I needed a piece of equipment hard wired into an existing 220 JBox. It was explained to me on the phone that there would be a diagnostic fee, but she made it sound like that fee would be charged if I did not have the work done. No, the fee is ADDED to the job. It took 10 minutes to diagnose that the wires needed to be connected and that the breaker needed to be thrown to do so. The cost for actually doing the job was quoted at $144. The entire job including the diagnostic fee was $299. They literally charge you to walk into your door. This is ludicrous. The technician didn't even have the wire connectors needed on his truck. So, guess I get to take another day off of work to get this done (by a reputable company.)
No. I do not recommend this company. No I will not use them again. Misleading your customers and double charging is just plain wrong. Shame on you Mr. Electric!
RESPONSE FROM Mr Electric of San Antonio TX:
We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our services. All of our customers are informed beforehand that there is a charge for diagnosing a problem, as were you, and we apologize if you found that misleading. Our service professionals are not new electricians but highly skilled and well qualified and experienced at electrical service, installation and repair and this is why there are costs associated with our services/diagnoses. After looking at our records we find that the service professional was at your home for over an hour, not 10 minutes. At Mr. Electric, we try hard every day to provide not only excellent electrical service but also excellent customer service at fair prices. Because our service professionals specialize in correcting existing issues they are normally able to correct the issue the first time in less time that it might take someone with less experience in the field. We sincerely regret that we were not able to make you a happy customer
