Mr. Electric came to my house to discuss the pricing for some of the problems I had. I had to leave the repairs for later, because it was too much money for me, considering my situation right now. He looked over everything and gave me an estimate. We only discussed the problem, but their serviceman was professional and friendly. I call Mr. Electric to look at a light fixture in one of my rental properties. I agreed to a $124 diagnostic fee and set the appointment. When the electrician showed up he diagnosed a bad ballast. To change the ballast he wanted to charge me over $441. I immediately told him to leave the house and I bought a new fixture for less than $40 and it took less than 30 minutes to complete the change out. The fee he wanted to charge me was definitely price gouging and I believe they should be sanctioned for trying to take advantage of a senior citizen. This is a lesson learned to never use the unscrupulous thieves known as “Mr. Electric”! The $124 diagnostic charge was to find out whether the issue was in the fixture or elsewhere. The remainder was parts and labor to take the fixture apart to make repairs. It is normally less expensive to replace the fixture if it is a low cost fixture. Your accusations are unjustified. We use a standard pricing program that gives the same price for every customer for the same task and you never incur any costs unless you approve these costs in writing prior to the work. I had GFCI oulet problems in my bathroom. A tech from Mr Electric ran som diagnostics and eventually recommended rewiring all the outlets - costing over $1000. I had another electrical company (Specia) come out and take a look at the issue. It turns out, there was just a corroded connection to one of the upstream outlets from the bathroom. Instead of paying Mr Electric $1000+ to run new wires through my house, the job was fixed by Specia under $100. I'm disappointed with the diagnostics performed, charges incurred, and recommendation provided by Mr Electric. I would not do business with Mr Electric nor recommend them to anyone moving forward. Although there is often a cheaper way that seems like an easy fix, it is not always recommended. Our service professional found issues beyond what you initially called for and did not feel it was safe to repair only the small portion of the problem. It is your decision as to whether you chose to correct only a portion of the problem. Mr. Electric of San Antonio is absolutely excellent. I have had them do a number of different things for me, including hanging a light from ceiling fans and inspecting my home with several electrical problems. With their help I was able to work with the builders to get everything fixed. They were always professional and on time, and I would highly recommend their work. more

Mr. Electric is so trustworthy. They have done a tremendous amount of electrical work in my home, such as installed smoke detectors, lights, and fans. They always do a meticulous job, and clean up after themselves and leave everything spotless. They vacuum after each time. Rick Ingram in particular does a terrific job. He is a master electrician. He is completely trustworthy, and that's very important to me. He knows exactly what to do, and offers different options and explains each one. Everything works beautifully. I wouldn't trade Mr. Electric for any other electrical company. I won the lottery on this one. These people are great. more

Mr. Electric has done quite a bit of work for us like electrical switches, circuit breakers, all of our smoke and fire alarms in the house, and are very professional. Every time they come over, they know what to work on and wear booties on their feet when they come in the house even when they don't have to but the company makes sure they do which is nice. They always have the equipment which is a real help because their one hour job doesn't have to turn into a three hour job because they had to run to look for parts. They also make recommendations when they're there on when we should keep an eye on. Most of the time, we go with their recommendations and they've been valid. more

Mr Electric of San Antonio repaired light fixtures, installed new lighting for me, added electrical outlets, and updated my outdoor lights that weren't up to code. I think they're very professional and do a nice job. more

Mr Electric of San Antonio came out to my small business and repaired the light fixtures. They were prompt, friendly, and I was impressed with their customer service and the pleasant attitude of the lady who scheduled and followed up with me and the electrician himself. I would recommend them to anyone who needs electrical work. more

I needed a piece of equipment hard wired into an existing 220 JBox. It was explained to me on the phone that there would be a diagnostic fee, but she made it sound like that fee would be charged if I did not have the work done. No, the fee is ADDED to the job. It took 10 minutes to diagnose that the wires needed to be connected and that the breaker needed to be thrown to do so. The cost for actually doing the job was quoted at $144. The entire job including the diagnostic fee was $299. They literally charge you to walk into your door. This is ludicrous. The technician didn't even have the wire connectors needed on his truck. So, guess I get to take another day off of work to get this done (by a reputable company.) No. I do not recommend this company. No I will not use them again. Misleading your customers and double charging is just plain wrong. Shame on you Mr. Electric! Mr. Electric of San Antonio has replaced panels, changed circuits, and upgraded anything that needed to be brought up either to electric code, or to city code. They are all Johnny-on-the-spot. They get the job done in an extremely reasonable amount of time. I think they are just great. more

We had been having "flickering" problems with one of 2 fluorescent light fixtures. I had replaced the sockets and bulbs in both. Wife got tired of being on the verge of seizures when she had to work in the laundry room, so we called Mr. Electric. We had purchased 2 fixtures and they were installed for us. Afterwards, I replaced bulbs in kitchen fixtures (fluorescent) and flickering started with both. After some research I found that I was using T8 (new kind) bulbs instead of T12 (old kind). Flickering problem was solved. I called Mr. Electric and informed them that I thought that the incorrect bulbs should have been noticed immediately by an "expert". It could have saved me a considerable amount of money (fixture installs, etc...). Rest of the story...they agreed and reimbursed me FAIRLY and RAPIDLY. They were extremely courteous and professional at all times. As far as I'm concerned their character is above reproach. That, in itself, is very important in whom I choose to do work at my home. Ivan was the Technician. He represented himself and Mr. Electric in a highly professional manner. There might be "cheaper" so-called "Electric Repair Services" around but very few with the character and integrity of Mr. Electric. Highly recommend! more

Mr. Electric of San Antonio came to work on the surge protection at my house. I like how the efficiency of the things they did will help reduce some of my electric draw. The electrician himself was very friendly and informative. He didn't just come in and do it without explaining anything. He told me exactly why he did what he did. more

When electrician arrived I had a temporary outside floodlight connected to a plug-in timer with an outdoor extension cord. The electrician (without saying a word to me) cut my extension cord and hardwired it to my new outdoor light fixture and new timer. When I realized what he had done I was not happy at all. I called and complained. He came back the next day and told me this was only a temporary fix (never mentioned this to me before). He stated could not install the gray outdoor electrical cable above ground. It was against code. But, he could come back and run a permanent line for an additional charge of $329. But, first I would need to hire someone to dig a trench to bury the new line. So, how is the outdoor extension cord lying on top of the ground up to code? I already had a temporary fix with my outdoor extension cord, portable floodlight and plug-in timer. Now I have a temporary fix that cost me $200-$250 using my extension cord. I called again to complain and the supervisor never called me back. more
