguing about it. They cook some amazing ono and teri chicken and short ribs, the mac salad is creamy and will make you have a huge bum if you eat it on the regular, but its all good in moderation! I can't say enough about this place, however, it's small so don't take your family of 14 there and expect to get seated promptly! Pros: great hawaiian food Cons: too small for your family of 14 more

OK, not especially ono 4/30/2006

We went to Noho's for the first time since moving here from Kauai a few years ago. No lau-lau, no kalua pork, no oxtail soup, not much fish, NO POI, and out of saimin. Our lunch wasn't bad and the service was really good (plenny aloha!) but pretty pricy for plate lunch. Flavors seemed adjusted for west coast taste, not better or worse, but different from what we were used to on Kauai. Pros: Service Cons: No Hawaiian staples, how can they not have more

Just like Hawaii 2/28/2006

All the dishes are perfect comfort food - many just like I've had in Hawaii. The savory chicken with rice and macaroni salad are a perfect guilty pleasure and enough for two. A great take out option when I'm in the neighborhood Pros: comfort food, convenience Cons: ?calories more

Pretty Good Food 2/26/2006

The noodle dishes seem to come with TONS of noodles, a couple of pieces of veggi's, and some meat but not enough to compete with the noodles. I would like it better if they took half of the noodles away and added 20X the vegetables. However it is very salty, sugary, oily, and expensive so I only go there a couple of times a year. Pros: flavorful food, huge portions, cozy atmosphere Cons: expensive, unhealthy, not enough vegetables more

I had heard great things about their food, but was sadly disappointed. I left feeling unsatisfied & would not go back again. The food was way too salty and laden with fat. At least I did not pay a lot of money or wait long for a table! Pros: tender meat, prompt service, friendly staff Cons: very salty!!!!!!, very fatty!!!!, small more

If you love food.........youll love Nohos 10/6/2005

Been going here for years..........even when it was a place called Local Boyz. While the food is simple, it is also very good and can be had in gargantuan proportions if wanted. There are times when it is just what the doctor ordered, and has enough diversity on the menu to please most folks. Carnivores delight, and a great place for kids! Pros: Food, Price, service Cons: A bit small, parking more

Hawaii in Portland! 5/9/2004

You can only truly judge Noho's if you are familiar with authentic Hawaiian fare. This place has it. The key thing to remember here is you will get a lot of food! My advice split your order with a friend! Try everything-- it all is soooo gooood. Pros: best Korean ribs, fun service staff, TASTY food Cons: , small dining room more

Size versus substance 12/28/2003

Nothing's duller than a whining vegetarian, but here goes. The yakisoba is billed as a ""mound of noodles and vegetables."" Should be ""mound of noodles, and a vegetable or two."" If your criterion for great food is sheer mass, this is your place. But be warned: you pay for it. more

Nice lunch spot 10/19/2003

Nice cozy restaurant with a window view of the quaint Clinton St neighborhood. Phil Ono's chicken here tastes great, I often order this dish. If you're in an adventureous mood, be sure to get the Spicy Korean Ribs. more

Hot & Sweet Chicken! 7/20/2003

Good grief was this place good! It was our first time there, but I'd definitely go back. The service was quick and friendly, the portions huge (we ordered medium) and the prices reasonable. I love the neighborhood as well. Free kids meal for my 2 year old niece! Pros: delicious, variety, good service Cons: uncomfortable seats, cramped space more

Fabulous Chicken 4/3/2003

Noho's has the main components for a good restaurant: friendly wait staff, good food, and a good niche. Both the teriyaki and their house special chicken were excellent--moist and flavorful! Their macaroni salad has a unique--and good--flavor. This has definitely made it into my rotation of restaurants. more

Where's the main course? 10/31/2002

Nine bucks for an appetizer that they call lunch? I thought Polynesians like to eat? I like to eat and I walked away hungrier than when I walked in. Plus, they wanted me to cough up another buck or so to get a refill on Coke. What a joke. I say for $9 you ought to get full and maybe one refill if it's not too much trouble. The food was pretty good and for my three-year-old daughter it would have been a nice-sized kids meal but for an adult, no. To sum up, tastes great, less filling. Don Pros: good for dieters, cute waitresses, can't think of one Cons: expensive, small portions, cramped more

ono, ono, ono 10/25/2002

Great place for plate lunch food but be prepared to shell out some money. Whateva happened to $5 plate lunches??? Oh, they're at L&L's. Pros: ono, mac salad Cons: prices, prices, prices more

Food Only on Friday's?! 7/5/2002

After making an extra special trip to this much talked-up restaurant, my friend and I were told that many items (notabley lau lau's) were only served on Friday's, as they were shipped up from Hawaii and no cook on site could prepare the dishes. I think the website, citysearch, or someone should have mentioned this to us, but instead our orders were turned down and we left with empty bellies. I'm sure this restaurant may be a good one, I just advise you go on a Friday to get the food your after. And since their food is shipped from the great Island, I'm sure it's authentic, but now I wonder about it's freshness. . . so good luck to you. more

Ono grinds! Cheap eats-NOT! 6/6/2002

This is great traditional ""plate lunch"" hawaiian style food. But traditional Hawaiian prices, it is not. The mac salad is to die for as is the rest of the food---takes me back to Hawaiia. But they are not the only game in town serving plate lunch specials. Prices are too expensive compared to the competition. And the service and speed at which your food arrives needs much help. Don't get me wrong, I love their food, just not worth going out of your way for it. Mahalo... Pros: Food, Authenticity Cons: Prices, service more

It's For Real 5/20/2002

It's the only place in town I know of where you can get a real Hawaiian plate lunch. Sooo yummy. Makes me miss Hawaii. Pros: big portions, inexpensive, authentic Cons: small space, crowded more
