I love the bean dip and the pickles before the meal -- a very nice touch.

Very pretty but food just ok 8/3/2009

The look of No. 7 is very nice, but I have to say I wasn't that impressed with the food. It took an hour to get seated for dinner on Sat night, so a friend and I split a bottle of wine at the bar and eventually got a snack, which took forever because we had to order from the bartender, who was understandably very busy and didn't see us trying to flag him down. I wasn't really into the ceviche, and was starving by the time we got a table. Service was fine, but my roast chicken was pretty spicy, which I didn't expect, and for $20, three little rounds of breast meat are not worth the price. My friend had the salmon, which she thought was fine but not great. A $120 or so bill for one app, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine could go much further at other Brooklyn establishments with better food. I'd go back to look at No. 7, but not for dinner. Pros: Pretty interior Cons: Fussy food was fancy but not delicious more

Best Late Night Menu Ever 1/3/2009

We were looking for late late late night food and instead of the usual frozen deep fried pub food or greasy Chinese, we read about the new Ft. Greene hot spot No. 7. We showed up after 1am and everyone on staff was delightful, not tired or annoyed - in fact it was one of the most welcoming dining experiences we've had in a long time. While the late night menu is indeed a truncated version of the full menu (which looks incredible), this is not a fried food short list (as almost all late night menus are), but rather a handful of selections from their incredibly inventive and unique repertoire. This was truly intellectual food, e.g. Thai basil Jello cubes as a garnish instead of fries. We had one soft pulled pork taco dish that was incredible, fresh, filling and unlike anything we've had - from Momofuku and beyond. The other dishes were equally delicious with the same attention to detail (sauces and dips that really stand out). The room was beautiful, romantic and historic, and the location is unbeatable - right above the subway for those of you traveling from afar. I am rarely this impressed, and never with my late night experiences. I can't even imagine how exciting the regular menu must be! Pros: Smart, Special Late Night Food in Romantic Setting more
