The best Vietnamese coffee in the northeast 5/18/2007

We love to eat here! The waiters are friendly but just reserved enough to remind you of how professional waiters behave (think: any country outside the US). The spring rolls and the Vietnamese rolls are mind-blowing. Don't miss them! We've tried a number of dishes and although some are just great, your chances of getting something outstanding are very good. But then there's the Vietnamese coffee. Order it iced or hot, it's some of the best in the northeast - even including New York City (according to a local Syracuse coffee roaster). Once in awhile a less experienced waiter makes the coffee; if it drips too fast through the little pot sitting on your glass, it wasn't done quite right but it still tastes very good. But if you have an experienced waiter making it, it will take 10-15 minutes to drip through. Let it. Your patience will be richly rewarded with one of the most heavenly coffee experiences to be had anywhere. It is typically served dripping into Vietnamese sweetened condensed milk. Order it black if you don't want the sugar. The coffee has its own special dark sweetness anyway. more

2nd Best in Cuse' 8/17/2006

Century was not too bad, I have to say it has the most decent atmosphere for a Vietnamese restaurant in Syracuse. Things I've had: Pho (soup noodle): I personally think the pho had a little bit too much spice in it, I can't even finish a small bowl. It was a bit too salty. But it is definitely better than Mei Lan on N.Salina, but not as good as Saigon on Park. Vermicelli: I also had the vermicelli plate with grill pork and shrimp. Taste wise, this plate were not bad, but I would recommend order appetizer or eat it for lunch. The portion is surely not enough for dinner. (Just an example: I'm a 95lb asian girl, it's not like I eat tons of food for dinner) but if this plate is not filling for me, I just can't imagine how it would feed a reg. size adult. Vegetarian Plate: This plate looks really good, got a lot of variety of vegetables in different color to make this plate very appealing. I didn't order this, my boyfriend did, from his opinion, he think the veggies are good and taste fresh. But wish the overall taste could be more rich with sauce, he think it's too bland. And hope that they have more variety for Vegetarian. more

Yummy - 8/20/2005

New Century Viet Restuarant provides a sweet and comforting atmosphere. It has nice decors in the restaurant and there is alcoholic drinks provided at the bar separated from the dining room for those who just want to have a drink. The place is nice for families to go dine or friends to have a chat over lunch at or sweet hearts to have a comforting meal. The prices are reasonable and the food is great. Totally recommended to go if you want some delicious Vietnamese food. more

Viet Restaurant 8/20/2005

Another great Vietnamese restaurant. They give you a lot of food for your money. There is excellent desserts and the waitors are very friendly and conversational. There is a bar area separated from the main eating area. It is also a great place to hold parties, like wedding receptions and the likes. You have to try their "bun bo hue" if you liek spicy food. more
