TAKE THIS AS A WARNING! WEDDING ALMOST RUINED! 2/24/2010

PLEASE NOTE 1ST & 4MOST THAT THIS DESERVES A ZERO STAR RATING BUT THERE IS NO OPTION TO DO THAT. THIS PLACE & ITS DISGUSTING OWNER DESERVE NO STARTS BUT SINCE I DIDNT HAVE AN OPTION TO PUT ZERO STARS & STILL WARN PPL ABOUT HER I GAVE ONE PITY STAR.I found this shop online & went in with my bridal party. I tried on a gown we all liked & I ordered it. I left a $750 deposit (half cost of gown). Owner Myrdith McCormick told me to come in for a fitting in 3 months (length of time it wold take for a brand new gown to be made specifically for me; they took my measurememts & were sending it out to be made). I could not reach here in June, The store was constantly closed & I couldn't even leave a msg becuase the machine was always full. When I finally did reach her she told me it would not be in until August (My wedding was Oct 5th!) When I went in August, my gown was not there. She tried to squeeze me into a dirty floor sample & chastise me for gaining weight! Long story short: I had to go elsewhere for a new gown (@ Angel's Bridal in Staten Island NY,BTW! Worth even a trip over the bridge if you live in BK They treat you as a bride should be treated in this shop. They are everything Myrjan should be & is not.) She never returned my $750, she even threatened me & my family..she is a poor excuse for a business woman. This happened to me in 2007. Had it not been so close to my wedding I may have taken legal action against her but I had more important things to worry about (like finding a new gown!) & more important things to spend my $ on besides lawyers (like said new gown, & honeymoon far, far away from Myrdith & the added extra stress & drama she brought to my life b4 my wedding). I have put her & this incident out of my mind however I just found my Better Business Bureau complaint I filed against Myrdith McCormick & Myrjan Bridal against her in old saved email & then found all of these stories so similar to my own here. So, because I never got my $ back, the least I could do is try to prevent this from happening to another bride. I honestly believe the only positive post up her was written by her herself. Planning weddings can be stressful enough. Finding your perfect wedding gown is supposed to be the fun, pleasant part of that & she truly ruined that for me, & obviously shes ruined it for other women as well. DONT LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!!!! Cons: OWNER IS AN UNPROFESSIONAL THIEF more

Myrjan Bridal - Disgraceful 4/2/2009

Well I'm glad to see that this complaint board has been started. Almost three years ago I was getting married and was excited to find a place in Brooklyn that offered wedding gowns that were affordable. My first visit was a great, I tried on several dresses - found one I liked, but my sister found the same dress online for drastically less than what she was charging. In April (2004) I went to a bridal show where Myrjan Bridal was a vendor. She raffled $2,000 toward any dress of your choice - guess what I won! It was the absolute pits working with her - she didn't order the dress when she said she did, she didn't have any records of my dress being ordered. She was very unprofessional, always mean and needless to say I didn't get my dress until three weeks from my wedding - I literally had enough time to pick up my dress (after causing a scene and seconds from being arrested for vandalizing her shop), take it to a tailor which the tailor only agreed to bustle and not tighten it around the breast b/c of the detailing (the following week), take it to a cleaners to have it pressed (the week before my wedding) and put it on (the week of my wedding). Meredith never apologzied for the inconvenience or the troubles she caused and here's the funny part of the story - I still see her from time to time and she pretends not to notice me, but I know just like I remember her she knows exactly who I am. Despite the nonsense wih her, I was still able to make a beautiful bride. She a conartist and I wouldn't recommend anyone to do business with her. more

Best selection of bridal apparel for women of color 2/25/2008

Myridith McCormack was exceptional! She welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel as if you and she are good old friends. Her selection of gowns were awesome, some I could not find anywhere else. She hand made my veil to match the dress as if it came as a set. I never had worries during one of the most stressful times of my life!! She even gives you pointers on some of the other details of wedding planning that you may have forgotten about. She covers all aspects, making you feel alot more secure about your upcoming event. MyrJan is the place to go!! Pros: They give you their undivided attention! Cons: None that I experienced. more

Watch out for this lady 1/18/2008

I paid this woman for supposedly ordering a custom wedding dress for me. When I asked her about the dress for weeks, she said she had ordered the dress. Several weeks later, I called the company where she claimed to have ordered the dress, and they had no record of any orders placed by this woman. When I asked the woman about her not ordering the dress when she said she did, she had no answer and offered to refund the money. Despite claims that she mailed me a refund, she never has. Additionally, when I called and asked her if she had mailed the check, she again claimed she did, then yelled at me for 20 minutes, saying she would take me to court and on national TV to discuss the situation. I'm not sure exactly what she was talking about with national TV or what she would take me to court for. She has yet to refund the money and I have disputed the charges with my credit card company in hopes of getting a refund. Pros: none that I experienced Cons: everything more

the nightmare experience 11/25/2007

I thought I was in luck when I found the dress I liked within an hour of trying on dresses. My experience then went DOWNHILL very quickly. We ordered the dress in March and were told it would be arriving in July. In July the owner told me the dress was in only to be told a few days later that it was someone else's dress and that my dress wasn't coming until August. I called in August and was told that the dress will be arriving that week. When I went in to try on the ?new? dress, the owner handed me a dress that looked old, dirty and gray. When I questioned it, she was adamant that it was the new one. There was a stain on the top of the dress which she tried to play off as from an accident when taking it out of the box! Upset & convinced that there must be a mistake, I checked the tracking # and my dress had not even been delivered. The next day when I confronted the owner she admitted that it was the sample and made up some unbelievable story about a mix up. Days later, I tried on the new dress. A couple of things-the tailor does not do the pinning which is a problem and you have to pay for the alterations in advance. Anyway, when the dress was ready I made an appt with the owner to pick up the dress for that Weds. After leaving work early to get there, the store was closed! I waited in the rain for a half hour and when I called the owner, she claimed that we never had an appt since she hadn't marked it in her book. When I complained about the ongoing problems, she started screaming at me, told me this isn't Kleinfelds and mistakes happen, that I was bothering her and then she hung up on me. Eventually I was able to get the dress from her but it cost me double to redo the alterations that her tailor messed up. It also cost me a lot of stress having to deal with her at all. While the prices there are better, save yourself from the nightmare- wedding planning is stressful enough...no need to deal with an extremely unprofessional and unorganized shop owner. more
