If you are looking a good steak, this is NOT the place to go. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews. Anyone with a speck of culinary expertise would tell you that the food here is horrible. My brother in law ordered the prime rib which smelled like a urinal and the baked potatoes were undercooked. I ordered a steak but did not specify that I wanted a cut from a cow not a horse. The highlight of the meal was the bacon bits in the salad. Yes...bacon bits. I just got back from Mr. Steak and have to say I will never go back there! I have been going there for 20 plus years but after tonight no more. The shrimp was very low grade ( not like it was when the other owner had it) and I sent my steak back because it was like shoe leather and the next one was just as bad. They offered me a complimentary dessert but I said no and they went ahead and charged the regular price for food that was horrible. They have lost my business forever. The employees that bought it are running the place into the ground. This was my choice for my birthday meal. What a mistake. The cheese sticks my son ordered were not fit for a dog either. I've tried all the other steak places in the area and they do not hold a candle to Mr Steak of St Charles. Its a small restaurant that is very popular and busy most every night of the week. They have an assortment of items to choose from and prices that won't leave you broke, even for the little ones. They are very attentive to their customers needs and always checking on you. Mostly booths in non-smoking a few tables do exist for LARGE people or groups. The back area is for smokers (p.u.). They serve lunch and dinner and each day have daily specials. Its a gem of a place and when I crave a tasty steak, this is the only place I will go; great deal on their meal (salad/soup, meal choice of side item, bread). Birthday deal also!! I recommend this place to all my friends who venture across the bridge to visit and stop by when they do Main Street shopping. It's a little humorous reading reviews, you can really tell a lot about the person who wrote the review by their etiquette. You can tell who are quick to jump in making a negative review based on shear ignorance of the type of restaurant that they thought they were dinning at. Enough said there. Mr Steak is not a glamorous restaurant nor do they have a five star steak (which you can tell by the price). Something that should be taken into consideration is that this is basically your typical "Mom & Pop Restaurant" and no more than that. I have dinned at Mr Steak a few times and have found that the service, staff, price and quality of the food to be that of a "Mom & Pop Restaurant". The Owner personally greeted us at our table and the wait staff were attentive. The food was prepared as expected and with in a timely manor. Would I recommend or dine here again? I would. Mr Steak has that small town feel, affordable menu choices, quality food for type of restaurant it is. Pros: Friendly, Attentive, Informal, Priced for the lower class. The steak was not good quality and then was served cold. YUCK! The potato was grainy and the fat free dressing for the salad was Lite..not fat free. Waste of money at this place. Stick with Outback...they know steaks. more

A place called Mr. Steak should pride itself on it's steak, right? I have never had such terrible steak at a restaurant before. It was chewy, tough, flavorless and not at all cooked right. I ordered it medium and it came back a blackened, shriveled up piece of dog food. Also, the hostess made it seem like we were inconveniencing her to ask for a table! When we got to the table there was a clear view of inside the kitchen. Inside we saw our waitress joking and flirting with the cooking staff. This would be fine if we had gotten our drinks refiled when we needed them, but we didn't. THE BIGGEST THING: WE SAW THE FRY COOK SCRATCH HIS CROTCH!!!!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE DIDN'T EAT OUR FRENCH FRIES. Don't go here, unless you like to get disappointed. In anger, I stole the fake flowers from the table and put it on my mantle. Ha! Take that! I was just in Mr. Steak the other day. I had great service, great food and the service was excellent! I always have a good time when eating at Mr. Steak. I don't know how Mr. Steak is able to keep the prices so inexpensive! You cant go anywhere else for the prices, quality and service that they give you!!! If you havent eaten there in a while you should give them a chance. You are only selling yourself short if you don't. I have been eating at Mr. Steak since I can remember. In fact I worked there when I was in highschool. They have always been known for the exceptional service and tasty food for a good price. I would highly recomend going there. The service was great and the food was execellent! I have always had a great meals here. Everytime that I go there the manager himself is the most personable of any rest. that I have been to; always wanting to know how things are and that everything is up to par. I would highly recomend going here to eat. Sunday is a good day to go if you have children especially if you picky children KIDS EAT FREE ON SUNDAYS. that is a very nice thing when money is tight and your kids dont eat well. I hope you take this advice and give them a try, you dont know what your missing until you visit Mr. Steak at least once! Pros: Thumbs up without a doubt! more

I read the not so good reviews and decided to try Mr. Steak anyway on 3/16/2007. Location: St. Charles, MO off of Hwy. 70 at Zumbehl. Ordered the All you can eat king crab legs for $24.95. Salad was plain but ok. The wheat bread was dry and not worth the time. The crab legs were brought to the table without the baked potatoes that were ordered, when the baked potatoes came out there was a ton of butter on them and they looked like something that was reheated from three days ago. They tasted like they were three days old too. The crab legs were okay, overcooked but okay. The service was decent, crab legs were plentiful and iced tea was always full. Not the waitress' fault that the food was not up to par. Take my word for it, it is not the cost but the quality of the food that seriously lacks merit. If you want good crab legs go to Emperor's Palace in Chesterfield Valley, it is a buffet but they have the most wonderful snow crab legs on the weekend nights. The crab legs are snow crab but they are awesome and plentiful. My entire family loves crab legs and we are no amateurs, I know the difference between King crab and snow crab legs but bad crab legs are bad crab legs. This is a great family place to dine. The reviews listed saying "waited an hour for food" was ridiculous, there is NOWAY there was ever an hour wait just to get the food. In addition, the food is great. If there is a problem with the food, and the customer reports it from the first bite (like they should), the problem is fixed and the manager personally oversees the preperation of that food. As for "veteran wait staff leaving", again, wrong. There are 2 waitresses that have been there at least 20 years, and two others that have been there 5 plus years. This is a great place to eat, and if you do experience a problem and are prompt about reporting it, it will be fixed--there is no need to embelish on your experience. My boyfriend and I were given gift certificates for this restaurant, so the meal did not cost us even 1 dime. It was the worst meal of my life. The steaks were WELL DONE and flavorless. I had ordered it medium rare. The vegetables were overcooked and tasted like water. The roll was hard. The potato was burnt. The salad was terrible and the dressing was watered down and runny. I would have sent the whole meal back but we had waited over an hour to get it and it was obvious that a new meal would be the same. I will never go back there again. Don't waste your time or money. This is one of the worst places I've been. I think the only reason they are still around is because they give free food on birthdays and they have all you can eat crablegs sometimes. The food, both steak and seafood, is not good at all. Service isn't that great, just not a great place to go at all. more

Our family has been going to this resteraunt since I was a child. We always enjoyed our meals and I can remember my parents always raving about the service! Now that I am married and take my Husband there, I understand what the stink is about. Their staff is so friendly & I think every time I have been in there, the Manager has personally come to our table to ask if we are enjoying the food! It is just a wonderful place for the family. Once a good restaurant , the food has really gone downhill in the last 2-3 years . The decline seems to have started when the current owner took over about 4 years ago. Service is bad now too as all the veteran waitresses that once worked there have quit (wonder why?) leaving inexperienced kids to wait the tables. I live in St. Charles & ate there for years but finally,after many bad meals, gave up & now go to Lone Star or Longhorn. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ! Pros: none Cons: bad food, bad service more
