For my best friend's July 4th birthday, I wanted to get his trusty 214 serviced. It had been on his wrist since the early 60's. It had no issues with accuracy, but setting the hands was becoming difficult and there was a small chip (not a fracture) in the crystal at the 6 position.
After talking to Bob extensively by phone and agreeing on the repair and how long it would take, (worst case scenerio), I sent it to him. He understood that it neededto be back in my hands in time to present the watch back to my buddy. I included a note just to recap our discussion along with the return address.
I loaned my friend one of my 214s just so he could feel normal.
Several months went by without a word from Bob, so I called him. He didn't seem to know what I was talking about, even after reminding him. After looking it up, he told me it was almost done and would be in the mail "next week". After 3 weeks (with July 4th approaching), I called Bob again to see where the watch was. He again said it was almost ready. I asked him if he changed out the crystal. He said "no", but he could do it and get it in the mail. A few more week went by with no word from Bob. I called him once again. Now get this... he said it had to go through his "que" again for the crystal (BTW... A crystal replacement on an Accutron is a 10 minute proceedure). Needless to say, I nicely reminded him for the 6th time that the watch had to be back to me by July 1st so I could present it to my friend on his birthday on the 4th. I said "PLEASE INSTALL THE NEW CRYSTAL AND GET THE WATCH BACK TO ME RIGHT NOW". The watch showed up without the new crystal. The watch now stalls intermittantly and has to be serviced by someone else.
BOB STINKS AT WHAT HE DOES. He is confused. He is disorganized. He is not trustworthy. He is a poor repairman, and worst of all, he doesn't do what he says he'll do.
I don't mean to offend, but I feel very ripped off by Bob. Sorry this review couldn't be nicer, but i thought warning others is the right thing to do here.
