Maybe Monday's are just not good for this restaurant.
I took my wife here for her 40th Birthday - we had the 9 course chef's menu with wine pairing.
The service was excellent throughout.
The food was a great disappointment. The raw scallop dish smelled exceedingly fishy and was slimy - why we didn't send it back, I can't explain (at least we didn't get sick). The filet mignon was very mealy, maybe over-seared or worse, re-heated - we did send that back. The lamb, rabbit and cheese dishes were good, albeit simple. Other dishes were lame to uninteresting and things anyone could do at home (e.g., quarter of a tomato with a splat of wasabi on top and sea salt on the side).
All of the wines were good, but none paired with the dish(i.e., the taste didn't alter at all after sampling the food) - no bottles were brought to the table, just the glass, so we could not confirm what wines we were actually getting.
Based on other reviews, maybe we just chose the worst day possible - we were the only people in the restaurant.
Based on the $$$$ for our meal, for fish, I'd recommend Providence. Spago has the best chefs menu (this is our benchmark), followed closely by Hatfields. Ortolan and Grace are also highly recommended. Unfortunately, Noe is now at the bottom of our list.
Pros: Service
Cons: Food
