THEY CLOSED!\r \r New Convenant suspended operations for the 13/14 school year. If the Degeneste’s reopen a school, avoid it. They can not be trusted with the education or children. They are trying to raise funds, and find a location, to reopen. \r \r Degenestes (owners of the school) waited till 2 weeks prior to school opening to tell parents they had no place to hold the school. The left about 20 families scrambling for last minute placement of their children. The gave the flimsy excuse that the church they were in let an ex convict stay on the property. So they had to close. Funny how they did not react when the church had excons working there. \r \r It was common knowledge in Plainfield that the church wanted them out of there. They told parents last year that they would move to another building that had playground facilities and more classrooms. NCCA kept promising better facilities, but they never materialized. \r \r The church is about a block long and the apt is at the opposite end of the campus. Plus, their is a head start, and a bunch of youth programs within 2 square blocks of the location. \r \r It closed because the curriculum is horrible. The graduating seniors of 12/13 could not pass the English test and they had to go to Summer School. NCCA closed because parents were pulling kids out of school in the middle of the week because of the way administration treated their kids. The administration was so hard to deal with that over half their teachers were not returning. \r \r If New Convenant re-opens avoid it. Their test scores are abysmmal, the administration is dishonest, and your kids would fall behind their peers. Plainfield public schools are better than this one. Catholic schools are cheaper and do a much better job. \r more

Attend as a last resort. Poor academics poor test scores 11/17/2011

My child attend this school for several years. Because of the Principals' personality, I switched to a Catholic School. My son had to play catch up. He earned honor roll grades at NCCA. However, his test scores raised concerns. I found the curriculum was not preparing the children for tests. They use the Abeka curriculum which is put out by BOB JONES UNIVERSITY. This is a horrible idea. Teachers try to supplement, but are hindered by the dual grade classrooms. My honor students test scores were below my neigbors in my suburban public school. That school is just ok. THis is highly shocking and disappointing. I was surprised at how deprived my son was attending this school. Catholic school curriculum is better. They are not as strict as their stereotype. And I find them more user friendly. NCCA demands to much of parents time. NCCA has no playground, and their materials are extremely limited. NCCA reinforces our family morals and values. They have high expectations and good discipline. Their curriculum sucks. Especially science. The teachers are good and try to supplement the curriculum. However, the dual classroom means that man concepts on the standardized tests are not covered. Some of their kids got scholarships to Prestigious prep schools. These kids went to school on Saturdays and their parents supplemented NCCA teaching. Do not let them claim credit for these star students. In summation, the school maybe appropriate for you if you are trying to escape districts like Plainfield, Newark, and Roselle. This school may work for you if your child is behind in school and needs discipline. If you have average children and want academics that can get them adequate test scores GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If you are concerned about your child's safety, then go there. Bullying is handled quickly once the Principal becomes aware. However, beware of the neighborhood. Violence is occurring close to the school. If you live in Piscattaway, Somerset, Dunellen, South Plainfield, or any other suburban school district, then go there. Those districts test scores are much better than NCCAs more

Excellent School 3/6/2010

Our son has attended NCCA since its inception. We struggled to find a good school for him without success until we enrolled him in NCCA. The school offers superb academics, a positive environment, and leadership training in all grades. We have been so happy with our son's academic progress. Pros: Best Education more
