New Beginning Salon Spa

I have been going to this salon for over a year and love, love, love my stylist JoAnn, and the staff! I have never had product pushed on me. They do ask if you would like a lipstick touch up but usually decline and nothing more is said. I also have never been harassed by Joann my stylist to spend more than I had intended to at my appointment. This salon is a little more than other salons but it is something I treat myself to and I deserve it! The staff is happy and the owners have got it together. The stylists do not double book and therefore I have never had to wait unless I AM early. I have to question the reviewers who have given New Beginnings less than 4 stars. Disgruntled employees? People who depend on others to make their decisions.... Sad really! You will not be disappointed if you get any of the services! The service there is very poor and people do not know what they do. I went to this place because of the Aveda brand - big mistake! Waste of your time and money. more

I went in for a haircut, and was first offered, a beer or glass of wine, but chose a cup of tea. Then was given an awesome scalp massage, and a great haircut. I recently moved to the area and went to this salon because it's an Aveda salon. I patronized Aveda salons exclusively in the last 2 cities I lived in, for almost 18 years total. Pros: Had a lot of Aveda product in stock Cons: Stylists try and push you to buy more products and services more

Natasha was extremely professional she was able to listen to what I wanted and do it perfectly. Not many people listen or care enough to get it right the first time. I was very happy with my hair cut and I left there with confidence. Not always the case when having someone who has never cut your hair before. I can tell you that i found my new stylist, loved Natasha not only did she do a great job, she was also very personable and easy to talk to. I had such a good experience with other Aveda Salons that I really wanted to give them a chance. The first time I loved my haircut, but that hairstylist left and the next 2 times it was with 2 different stylists and they were very, very awful. I'm not a picky customer and I was so sad, so disappointed with my haircuts. Receptionists were friendly. I think the owners invested their money on making this a beautiful spa and didn't want to invest in talented staff.. the manicure/wax technicians awful as well. Would never recommend this place. I went in for a spa day and had the best day ever!! My facial and massage was by far the best I have ever had. I had a complimentary lunch that was delicious served with a mimosa. Then completed my day with a relaxing manicure and pedicure. I saw two different girls and they were fantastic. This spa provides a five star service and I would recommend this place to my fellow moms in need of a relaxing break! I will for sure be back! When I went to the salon I was greeted with attitude by the male receptionist ( mikian ). I was treated very rudely. The haircut was horrible too. This place was a big dissapointment. I will not go back. Pros: nice fountain Cons: horrible service more

I just had the most expensive manicure ever because the nail polish started bubbling and peeling off in less than a day. I called the place up and had it redone; same thing- 3 of my left hand fingers had nail polish peeling off the next day right before my friend?s wedding! more

New Beginning is a fitting name for this salon. Every time I have been to this salon I have had somebody new doing my hair. Eric did my hair last time and he was great, now he's gone too. I'm not going back any more. Pros: nothing Cons: can't hold onto staff more

I went there with my Girlfriend, as it was her birthday treat to me. Let's just say the girls there need much more training. I spoke to the manager, and they would not work with me on fixing the situation, or refunding my $$. I will not be back. I expected far better things from this salon. I went with a couple of girlfriends to get a wax and pedicure. My friends had a decent experience, but my girl in particular was quite awful. She was extremely friendly, but didn't know what she was doing AT ALL. I went in for a brazilian wax, which I have done several times before, but it was my first time at this location. The woman couldn't get the wax to work, she tried both hard and soft wax, she spilled it all over my legs, and she took FOREVER to finish. I am used to going in, going through a couple of uncomfortable minutes, and getting out. This took an HOUR (something you don't want to go through with this particular area) and she ended up having to downgrade me to a bikini wax b/c she got too stressed to finish. She claimed my hair was too short (although when I first came in she said it was perfect length), but I know that is not the case b/c I use a trimmer and always use the same setting and the other places I have gone always have an easy time doing it (not exaggerating, 5 min). Also, it was coming out fine in certain places and not others. Anyways, I ended up super PATCHY, b/c certain places were waxed and others were not all over, and it was HORRIBLE looking! She only charged me for a bikini, but it wasn't even a bikini, it was just random patches. I was very upset and embarrassed (not to mention in pain) and I did not want my husband to see. After that awful experience, my friends had been waiting for me to get done (they went in at the same time and came out half an hour earlier, finished), we went for our pedicures. This same woman did my pedicure and she didn't even bother to scrape down my feet! That is the reason I went, b/c I am a runner and I had some calluses developing. She was taking so long and my friends were finishing up, so she tried to catch up by cutting out the services. I ended up with a horrible paint job (just the middle of each nail was painted b/c she was worried it would get on my toe, like she can't wipe off the excess!!) and rough feet. It was a stupid waste of money. I could've done it better myself. Needless to say, I was ready to get the heck out of there, so as soon as she let me go, I took off. I did ask her to correct one nail she hadn't even painted to the end, but didn't bother with any other requests to fix my pedicure b/c my friends were waiting. I think this woman needs to go through training about 5 more times. Also, one of my friends who had enjoyed her girl, scheduled an appointment for a month later. Well I got a call two days ago from them saying that the girl my friend liked is no longer there and would I see another person, and I said ""there must be a mistake, I will never go back there"" and told them maybe they had meant to call my friend? They looked up her name and said she didn't have an appointment. Apparently, they had scheduled me instead of my friend, so obviously they need some organization skills as well. I have been to many spas over the years but I have never been to one with such a relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff! Everyone I have talked with is so kind, friendly and professional. It is obvious that they take great pride in offering an exceptional spa experience. Since my former stylist of over 8 years moved to England, I have been searching for someone that truly understands how to cut my thin, naturally curly hair. After some very unfortunate haircut experiences, I was delighted to find Joe Ann Carper. She is friendly and fun to chat with. I have been very impressed with the way she has cut and colored my hair. I have even had strangers walk up to me and compliment me on my hair! She is a true artist and I am very happy to have found a stylist I can trust. I also have to say that the foot soak Joe Ann offered me on my first appointment was awesome! I also really enjoyed the hot towel on my temples. What nice touches! Over the holiday weekend, I went in for my first facial. I had really no idea of what to expect with the service, but was always knowledgeable of the excellent service and reputation of the salon and its employees. So, I wasn't surprised or dissappointed when Monica and I spent much of the service talking and laughing. The facial was amazing and I didn't notice the hour go by at all. To top it all off, the always courteous front desk staff, in particular Mikian, made the entire experience end in a way that left me looking forward to the next time. It was my first time at this salon. I was fortunate to have Natasha P. as my hair stylists. I am a blond and I was feeling like doing something risky, incorporate red highlights. She delivered high end salon results! She listens very well, worked quickly and delivered results that blew my mind. She is so good I wanted to leave a review which I don't normally do for businesses. If you wanna look hot your got to see Natasha. I was relaxed and very well taken care. This place is ok - a couple of weird things to note: they make you sign and date your information packet every time you visit (I've been 4 times and signed 4 times). Not a big deal, but it's annoying and clearly the staff is following a set of prescribed rules without thinking about their practicality. Also, they automatically make you smell oils and then rub them into your clothing without warning or at least asking first. While I realize they are trying to create a relaxing environment, it is very scripted and rude - not everyone enjoys this. Finally, there is no real waiting area - if you arrive early you are forced to sit in 1 of 2 chairs in a hallway and if there are more than 2 people waiting you must wander around rather awkwardly. The services they provide are good and a good value, but it is so uncomfortable that I probably won't return. A couple of weeks ago I went to New Beginning for a haircut. The salon is beautiful, has a relaxing fountain and lots of services. I had Dee do my haircut and I love it. I can be a picky client and she is patient and delivered exactly what I asked for. Not only do I love my new style, but it came with a relaxing mini massage. I'll definitely go back. more
