Review content:
My child attend this school for several years. Because of the Principals' personality, I switched to a Catholic School. My son had to play catch up.
He earned honor roll grades at NCCA. However, his test scores raised concerns. I found the curriculum was not preparing the children for tests. They use the Abeka curriculum which is put out by BOB JONES UNIVERSITY. This is a horrible idea. Teachers try to supplement, but are hindered by the dual grade classrooms. My honor students test scores were below my neigbors in my suburban public school. That school is just ok. THis is highly shocking and disappointing.
I was surprised at how deprived my son was attending this school. Catholic school curriculum is better. They are not as strict as their stereotype. And I find them more user friendly. NCCA demands to much of parents time. NCCA has no playground, and their materials are extremely limited.
NCCA reinforces our family morals and values. They have high expectations and good discipline. Their curriculum sucks. Especially science. The teachers are good and try to supplement the curriculum. However, the dual classroom means that man concepts on the standardized tests are not covered.
Some of their kids got scholarships to Prestigious prep schools. These kids went to school on Saturdays and their parents supplemented NCCA teaching. Do not let them claim credit for these star students.
In summation, the school maybe appropriate for you if you are trying to escape districts like Plainfield, Newark, and Roselle. This school may work for you if your child is behind in school and needs discipline.
If you have average children and want academics that can get them adequate test scores GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
If you are concerned about your child's safety, then go there. Bullying is handled quickly once the Principal becomes aware. However, beware of the neighborhood. Violence is occurring close to the school.
If you live in Piscattaway, Somerset, Dunellen, South Plainfield, or any other suburban school district, then go there. Those districts test scores are much better than NCCAs
