While John D. was polite and seemed to make an honest effort to diagnose our plumbing situation, he refused to listen to our needs and work accordingly. We had a loud banging noise in the wall of my 2-year-old son's bedroom that's been keeping him awake at night and traumatizing him. We needed a quick fix on this immediately and made that very clear. But instead of making the quick fix, he insisted on a trial-and-error approach to diagnosing and reworking the plumbing of the entire house, with each installment conveniently coming out to $800. After the first $800 job did absolutely nothing to alleviate the banging noise in the wall, and our son endured yet another night of traumatization, we again told him to go into the wall and stop the banging. He refused and again persistently insisted on conducting another $800 job that still possibly (likely) wouldn't have solved the banging issue. At this point, we essentially fired him.
In addition, I took off work all day on Monday for him to work on the house and that night the problem wasn't solved, so he was called in again for Tuesday. He never showed -- I understand plumbing jobs can take longer than expected and that appointment cancellations are common -- but the fact of the matter is I took off a second day of work. And for a second night, there was banging on my son's wall. When John finally arrived on Wednesday -- my third missed day of work -- I told him to stop the trial and error approach, which was coming at my expense to the tune of $800 per job, and get inside the wall and stop the banging noise. He refused.
So after spending $800 with no resolution and firing John before he could swindle another $800 at least, we hired a different plumbing service whose plumber was willing to listen to our needs and act accordingly. He cut into the wall, found the pipes that were causing the banging noise and made the quick fix, which is all we wanted in the first place. We will be using the other plumbing service moving forward.
