Newton Auto Driving School

At first I was worried about driving for the first time. However, the driving instructor was very patient and experienced. On the first day we started off with doing left and right turns within a residential area. After an hours worth of practicing turns we went out onto the main street. During the second and third day, we just drove around while practicing: merging, turning right on red lights, three point turns, driving on freeways, turning on unprotected green lights, and parking (on hills and in parking lots). Throughout the three days of driving the instructor constantly gave encouragement, which helped a lot with the learning process. Overall it was a great experience and I definitely recommend Newton Driving School to anyone that wants to learn how to drive. more

My entire experience with Newton driving school was great. Thanks to Yakir I passed my road test with flying colors. I was very nervous having failed the road test before (different school). Yakir made the experience extremely comfortable and worry free. He took his time to explain things and when I made a mistake he made sure to let me know so I could correct it the next go round. This business is run very poorly! Very disorganized and it is extremely hard to book driving time. The excuse you get is that they don't use computers and it is hard to keep track of everything. On 4 different occasions they left my son standing and waiting at NNHS for his driving time. Just never showed. No appologies just was told to make another appointment. Then when he was in the car there was little or no instruction. The instructor was on his cell most of the time. Today tops it all off though! He was told to go to NSHS at 10:00 to take his test and get his license. He showed up on time and handed in his paperwork. After an hour and a half wait he was then told that he was not on the the list and would have to reschedule. The sad part is I even called the office Monday because I know how unorganized they are and the office woman said he is on the list and ready to go. After I explained all this the instructor on site cursed at me in Russian and ripped up my paper work. Pathetic Company....Stay far away from this place! more

Got exactly what I signed up for, the lectures were fine, and stressed the importance of being a safe driver which made me more aware of what I was doing on the road. The personal instructors in the car were also helpful, pointed out mistakes and explained how to do everything, very approachable people who helped out and took the time to answer any questions clearly. Overall a great experience, got what I wanted. more

I definitely recommend going to the Newton Auto School. The instructors are kind, patient and helpful. They are all very well versed in city driving, and have a manner of teaching that can make even the most nervous, confused driver confident behind in the wheel in just a few weeks. Furthermore, they have all been teaching driving for long enough that they know exactly what will be expected of you at the road test, so there will be no surprises and you can easily pass on your first try. If he's available, I particularly recommend Mr. Yakir. he is a owner. All in all, Newton Auto School is a great place to learn how to drive and anyone who wants to quickly earn their license and feel comfortable on the road should go there! more

I jumped aboard the learning-how-to-drive bandwagon kind of late (the summer after I graduated from high school), and I had no idea where to start. Luckily, this driving school was recommended to my family, and they were absolutely wonderful. They let me know what I needed to do, and helped me along every step of the way. The driving instruction I received was satisfactory and informative, and the scheduling was simple and easy. It only took me two weeks to feel confident and fully prepared for the road test, and I definitely have this school to thank for my license! more

I just want to let everyone know that I had the best experience with this driving school. I brought my two teenagers to this school and handed them over to the very professional staff, including the owner. All was done very precisely and in a timely manner. They have very knowledgeable instructors. I would recommend this driving school to anyone! We got our driver's license in two weeks without any problems or headaches. more

Please, stay away from this driving school. They're a bunch of bigots and thieves ready to take your money, giving you NOTHING. They will give you poor instruction, bigotry if you're not not Caucasian, the instructors are jerks ready to put you down at any mistake you make while trying to learn, they don't care about clients, they will not come to pick you at the fixed time, they'll shorten your classes for their advantage. I'd NEVER would recommend this driving school to anybody: it's AWFUL ! more

Words can?t even begin to describe the frustration we felt in dealing with the Newton Driving School. We have never complained about something in this manner, but our experience with this business over the last 9 months has been the singularly most frustrating experience we have ever had ? and we are in our early 50?s!! Trying to communicate and schedule driving / observing appointments for our daughter was just unbelievable. As a result, the Russian owners seem to end up in verbal arguments with lots of customers, including us. The real problem is they have no scheduling system ? everything must be done through the owner and when you are lucky enough to catch her, she is rude and will not commit to anything, nor will she return your calls ? no matter how many you make. Everything is ?we?ll see ? let me pencil you in and get back to you? ? yet she will not call you back and when you do catch her she has ?forgotten? she penciled you in. We fell for it early on (first couple months after our daughter finished her class work), but then had to resort to camping out to catch the owner when she was supposed to be at their office and then we had to refuse to leave until she booked us an appointment ? it was unbelievable. If we didn?t have to give them 100% of our money up front, we would have gone someplace else early on. In an effort to try and say something positive, the instructors seemed ok and if you want an easy driving test ? take it through them ? it is a joke how easy them make it ? in many ways, the registry should be ashamed of letting them do license testing. more

My son had a terrible experience at Newton Driving School. The classes were fine, but the driving instruction is terrible! The woman who has the task of scheduling the driving times is rude and incompetent. This is an ongoing problem (I've now read reviews going back to 2007 that complain about this person). The other problem is that the instructors ""sign off"" on observation hours that have not been completed. more

If you need to get the Massachusetts license it is better to do it through this school. I had an international license from EU and just needed to take the road test. I didn't have a friend with the suitable car to be a sponsor for the road test in RMV. So I called and asked if they can provide me with the car for my test. But they offered to take the road test through their driving school. First I was very skeptical and wasn't sure whether it is allowed by the state to have the test around some newton high school. To my surprise it is! They also offered me to take a lesson and I agreed. I was told a lot of new things about the road test procedure itself and after the lesson the only thing I had to practice was the parallel parking. On the road test day I felt ready and confident. But the only thing is that they scheduled me for 9 a.m and I was't told that there were 4 people scheduled from 9-10. So I had to wait almost an hour and the test itself took not more than 10 min. But now I can tell that even waiting was worth it. I observed others doing the parallel parking and it probably helped me to understand what distance between the wheel and the curb the policeman required. So as I told I felt pretty confident about my driving and I passed it without any problems and got my plastic in around 10 days. I should thank the boss (sorry do not remember his name) for giving me a lesson before the road test and I will advise you to take the road test with these guys. more

I had a very bad experience just talking to them over the phone. I explained to them that I had the permit and the lady on the phone couldnt even bear to listen to what I was telling her...I had the permit and I clearly told her that but she kept asking me the same question over and over again. More importantly she wanted to know which country I was from, I never know drving skills very inclined to nationality!!! Cons: They dont understand or listen to what the caller says... more

Couldn't be better (I'll never find out either). All the classes were on time. Class was structured well. I had Jerry for both the classroom and the driving and he's the man! more

My school offers driver's ed on campus. Don't want to badmouth them, but after finishing the theory, the waiting time for driving was going to be 2 months. Said &$#% it and called NDS. Finished driving in 2 weeks. took road test with them a week later. no problems. Pros: Nice cars more
