CANNOT RECOMMEND 1/25/2011

They came to my house to stop a faucet leak--charging 90 dollars for 2 minutes--and not even fixing the leak! They are a bunch of con men and scamers. Worst of the worst. more

Bad service, double the price 11/10/2010

Neerings replaced a bad boiler circulation pump, it went bad again in 11 months. The plumber quoted $683 to replace it, including the manufacturers warrantee. I called the service manager thinking there must be some mistake. He said he would check with the plumber and call me back, he never called. After 5 days of my little girl's room being cold I called him back. He said he was sorry, he'd "been busy." He offered to lower the price to $620. I had Nelsons Plumbing from Syracuse replace it, their charge was $350, it was done in 1 day. We should probably feel sorry for the Neerings service manager, he must deal with unhappy customers all day long. more

avoid this company at all costs 10/27/2010

Our furnace was having problems (not starting all the time) so we called neerings to come (we had a coupon). The tech said the main board needed to be replaced and it would be over $800. The furnace also stopped working once the tech looked at the furnace. The tech recommended replacing the whole furnace. I called a local contractor to come and look. He said a wire was knocked loose and fixed that so the furnace would work start some of the time again and bid to replace the main board for under $200. He also bid to replace the furnace at $2000 less and for a superior ranked brand. I also called whipple and they bid on a new furnace for about $1000 less than neerings. We had the main board replaced by the contractor and almost a year later the original furnace is fine. I talked to a friend who used neerings for a plumbing incident and he had the same horrible experience. Avoid neerings, their techs are incompetent and they are way over priced. more

Do not be misled by fake reviews of Neerings Plumbin 10/15/2010

As on other review sites about Neerings Plumbing there are numerous 5 star reviews here that are fakes---35 to be exact. HappyC has 31, and AnonymousU has 4. That leaves only 4 reviews that are positive and 4 that are very negative from real people who have used Neerings Plumbing. My experience like so many others is that they charged an exorbitant price for a 2 hour routine job---$700 to be exact to install a $330 water heater. Part of the deceptive sales tactics used by this company is to give a "bundled estimate" where the cost of the product is not broken down. In my case they informed my wife that to replace our 40 gallon water heater with a Bradford White model would be $1033. If that meant that they were going to install the $700 model for a $330 installation charge, it would have been fair and reasonable. Instead they charged us $700 for a two hour installation of a $330 (retail) water heater. I checked and the going rate to install a water heater with our set up in our area is $200 - $300 total, not $700. In my opinion Neerings Plumbing charges exorbitant prices and is deceptive in the manner they do business. Why, for instance, don't they give a parts and labor estimate up front and write that on the repair receipt if not to conceal the way they inflate their labor costs? Also, why are there so many fake and bogus 5 star reviews of their company on all of these sites? Is it possible that Neerings Plumbing pays a service to write these phony positive reviews to offset the negative ones they get from real customers? Who knows? To their credit they have experienced service people and know what they are doing, but there are many local plumbing companies who will do just as good a job at 1/2 to 1/3 the exorbitant prices Neerings Plumbing charges. I feel as if Troy Neering the company president just picked my pocket of the extra $500 they charged beyond what a fair and reasonable price would have been. Call Neerings Plumbing only if you have money to burn and want to be fleeced. more

Don't be deceived by fake positive reviews 10/15/2010

Both HappyC and AnonymousU are fake. Together they account for 35 of Neering Plumbing's 5 star ratings. It is interesting that every site that rates Neerings Plumbing of Salt Lake City contains numerous fake 5 star ratings. It makes you wonder if Neerings might be paying some service to provide bogus reviews to offset their negative ratings by real people who feel they have been ripped off by them. My experience with Neerings was that they used deceptive sales practices and charge exorbitant prices. They gave my wife an estimate of $1033 to replace a water heater. It turned out that the retail cost of the water heater was $330 and the 2 hour installation charge was $700. If money is no object, and you don't mind paying 2 to 3 times what other plumbing companies charge for the same work, then by all means call Neerings since their techs are qualified and they do quality work. If you would rather pay a fair and reasonable price for the quality work you get, then call anyone else with experience. I feel as if my pocket has been picked for the $500 over what a fair and reasonable installation charge should have been. more
