Worst Dining Experience Ever!! 12/30/2010

My family and I recently visited Nino's for our mother's birthday. We had party of 10 and I made the reservations over 4 weeks ago. We had visited Nino's before, so we were looking forward to a great Italian meal! For starters, the service was TERRIBLE!! Second, we waited over 3 hours for our food, on top of that my mother had to leave early before her meal arrived, because she was in pain from sitting down so long and this was HER birthday dinner! Third, I complained several times to the owner and our waitress and they both blew me off. They were very unapologetic and didn't offer us any percentage off our meals or a free dessert or drink...bad customer service especially from a family owned restaurant, I would expect more! What angers me the most is that I made reservations so far in advance and we were treated like dirt over the other customers. It's really too bad because I think the food is actually decent and our waitress could of made out huge in tips from our party! We will NEVER go there again and I will continue to share my experience with all of my friends and family! I really hate to say this, but you're better off going to the Olive Garden. more

Over Priced 12/12/2010

We were excited as this was our first visit to Nino's. We had been told it was outstanding but to expect slow service. The service was slow, including the drinks. The salad was small and mediocre as were the entres. Everything was priced for perfection including the drinks. A small 1 1/2 oz. of sour cream for a baked potato was an addition .75 cents. A tall glass of draft Labatt Beer (approximately 22 ozs.) was $4.50. Overall, we felt the prices were high relative to the service and food quality. Some things are best done once. Nino's is one of them! more

great food 2/14/2010

I have been going to Nino's for 25 yrs. The food is excellent. Their pizza is the best I've ever eaten. If you are in a rush, it's not the place for you, but their food has always been great. I think the negative reviews are probably from competitiors that are jealous of their success even after they close for 2 months. Pros: best food in town more

we love stoping by whenever in town 1/20/2010

Nino's has a near perfect Italian atmosphere, not to mention great cuisine and from what we've seen in central Michigan for Italian, this place has lots to offer, Bay City is lucky to have such a place. We LOVE the pizza! Wish you could be open in the summer! Pros: large vegetarian selections Cons: closed June thru September more

food? 12/10/2009

If you enjoy being ripped off by all means go to nino's. Everything is super high prices for example the ovenbaked spag $17.00 for wallmart noodles and some cheese and ragu spag sauce yum yum i can make that at home for under 5.00, what a rip off and they do use ragu more

Best Italian in the Tri-CIties & authentic too 9/9/2006

We've never been disappointed in Nino's. We've been to Italy 3 times and are 'foodies' to boot. We know what pesto is, roma tomatoes, that 'real' mozzarella is made from water buffalo milk, that great Parmesan is Parmeggiano Reggiano, etc. Nino's does a fantastic job for a family restaurant in a smaller midwest city whose audience wouldn't tolerate the prices they'd have to demand if flew in top-flight Italian rarities. We've only had one so-so meal in the many years we've been driving there (30 minutes). It really is a family restaurant that closes in the summer so they can go be with family in the old country. Don't miss the Ravioli Vanessa or salad Liliana. Enjoy the smaller, original dining room with the many signed Chianti bottles in their straw casings, or dine in the larger, modern, high-ceilinged addition. We think Olive Garden is OK, Macaroni Grill is pretty darn good, and Nino's is also pretty darn good but in a different way. You'll see the same gals there year after year as waitresses. We like it - you should, too! more

Over-rated 5/28/2006

Granted, we made our reservations without knowing that Nino's was closing in a week for the summer. The selections were paltry. The pasta tasted overcooked and pastey. We had the impression that the dishes were coming out of a microwave (dish hot - food cold in spots). Service was slow, despite that there were relatively few customers in the dining room. Friends said that our experience was abnormal. However, the impending summer vacation should not be an excuse to slacken off. Nino took our money just the way they take everyone else's all winter long. We deserved their best effort up until the day they close the doors for vacation. If there's extra deserts left-over, I am sure that the staff would appreciate it as a bonus. more
